a drink and a snack on a table

I discovered this Meadery while exploring the Medina area. Their tasting room is currently closed due to COVID, but you can get a flight of three meads to sample or purchase a glass to sip in their "Bee Garten" . They also offer Mead Slushees and Craft beer from various breweries. I opted for the Ginger Peach mead Slushee, $6, and my father ordered a Scotch Ale, also $6. The slushee was sweet and strong, as you would expect anything made with a mead would be! Because of Cuomo's rule, we also ordered a snack pack of cheese , cranberries, and nuts for $5 for nibbling. The Bee Garten was a cool atmosphere to sample the beer, with lots of old school jams playing. The owner gave us also a brief history of the building....before it was a meadery. it was a clothing manufacturer in the early 1900s with a small 8 room hotel inside. I am glad I came across this place, you can tell a lot of pride and hard work went into their business and their products.

Mead and chocolate tastings! SO GOOD! From left to right: Old Lunch Bucket, 21 Bean Salute, Maple Tap.

My boyfriend and I did the Lockport Cave tour today and it was there that I picked up a booklet on agricultural and culinary stops around Niagara county. I was going to skip right over the wineries section but #1, 810 Meadworks, caught my eye. Considering my boyfriend loves Mead and the caves are only 25 minutes away, we made the trip. 810 Meadworks was a refreshing stop on this 90 degree day. There was lots of nearby free parking (considering it was a Saturday around 3pm) and a lot of other cute shops nearby. The entrance is shared with two other businesses but look for the beautiful blue doors and sign to welcome you. You'll walk past the Mead tanks and can peek at what they're making. Once you're in the tasting room, you can sit at the bar, on the couch, or in the desk chairs. Looks like it would be Gould for groups too. They also have a courtyard which they do Saturday outdoor concerts during the summer. We both got our own $5 tastings and split the $3 chocolate tasting. They make the chocolate too and have a different kind for each mead. You get three fairly large barks of rich chocolate, so I would recommend splitting with 1-2 people. You can also order mead by the glass, and they have cocktails as well. With all the varieties to chose from, I would recommend each person get their own tasting so you can try more of the meads. I would highly recommend visiting even if you have to make a special trip. Medina is a cute village filled with historical buildings... After the tasting we drove around the corner to see the giant apple then through the Erie Canal Culvert tunnel, which is the only tunnel that goes beneath the Erie Canal.

Beautiful space. Delicious meads. Friendly staff. My husband and I came here as part of our road trip through New York and we were so pleased with our experience. They have a variety of meads with fun flavors for a great price. Our favorite was the 21 Bean Salute, a coffee and vanilla bean infused mead. Very tasty! Other unique flavors include pear and cucumber/pineapple. The staff was very friendly. If we're ever back in the area we will definitely stop by again. If not, we'll order it online!

I am not a big drinker, but I still like this place. It has a nice and relaxed vibe about it. They have a good variety of mead from dry to sweet. I didn't pay attention enough attention until my last visit, but they serve food. Not full meals or anything, but enough to snack on. I got the cheese tray and it was pretty good. The maple bourbon fromage they have from First Light Farm and Creamery is AMAZING. I also did a chocolate tasting and that was great as well. I wouldn't drive the 25 minute it takes me to get here, but if I was in the area I would stop again.

This has got to be one of the most interesting places I've been to. They have the most lovely flavor selections of mead, ranging from dry to sweet. There are bottled selections and canned selections, as well as different canned beers. The idea of fermented honey as a beverage was wild to me, and it was such a treat to try. The flavor profile on these meads was complex and well put together. The owner was there when we had sat down, and had willingly explained his business with us as well as mead at large. He was very friendly, a personable guy, and very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. This place has couches, a nice back patio for when it's nice out, and even chocolate pairings to go with your mead! The bartender was sweet and was also very well informed. We'll be making it a regular thing to visit this place, as should anyone within a couple of hours!

A lot of fun at 810 Meadworks. Laid back place in the historic center of Medina. The prices were right and the staff helped pair all the tastings with different chocolates - $3 for three and add another $3 for three chocolates, you can't beat it. The wine / beer they serve is made form honey so it's kind of a hybrid. There were a lot of different forms (hot, spicy, carbonated etc) and ways to serve so we basically tried every type offered. The highlight was the Krēmsickle - just the smell was awesome and tasted just like the old school frozen ice cream bar. $13 for a bottle is a steal

We've been meaning to trek over to Medina to try out 810 Meadworks basically since it opened, but just hadn't gotten around to it until Saturday, when my husband and I drove over to hear my cousin's band play as part of their concert series. Neither of us could remember having mead before, and we just didn't make trying it a priority. We're now kicking ourselves for two reasons: mead is awesome (at least, theirs is) and we'd been missing out, and we didn't buy a bottle to bring home with us. It was raining (for once this summer...), so the band had moved inside, and basically all we could do was order quickly between songs and sip them while the music played. We're looking forward to going again when it's more quiet to hear about how the mead is made, what they'd recommend, and pair the drinks with the yummy looking plates they had listed. We'd like to try the cocktails, too! I started with a trio of Liquid Sunshine (semi-sweet), Kremsicke (sweet) and Clinton's Folly (sweet). We'd just had dinner, so I was looking for something a little more dessert-oriented. None of them disappointed! Liquid Sunshine was carbonated and so refreshing-- it reminded me a bit of a really fine cider. Kremsicke and Clinton's Folly (named after the creator of the Erie Canal, not the first female president) were also both great, but it was Liquid Sunshine that I ordered again as a full glass. My husband went for a full glass of the 21-bean salute (semi-sweet), which he enjoyed. The decor is playful and fun-- the exposed ceiling and rustic bar pair well with upholstered couches and armchairs and clear plastic barstools and chairs. The beegarten outside (geddit?) is so cool-- all brick, wood, and bistro lights. We'd been there for a concert when it was a different business and it was raining then, too-- someday we are going to sit in that amazing outdoor space without getting wet!

A good place to try various delicious meads, and which all is produced on site. I personally love their "Ghost of Mary", and which is a Bloody Mary with ghost peppers. Great prices, and friendly service! This place is a must when in the area!

Wonderful. I've always wondered what mead tastes like and I'am pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere and staff - lindsay(?) was super informative about each mead which was a delight. We ended up leaving with a box of bottles. This place is a must.

I got the Horchata one (since that is also something I enjoy). The first sip was good, but the more I drank of it, the more it just tasted fake and flavored, and I did not finish it. Based on that one I wouldn't want to try others. The food menu is very limited. The pizza crust is very thin - more like a crackery flavor - and the pepperoni is only in a circle on the outside? So it's basically a cheese pizza until you get to the crust unless you want to reorganize the toppings yourself. Atmosphere varies - many times I have stopped by and it was standing-room only and very loud, and I left without making it up to the bar. This time I came early enough that I was able to get a seat. It feels very dark after coming in from outside. Staff is friendly. Decor is fun and bee-themed. Restrooms are easily accessible and all-gender. Overall it is a fun place to hang out but the food and drinks didn't do it for me.

It finally opened in May, 2025. There was much anticipation in the Winter of 2023 and Spring of 2024, when it was announced that the long-vacant restaurant at the front of the Comfort Inn & Suites Buffalo Airport would finally have a tenant. I went there twice - once in May and once June on Friday evenings. Both times, mead was unavailable, although it was advertised that tastings were available. The first time I went, I ordered food. There were 5 or 6 people seated at tables, while I sat at the bar. If remember correctly, they grudgingly reopened the kitchen (it was 950 pm) and they were open until 11. The menu was limited, and I ordered a $23 chicken sandwich, which was decent, but way overpriced and fries were not available. Most of the menu items were $21-$25 sandwiches. I ordered a beer that was $10 - in other establishments, the same beer was $6-$8. Around 1030 pm, two couples came in. And around 1045, a group of coworkers came in after work. All were eager and enthusiastic to try out this new place they'd heard so much about. You could tell the owner did not want to stay open, as it was almost the posted closing time, but I believe he stayed open a bit later. I left as soon as I ate and finished my beer, so I never did see what time he closed. The second time I went in, I asked for mead - there was none - ordered a beer and left. Over the next few months, the hours open constantly changed, according to the sign. My take on the place - well-intentioned, but very overpriced, not well-stocked/supplied/staffed, and very unorganized. I'm not a business owner, and I don't want to bash the owner, but in this day and age of Post-Pandemic inflation (and difficulty in finding good help and reliable suppliers), it's important to be competitive and flexible. If you're situated in prime real-estate, such as the front of a hotel, and your bar/restaurant is an oasis amongst several OTHER hotels and an airport, not to mention nearby neighborhoods, you take advantage of the situation and YOU STAY OPEN. Past 11 pm. I'm not saying 3 or 4 am, but on Friday and Saturday nights, it's not unreasonable to stay open until 1 am. And for goodness sakes, if you're worried about liability, partner with Uber - the Tim Horton's parking lot next door is practically an Uber/Lyft driver's haven - it's their staging lot. Those dudes are waiting there 24/7 for fares. You want to close the kitchen? Advertise a cut-off time - 1030, 11 pm, on Friday/Saturday. 930 on other nights. Don't sell $25 chicken sandwiches that are worth $10-$15. Drop your beer prices to $7 or $8. Have some sort of gimmick that you can make a huge markup on - partner with Genny and get a few kegs or cases of 12 Horse Ale or Oktoberfest. Pretty much ANY of their beers is affordable. Stock it. Sell it for $4 a can or glass. Alongside your $8 beers. And whatever the market price is for the mead. Get some Sabrett hot dogs and sell them for $4 or $5. They're probably the best hot dog you can buy. Sell them alongside the more expensive food. You'll be a hero. Drunk people will love you. The lunch hour crowd will increase through word-of-mouth alone. Out-of-towers will remember you fondly. People will still buy the mead and the other beers and sandwiches. But something's got to give. I hope if he reopens somewhere else, the owner is successful. He's a nice guy, and the place has potential. But I hope he can learn from his mistakes and move on.
