Really cool atmosphere right on the water. They have mainly seafood and sandwiches but they do have the menu labeled for food allergies. The gluten free options for my wife were pretty slim though. I had the burger and it was pretty good, the house chips were okay. The bar selection was really good and our server was awesome. 5 star atmosphere and service with 3 star food. Decent food! For such a small area this is a good choice if you want to eat on the water. The smoked mullet dip comes with fried saltines - mullet isn't one of my favorites but the crackers were worth getting the dip to try!! We were looking for a good meal in this small town. The upstairs restaurant with a fantastic view was just what we were looking for . The servers were very friendly and took great care of us. We started with the crab claws that were delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my wife got the fried shrimp. Both were cooked perfect but my wife stoled some of mine. The onion straws and hush puppies were good . The coleslaw was fantastic. We were lucky and saw 3 manatees out back but no dolphins today. And like other seafood restaurants that you find that are dark and grim inside and don't care about their decor.... this place is the exact opposite. They have done a great job with making this place look super nice. Everyone has been super friendly and very attentive. Didn't have to ask for refills. But they weren't overly attentive to the point of annoying. The food was fantastic. We got the gator kabob to start. Delicious flavor and tasted fresh. Hubby got the Fried Shrimp Po'Boy with a side of Minorcan Clam Chowder. Very fresh and flavorful. I got the Steamed Clams with Toast Points. Surprisingly, it was actually 2 large pieces of toast, but it was a pleasant surprise. The menu advertises that their bread and sauces are fresh and house made and I believe it. I keep coming back! The red clam chowder is too exciting!!! It reminds me of Maryland crab soup; hardy and flavorful with vegetables. It's worth the hour drive. My husband is also complimentary of the variety of choices on the menu. Enjoy this delicious soup. read more

We came in on a Monday evening, the restaurant layout is very open so we could see all the tables and what was going on inside. There was a sign up front that stated 'seat yourself' and within the two minutes we were there we were greeted and the waitress who greeted us reiterated the sign and told us to choose a seat. Since the layout is very open, we could see all the other tables, there were a few parties of 6 -8 people, lots of kids in these groups too, but they had food and drinks already and most of the business was seated around the bar so it didnt seem incredibly busy. We walked past several tables, most of which were dirty with food debris and plates, eventually finding a somewhat clean table near the back of the restaurant. We sat here, waiting 15 minutes, while the two servers and one bar tender ran around us or walked past us tending to tables. We didn't have menus and no one acknowledged us after having sat down. So we went to get menus ourselves and had pretty much decided what we wanted for both food and drinks, as we'd had more than enough time to decide. 5-10 more minutes passed and the bartender came around and took our drink order and left. There isnt all too much to do but look around, the restaurant does have a nice water view... but glancing around wondering where our drinks are, we could see that up near the bar, a couple who had just sat down way after us were already served drinks and was discussing the food menu with the bartender, who'd just taken our order 5 minutes before. We still didn't have drinks. Other people who came in sat for a few minutes had also left, no one had gone to their tables either. We took this as a very bad sign, so before our drinks even came, we decided to go too, which was was a great idea and left to go down the street to try elsewhere. The restaurant is a great place to sit back to enjoy the view and a drink. Nicely decorated and not very busy since they just opened. It does not make sense to let a party of 8 leave the premises because they have a policy of do not rearrange, move the tables, or whatever. Ridiculous! I guess the owner does not care about customer service or he does not trust the employees are able to take care of a group larger than 4 which is the regular siting for their tables.. Get the fish tacos! I got the crab cake sandwich and my husband got the fish tacos and his were 10x better than mine. I barely ate a few bites but stole some bits from him! They are big too, you could probably split them if you got an appetizer. We got the fried green tomatoes and those were great! This place is absolutely worth the drive, no matter where you're coming from. Chef is doing some really creative things. We had the pecan crusted redfish and the shrimp and grits. The fish dip appetizer came with deep-fried saltines which was ingenious. Everything was well prepared, extremely flavorful, and uniquely treated. The pecan crusted redfish has some sort of crazy seasoned whipped butter that made it perfect. Definitely a rave review. And the view over the gulf is spectacular. I understand it's walk up service for the lower bar, however when our group asked the bartender for a cloth to wipe off the food and mess from the last group she was very rude. "When I get time." There were maybe 5 other people in the building. We asked to order food and she said to wait until the next shift came on in a few minutes, ok, we can do that. The next shift came on and we were told the kitchen cut off service for the lower bar. Had a great lunch today at the seafood festival. Came early at 1130 whereas the lunch rush at 1230 had to wait and hour. I had the dozen steamed clams for around $11. Specifically chose to go to this restaurant because reviews spoke of it being pet friendly but the moment I walked in with my 12lb service dog the hostess seemed very upset. She complained that people try to come to the restaurant with dogs that are 'therapy' dogs and that they only allow service dogs. I showed her my dog's ID and assured her that we would be sitting outside. She seemed very put off still and it made part of the dining experience uncomfortable. Hands down our waiter was the most kind, accommodating and knowledgeable of the menu. Our experience would not have been what it was without him. Two of the four in our party needed gluten free and he knew the ins and out of the menu down to the marinades. I had the burger no bun and side salad and slaw and it was VERY good! The other entree came out incorrectly so they made it right quickly. If he had brought it to the table I have no doubt it would have never made it to us. Not only did they have heat, they had a super friendly staff that made us feel at home and a spectacular view of the Gulf. Must be about 16 beers on draft with cider, IPAs and a nice selection of microbrews. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Claiming to be waterfront seafood restaurant in Cedar Key, they were out of oysters, clams, French fries, and coconut rum (relevant as it's an ingredient in one of the menu "specials"). Ended up ordering a shrimp po boy, which was decent and hush puppies which were extremely dry. The key lime cake was pretty good, but not nearly as good as actual key lime pie. Service was excellent. The AC units and some of the windows had water issues so mopping was a constant by the staff. Food was excellent.
