Excellent place. I've been ordering from them since they 1st opened, decades ago. Back when they would deliver if your order was over $35, I think was the $ amount. And yes, the lady is quick to hang the phone up. Some consider it rude. But I'm the same way. Once all the vital Information is relayed and received, the conversation is over. General TSO chicken is my favorite as well the house lo mein. the chicken wings are awesome with hot sauce UPDATE March 2012 Lets just say that in this extremely tiny town, 88 is not the most outstanding chinese restaurant in the free world, but out of the few here it is higher quality on the items I reviewed. I dont care for their egg rolls, too much cabbage. but the house lo mein is decent and ordering the chef's specials that come with entree, rice or pork fried rice and egg roll is a good deal and can feed 2 people easily. the lunch specials are worth the $6 and you will have more than enough. I can only say i enjoy their General Tso's, I havent ordered anything other than the items i have described and reviewed. I prefer this one place to the Buffet place in town that is much like rolled out cafeteria foods. or the one in a gas station where the items are sitting under a warmer for who knows how long, Oh and then there is the one that shut down because it was so disgusting. I think there is one more that has opened in the same spot for the 3rd time in 13 years- yea dont think so So if you like chinese chicken wings, crab rangoons, spring rolls and general tso's chicken this is the best place to get it around here. read more

Am i the only person who is tired of the woman answering calls at 88!!! So the lady at 88 Chinese restaurant is the rudest person I've ever dealt wit! I called and literally asked about a menu item which would only require a yes or no answer. But instead she said Im to busy for this and hung up. Called back and she said i don't have time to explain the menu then hung up. Called back and she said if I didn't stop calling her she would call the police ( remember I'm just trying to make a big order. )Ok actually I recorded some of it, May post it later. I called something by the incorrect name and she proceeded to yell at me saying that I didn't know what I wanted and hung up on me. Okay this is cheap Chinese takeout. Comparing it to other cheap Chinese takeout places within 30 miles, 88 is really good. The portions are humongous. Probably my favorite thing on the menu is the house special egg foo young. I'm not going to lie, I have eaten here way more than anybody should ever eat anywhere. read more

Very rude over the phone service tried to order and was told to hurry, never had been treated so rude

VERY RUDE!! I called to place an order and ask the lady to hold for my second order. Before I could order my second order the lady on the phone rushed me. I told her she didn't have to be rude. She replied and said they were busy and hung up. Called back and she began the conversation rudely with DO YOU WANT THE ORDER? I proceeded to tell her she didn't have to be rude and wanted to proceed with my order. She hung up once again. I hope that order she wrote down the first call is a reminder on how she lost a customer by being rude. read more

The staff here is extremely rude. When you order, they don't give you your total or tell you how long it will be until your food is ready, they literally just hang up. And when I called to order yesterday, the girl said I didn't know what I was talking about on the menu and HUNG UP ON ME. She said the Chow Mein came with cabbage and the menu specifically states w. white rice and fried noodle. These people shouldn't be in business. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! Have been getting takeout here for a while. Has always been good until recently. I ordered the happy family, some chicken wings, and won ton soup. After getting home my wife opened the happy family. She said "what is that on top it's shiny like metal" it was metal! A steel chip about 3 inches long was in the food! I took the food back, and demanded to see the owner. They didn't seem too surprised when I showed them the steel chip in the food. I told them they were lucky a kid didn't eat that. Hospital trip for sure. I asked him where could that of come from. Turned out it was piece of the steel scrub used to clean the wok. Got my $$ back and got out of there! We had the sesame chicken with pork fried rice and the fried dumplings. The portions are large, the food was fresh and it tasted great! The staff was friendly and the prices were fair. One dinner can feed 2 people. We ordered a pork fried rice to go and my husband and his 2 co workers were able to eat and get full and still have leftovers. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back! read more

I could not believe that not one cook wore gloves while preparing or cooking the food. The resturant is filthy. This could be a potential breeding ground for serious illnesses. We will not be going back to this restaurant. read more

88 is the best Chinese available this side of the Mason Dixon line...PERIOD! Since ofcourse I have been on 5 Continents, and 46 of our states I offer an EXPERT opinion on this matter which may make some Insecure and Overweight SheBOYS fall to the fetal position and cry, but hey... IT is what IT is.... Food Wise The RICE!!! The General's Chicken! Favorites like my Long Lost Friend above ;P Cant beat the 11am to 3pm Lunch Special at only 4.65 monday through saturday!! The General Tso Chicken is wonderful; however their customer service could improve... for example, when ordering take out, I always get an abrupt and rude employee who takes my order, asks for my phone number and proceeds to hang up on me without thanking me, quoting a pick up time or asking if there's anything else I would like to order. My problem is this ... I have yet to find GOOD Chinese food in the south like I had when I was living in MA. That being said the 88 does give you ALOT of food which means you have left overs for lunch/dinner the next day. However, I was not impressed and very disappointed when I found that my favorite "Chinese" item - The Crab Ragoon, contained a fingernail size worth of crab meat. We continue to get food from here to satisfy our random cravings.. but I wish the food was better. read more
