Called in an order around 4:30 on a Friday and was told it would take 30 mins, it was ready right on time but if you call any later, expect to wait. Place only has a pickup window/door, nothing fancy, just 2 gentlemen working hard and are no nonsense. Food was fresh, very flavorful and packed. Highly recommend the #13 Crispy scallion chicken & #12 General Tso chicken. We got 4 combos for $26 which is unheard of nowadays! Remember to tip generously, we need to support these types of hidden gems in the area. read more

Everyone felt like Chinese during a recent visit to see our Son and Daughter-in-law in Rock Hill, and the place they considered their favorite was closed on Mondays. Lucky for us. We then chose China Kitchen based on Yelp ratings, and it was a great choice. This place is definitely carry-out only, which actually is the only way we eat Chinese. When we pulled into the parking lot, and walked up to the restaurant, we were very hesitant. The door to the restaurant was propped open, and there was a table literally sitting in the doorway so that you couldn't enter. Turns out you just yell through the door, and they put your order on that doorway table, you pay, and you leave. They have an indoor space, but clearly have no intention of using it, as every single table was covered with boxes of supplies & such. For our group, we had garlic chicken, chicken & broccoli, sa cha chicken, and crispy scallion chicken. They sell everything as a combo, which is a great price. The egg rolls were okay, the rice pretty average, and the first three options I listed were all good. The crispy scallion chicken was very good, and I also got a small order of hot-sour soup, which was as good as any I have every had. The prices are unbelievably affordable, and will make you quickly forget about waiting for your food at a table in a doorway. And this is now our new favorite Chinese in Rock Hill. read more

Just got take out from here today and Yum!! I know several reviews on here talk about wait time and now given the whole corona virus thing plan on upping that. But was def worth the wait. We ordered 3 combo plates, an order of the appetizer portion of chicken wings and a pork lo mein all of which came in at a ridiculously low price of slightly over $27. This amount of food is huge and there's def no lack of meat or flavor. Can't wait to try even more of the menu. The two guys inside are working super hard and it was packed today. Nice inside with updated maroon furniture. They have 2 TVs in here that are presently on local news channels. Looks pretty clean and bathrooms are clean with everything working. They have sodas in cans like coke and Diet Coke. But, most customers get drinks from the fountain drink machine over to the left. Refills are free from my visit. They have Chinese decor on the walls including Chinese paintings and artifacts. Menu items ordered. Small chicken and broccoli with fried rice and an egg roll with sweet tea. Sweet Tea was sweet enough and didn't have too much sugar like most Chinese restaurants sometimes do. I was hungry so my chicken and broccoli tasted great and was cooked just right. It was also moist, tender and had some sauces added to it. I also added soy sauce to everything including the rice. I left full and happy. The customer services was great. The Chinese guy who waited on me was friendly. He even gave me a free refill of sweet tea and brought it over to my table. I came here to get my order to go. However, i liked it inside so much that I changed my mind and dined in. In summary, I am glad I came here today. I will come back if I am in the area and want Chinese. So, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Altogether, I thought this was a great Chinese Restaurant. read more

Looks like a dump and it is a hole in the wall. But with a takeout combination dinner that can suffice for lunch the next day also - for $4.50 to $5.50. Suck it up and enjoy the sauces. Discriminated against because of what I order.... I literally went from recommending this restaurant to someone, to driving there and being refused service.... I have recommended this location to 100s of people to visit this place to order food. When I visit here, it usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to drive to this location (1.5 hours round trip). I have eaten here off and on for a few years. The food is usually pretty good, and is not comparable to the other places around because the price is good and the food is good. However the service itself is suffering, which strangely the business thinks that it is okay to pass this suffering onto their returning customers. Today I visited a friend to help her hookup some electronics while thinking it was nearby the location and was thinking it would be worth ordering food. I usually do not call-in because I don't mind waiting, however today I was told it will be an hour and a half (90 minutes) before I can even place my order, while I listen to the orders being taken ahead of me being told it's 30 minutes until their order would be ready. Usually there is a long wait, and I've even waited happily past what I was told was the normal wait time for business on those days, and of the 100s of people I have told to patronize this place, I have told them all it was well worth the wait. Until today that is. I can no longer recommend this location. When the business is telling people by phone that 30 minutes is the time until their order is ready, there is no reason you should be telling a returning customer that they have to wait for 90 minutes just to have their order entered in and placed. That is when I don't return, because I know the business is headed in a direction that's downhill and there's no recovery from it. Most businesses would appreciate a good customer. Yet here I am after riding in freezing weather, only to be told in the day that I would have to wait until past nightfall to be able to place an order, which would mean I would have to carry my order another 45 minutes away in below freezing cold. I'm literally home now, and have waited for food elsewhere, gotten food, come home, eaten, and yet I would still only be allowed to place my order NOW after all this time, meaning I would still have another 30 minute wait myself and another near-hour drive home (meaning I would have to starve myself and freeze just to eat here). This is what is called negligence, and discrimination. Not once have I ever had a business owner tell me I need to put my life and health at risk just to patronize their business, until today. When a business starts making the customers suffer, that's when that place is headed towards death. If I would have waited I would still be waiting right now, and would have had to wait another 3 hours before I would be able to make it home to eat. I was already riding in freezing weather but to be told I have to wait until night-fall to place my order when the temperature is well below freezing, that's just horrible business. Customers should not have to suffer, just because you have to wash something to make their order, but that's how customers are treated here. The only problem I've ever been told there was is that the pan has to be washed to make my order... but if you have a problem washing a pan in the restaurant business, is the place really healthy enough for anyone to eat when they are that mad about having to wash a pan to make an order? Most places have someone to wash the pan, or have an extra pan, but here I'm literally pushed aside as a customer because as I'm told, a pan simply has to be washed. The guys work hard from what I see, so I don't think it is fair to say or call them lazy, but it's really pathetic that because restaurant workers don't want to wash a restaurant utensil, the customer has to put their life and health at risk just to order a plate of food here.... that hardly seems fair or even sensible. I tell people about this place all the time but never again.... not after how I'm just pushed aside. read more

Very rude, I called to place an order and a man answered the phone yelling. I proceeded to order rice and yelled at me telling me that what I was ordering was wrong when that's how I had seen it on their menu. This is the only Chinese restaurant I've tried in rock hill but there was no need to go anywhere else because it's the best! Alway get the sesame chicken combo and it's good every time, cheap for the amount of food you get and have always had a good experience ordering and picking up my food. read more

I just moved to the area & was looking for a good Chinese food place. I utilized Yelp to help my search, (thanks Yelp). I got the MuGuGi pan & spring rolls. Wow! GREAT food! Prices are unbelievably cheap, so I tipped a larger amount than I would normally. I kept reading on Yelp about only "two guys" working the joint, and sure enough, I walked in & saw the two guys, very friendly btw, both working their lil' hearts out. Service is a little bias on the individual that shows. I placed a order over the phone and when I asked about a estimate on the time. They just hung up.- no biggie. When I got to China Kitchen there was one guy waiting and I asked had he been helped he said yes, so I went to the door to check on my order. Sat for few minutes - he never asked me about my order and then another guy walks up (white) he sat at the door for 30secs to a minute tops and then the Owner or employee immediately ask him about his order. Even though I have a hood on my head doesn't mean - I don't expect good customer service. I ended up just leaving and spent my money elsewhere. My husband would consider himself quite the Chinese takeout connoisseur, and this gem of a place wins hands down in flavor, serving size, and price value! We usually both order the Hunan Chicken, and I do not know what secret ingredient Mike puts in his sauces (it is not MSG) but it is out of this world every time. There can be a wait if you do not call ahead enough and there are days he has to turn down orders entirely, because their food is so good and affordable, they tend to stay busy. I'm a bit perturbed at the moment at this place. Some douchebag picked my order up along with another order without verifying information first. The guy inside said someone picked it up and flat out told him I did not send anyone to pick it up! We left without supper at 7:30 when the order was placed at 6:10 (with a 40 minute wait). They are always late fixing the order than what was said over the phone. I give credit to them for being creative as to why the food wasn't ready. This is not an accident, it was laziness. As take out Chinese food goes this place is top of the heap. Prices are low and food is delicious. It's THE ONLY Chinese take out I've ever had that did not make me feel sickeningly overfull.
