I orderer the Spider Roll because I was craving freshly made sushi and tempura soft shell crab. What I got was a left over sushi roll from the day before? A lot about it taste old, especially the essentials. The rice taste like it was sitting there all day. A little hard and dry. The tempura soft shell crab just didn't taste like it was tempura. Tempura is supposed to be crunchy. Mine was dry, chewy, and old tasting. Did they even cook it? Was it just thawed ans served? I've had better tasting spider rolls from the delis in groceries. For the price I paid for this... it was not worth it. It really feel like I got cheated. Avoid the spider roll. Or any sushi if they treat all their sushi like this... or just order the California roll. Ar least they cannot mess that up... read more

This is the second time I've been to this location and the first time was great but I was disappointed the second time around. Although the drinks are great, the service wasn't at all. The waiter told a couple of jokes but then service went down hill. Jokes turned into insults and a lack of professionalism which included sarcasm when my friend asked about the menu items. We were a big party of 25 and the waiter didn't tell us that kids eat free on Sunday's which we didn't see the sign until after we paid. When we brought it to the managers attention he just shrugged and gave half an apology and did nothing. The food is mediocre but I would go elsewhere for this type of service and "just ok" food. My friend likes to eat here for his birthday and most of the guests drive over an hour away to join but we won't be picking this place again. read more

We lovingly call this place 8 Mile. ;) The food here is excellent. There is a ton of flavor and the ingredients are fa-resh!! It's also in a great location, smack dab in the middle of downtown Roselle. For appetizers, the seaweed salad is a refreshing renewal of a classic. There's a cucumber bedding underneath. The pot stickers are scrumptious. The wonton is delicate and not too doughy, perfectly paired with the dipping sauce. Crab rangoon is delish- but it's a reliable app that is always safe to order. Love that they support the local winery, Lynfred. There's always new Lynfred wines to order by the glass or bottle. There's even events that join the two power houses, Asian cuisine and Wine?!? Yes please! For main course I LOVE the Seven Flavor Chicken. The sushi is great. Can be an appetizer or a main course. We have ordered the Roselle Town Hall... I do not recommend this party tray. Most of the pieces of fish are unusual cuts and we had a hard timing stomaching all of it. Worth paying slightly more and get the exact rolls you want. Dessert. Usually we have no room for dessert BUT when we must, we must have the mochi balls. They are light, flavorful, and you leave 8 mile feeling like you've had a complete dining experience. What I'm not a fan of is the dining experience. I do like the modern ambiance BUT it's arranged like a large dining hall. It feels like a cafeteria when it's empty or filled with people. When it is filled with patrons, its very noisy, chaotic and crowded feeling. Regardless, we love coming here. It's close. It has great dishes. Serves fab drinks.... Nothing else to desire. ;) read more

Food and service are great. But if you're coming in with sushi in mind, I'd suggest you go to a more authentic japanese/sushi bars instead - more sushi with less bucks == happier tummy and tastebuds!;) Try the scallion pancake rolls! Really tasty! read more

I was there to see the entertainment and have some drinks and possibly some food. I was put on a table and then immediately asked to move to another table. Fine I'll move to another table. As I was looking at the menu, the waiter comes to me asks me to move AGAIN! I was pissed and the waiter throws the menu down. Then the host comes to me ask me if I wanna stay! Anyway, I left! Will never come back! Too bad I like going there for lunch and sitting outside, but NEVER again! I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Fried rice and General's chicken was amazing!! Full of flavor. Not salty or two sweet. We are excited to order again!

Went here for lunch with coworkers and honestly was slightly disappointed. We ordered appetizers, rolls, and meals. 2 people ordered the lunch meals that should have come with spring roll and soup. Neither came. Two shared a dinner meal and received no rice. Once the waiter came around again we asked and it was very strange. He said the rice was coming right out and that the spring roll was just put in. We were already done eating at this point so it just had to be boxed up. The soup was completely ignored and never brought to table. It seems odd to skimp on the cheapest things because then you just have upset and unhappy customers rather than just giving us everything that should be included with the meal. The sushi was ok. The meals (honey chicken and honey beef) was VERY sweet. I unfortunately won't be returning. read more

Went there on nye for early dinner, around 430. Had sushi rolls, roselle roll was excellent tasting and presentation was excellent as well. I had a drink called "geisha" that was fruity but sophisticated and was yummy! Service was a little slow. Give it a try! See how you like it read more

very convenient and quiet environment nice to have friends around hangout not only for the food but also for time together

We like TL's Four Seasons in Bartlett and this is the same ownership so we gave it a try. There are some dishes that are the same as TL's but they also have their own unique dishes as well. Personally, we are huge fans of the potstickers and the garlic beef. The service is friendly, sometimes a little bit slow -- but overall a consistently good dining experience. The drinks are delicious. And the atmosphere is great. read more

Came here for lunch with my parents to kick a serious sushi craving. Hit the spot! Most asian fusion restaurants have been disappointing for me but at 8000 Miles both Chinese and Japanese dishes were delicious. For appetizers we ordered potstickers and crispy rice. The potstickers were good but nothing special compared to some of our other dishes. Crispy rice was yummy! Sort of an inside-out spicy tuna roll. My mom also order their house made ginger ale...YUM! Very fresh, light, and sweet. For entrees we had ginger asparagus shrimp, shanghai fish, and a ben roll. The shrimp dish was definitely our favorite; cooked and seasoned to perfection. The shanghai fish and ben roll were both from the specials menu and were equally satisfying. Shanghai sauce had similar flavors to sweet and sour sauce and was poured over crispy flaky fried fish. Loved the ben roll, the red pepper and cilantro gave it a unique taste. We also had the banana nutella wontons for dessert which were okay, nice with the side of ice cream. The space itself is beautiful, they also have a huge patio that I'm sure is awesome in the summertime. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because our service was kinda slow, especially since the place was pretty empty. Also they were playing terrible music which totally took away from the atmosphere. Overall this place is a win! read more

My husband planned a wonderful surprise party for my birthday. We were there on 2/12/18 along with about 25 friends. They are normally closed on Monday's, but owners Ben and Shawn opened up the restaurant just for our group. They had our tables set up in the middle of the restaurant, because we had the whole place to ourselves. Ariel and Jon were our servers/bartenders for the evening and were very attentive to our needs. Our preset menu included some crowd favorites that allowed our guests to experience a selection of what they have on their normal menu. Our sushi included Spicy Tuna Maki (my personal favorite), California Roll, and Tempura Roll. We also had Pot Stickers, Combination House Fried Rice, and Crispy Spice Calamari. Oh, and great wine and cocktails! Everything was perfect! read more

I was choking on the delisious kung pao chicken when an ambulance came. great food though. would come again if i dont choke.

Went in for a visit with my wife after catching a showing of Godzilla and despite protests of going somewhere a bit more familiar, we gave 8000 miles a shot. Much to our disappointment, it didn't stand out all that much. The service was fantastic, welcoming and exceptionally friendly, but it was the food that failed to really achieve any sort of distinctiveness during our visit. My wife's Pad Thai was bland, with little taste to the noodles. Admittedly, she said she wasn't looking to have any spice in the dish, but that shouldn't render it devoid of anything palatable. Similarly, my sushi failed to offer any flavor above the typical conveyor-belt style offerings. Disappointingly average, no more or less. read more

I would say this place is a repeat. We liked the food, I would give it 8/10. We had crab Rangoon and pot stickers for appetizer . For the main course I had the cumin scanted lamb and hot and sour soup, my wife had Mongolian beef and our 8 year old had kids sushi and chicken dumpling soup. All was good. I had cumin lamb in Shenzhen two years ago, and I think this one measured up to the Chinese one. Desert was good too, chocolate banana wanton. Server was a little rough on the edges but still cordial and hospitable. We were pleased. read more

Recommended we go to this restaurant for dinner with friends. They loved it as much as we do. We had 4 different appetizers which were all great - the Edamame, crab rangoon, pot stickers and some Chinese chips with the delicious dip. Three of us had the Crispy Garlic Shrimp which was awesome and the 4th person had Pad Thai. Our of our dinners were very large portions so we all took meals to finish at home. The drinks were also good and reasonably priced. In all and excellent meal in a very nice atmosphere. read more

We love this place. Right up the street and great patio. Quite disappointed though that they haven't opened patio during Phase 3. And now it's Phase 4 and not opening anything stillll??? Glad that roselle peeps have been helping them out during COVID with carry out but I think they're doing better with carry out than when they were actually open, so will they ever open up so we can get out of our homes??? We probably will stop doing carry out for awhile here so that we can actually go and visit other places. Tired of eating at home. Let is come BACK soon 8000 miles!!! We have been helping you. I went here with a couple of friends on a beautiful evening. There was about a 20-30 minute wait to be seated outside on the patio, which was totally fine with us, and so we sat at the bar inside and had a couple of drinks and an order of crab rangoon while we waited. This was all very good, and the service was even better, being very friendly and attentive. We were seated outside before too long, and among us, we placed an order of vegetable fried rice, pad thai, philly roll, and rainbow roll. Let me just tell you that my friends who ordered the fried rice and pad thai will have leftovers for at least a week! So much food! The fried rice tasted as it should, but the pad thai wasn't as tasty as we've had at other places, and that's usually a staple dish with Asian fusion restaurants. The maki dishes were as expected, but nothing to write home about either unfortunately. The main gripe was their form of live entertainment. While this might not be an everyday thing for the restaurant and others might have enjoyed it, the man on guitar overstayed his welcome by playing for HOURS. At least take a break, man! He wasn't awful, but when going to an Asian-themed restaurant, I wasn't looking to listen to obscure acoustic oldies. That really killed the atmosphere for us. Overall, the service was great, the food was okay, and the atmosphere was okay. Inside was very neat and visually appealing. It was just that guy! We drove be an hour or two later after we had left, and he was still playing! Props to him for having such endurance! Would I go again despite this man? I'd probably try out other Asian restaurants before I'd come back for a second round. read more

We went here last night at 7:15pm. We sat down at the bar. The Hostess came running over and said it would be 25 minutes we have a wait list. We said ok we will have a drink and wait. She said that would be 25 minutes. The Bartender/Server was behind the bar all he had to do was turn around pour one beer and one glass of wine. There were 2 other people at the 7 seat bar. Clearly they don't want the local business. So we left. On our way out she told us to have a nice evening. Oh and the wait list? There were two people standing outside but I'm pretty sure they were not waiting to get in because the place was empty on the inside. The sad part is they have a sign on the door that says please be patient we are short staffed and we totally get it but for her to turn us away when we were willing to wait 25 minutes she obviously does not care weather that restaurant makes it or not! We took our local money down the street to Pollyanna! read more

Im giving this resturant 4 out of 5 stars cause my recent experience has been unpleasant. I have ordered food here several times for delivery. Pad tai, scehwan dumplings, sushi and it has all been great. Today i ordered my usual Pad tai and decided to add an order of calamari. The calamari was so salty and overfried that they were naked little dried up rubber rings. The batter had been fried right off half them and they were super chewy. I called to relay my experience it was 130pm and i was told there is no manager onsite till after 4pm the next day. How do you successfully run a food service business with no manager checking food quality? Only positive note today was that the pad tai was still delicious. read more

They have a nice patio, if you don't mind trains roaring bu six or seven times an hour, blaring their horns an unnecessary amount of times. The food was just okay. We had the scallion pancakes which were nice enough, though bit anything I'd order again. My date had the beef and scallions, which was a huge portion, and by his report it was pretty good. I'm not sure what the entree I ordered tasted like because it's not the entree I received. I ordered the Harvest roll but whatever I got didn't have asparagus or sweet potato tempura. Kind of a disappointment. At least the company was good! read more

I feel like the abundance of reviews for 8000 Miles average in the opinion of good but not great. And from my experience this evening, I would have to agree. It feels a bit like the restaurant is really reaching and trying to be an upscale dining destination when in reality it's just the local corner Asian place. Sorry, but, I'm not. This was not where we intended to have dinner, but after the place we were planning to order from was closed, I spotted this place on my way to pick my wife up from her workout down the street with Ericka Z. I've heard good things from a work friend and while I waited for my wife, I decided to order takeout thru the Yelp app. Pickup time indicated 15-20 minutes. We were there in 15 and waited another 20-25 before the food came out, with no apologies and two irritated looking young servers. The price for two entrees came to a steep $27, which is about $5 more than I think it's worth. Again, they're going for faux upscale and missing the mark. The fact that only a handful of diners were there at 7 pm on a Thursday was indicative of this, not to mention the fact that the kitchen was so slow. The basil garlic chicken was very good. I'd order that again. The Seven Flavor Chicken was anything but flavorful. It was a watered down General Tso. The description doesn't say the chicken is breaded, and the flavor was barely there. I'd definitely skip this if I were you. In fact, skip the whole place. There are much better and cheaper options out there. read more

Everything is fantastic here but mostly I dream about the crab rangoon which has to be the best ever.

The first and last time I ever came here, I was carrying a small shopping bag because we were having "a night on the town" and wanted to check out this new restaurant. We were turned away and we were told we can't bring our shopping bag in and had to put in the car. That is so stupid. The car was 3 blocks away, too. This was soon after the grand opening. The staff was extremely rude. We never even considered going back because of how horrible of an experience it was. read more

Been all around the country and 8000 Miles is still our favourite restaurant! Great food, atmosphere and service.

Every time I order from here via Uber Eats, the order is fresh and correct. I love the large selection and fairly moderate prices. A few months back I actually saw the place and I'm really liking their modern look. Overall great selection, taste, and decent prices for some of those delicious specialty plates. I'd recommend them as one of the better sushi/Asian places around. read more

My first time here on a Sunday early evening - dining room had quite a few patrons, but it was pretty "open" for the most part (I suspect due to the time around 5:30ish..). First - I loved that it was not overly crowded. Second - the host greeted us immediately and was very nice (he even walked me over to the ladies room when I asked where it was located) yes, I thought that was odd, but nonetheless it was a nice gesture. Third - our server could not have been friendlier or more attentive. Great experience so far right? I'm thinkin 'yay I'm a fan'! My friend & I were craving sushi, so we only looked at the 'small plates' and maki rolls off the menu. We started with the Tuna Avocado Sumiso and Sichuan dumplings. The tuna avocado was described as having 'large pieces' of big eye tuna. Not only was the bowl it arrived in small, but the tuna was cut very small as well (picture a dice cut into 4 pieces) with small sliced avocado. While this dish had a tasty sesame-miso sauce - we just wanted MORE, MORE... it felt like a toddler sized serving??? There was just not enough tuna... The Sichuan dumplings were delicious. chicken dumplings (made in house) with a super tasty spicy sauce (chili oil, garlic, scallions)..not as much heat as I would have liked, but I would definitely order this again and one small plate is not enough for two people... 6 dumplings on the small side...um...I'd like more, more please? Out comes our rolls: Triple k.c. & Roselle roll. Triple k.c. was cucumber wrapped (thick sliced cucumber, not paper thin) smoked & Scottish salmon, crabmeat and a dab of cream cheese sitting in rice wine. This was absolutely delicious. Not a complicated roll, simple ingredients - but nicely done!! I'd like to meet the creator of this roll!!! So refreshing and light!!! WINNER! . Again, I could have had 2 plates of this myself. Who doesn't want more cucumber? I highly recommend trying this... On the flipside, the Roselle roll was good.. Large roll and much more filling...10 super sized pieces filled with shrimp tempura, asparagus, daikon, avocado, tempura flakes, cream cheese? Lots going on here...I enjoyed both rolls, but LOVED the triple k.c....I will be returning here....Service was very, very good. While service and some dishes deserve a 4. Serving size on starters and lack of tuna was a 3. Overall, 3.5. read more

In the shadow of Lynfred Winery and spitting distance from the Metra lies 8000 Miles. I don't know much (read: anything) about Roselle, but given my experience I'm going to call it a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I'm wary of places that try to be everything to everyone - in this case Chinese, Japanese, and a little Thai, but 8000 Miles seems to be pulling it off. My only complaint (if you could call it that) about being 8000 Miles a bit of everything to everyone is that the menu is really large; it took all of us a while to decide on what to order; on the flipside, it gives you plenty of reasons to return. Our group started with four appetizers - potstickers, crab rangoon, scallion pancake, and fried spring rolls. Seeing as there were five of us, I wish our server gave us an inkling about portion sizes. With all of our food preferences, it ended up working out, but not everything was easily split 5 ways. I tried every item except for the potstickers and of those four would recommend the scallion pancake and spring rolls. The crab rangoon, while not oily, simply had too much wrapper and too little filling. While the scallion pancake was quite delicious, I suggest asking for a side of sauce; the amount drizzled on the plate simply wasn't enough. For dinner, I ordered the thai basil shrimp and my dining companion and I shared a yellowtail spice lovers maki. The maki was good, not overloaded with rice, whole pieces of fish and it brought some heat; I would definitely order it again. I would also order the tuna poke roll; one of our fellow diners got it and raved about it - it was plated beautifully with lots of raw tuna dotting the top of the roll. What can I say about the thai basil shrimp? Holy citrus Batman! If you do not love citrus, do not order this dish; the citrus was a bit overwhelming, like a slap in the face. A citrus fan, I truly enjoyed it, but was disappointed that there was no hint of the heat the menu alluded to. Otherwise, the dish was great; a colorful dish full of fresh ingredients and a hearty helping of shrimp. What I found bizarre was that one of my dinner mates got the thai basil chicken and it was an entirely different dish; they looked (and presumably tasted) nothing alike. Like I said, 8000 Miles has something for everyone, including a gluten free menu and plenty of vegetarian options. They also have a good drink menu, which includes a Midwest craft beer menu, specialty cocktails and homemade ginger ale. I'm not usually out in the Roselle area, but if I was, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. read more

I went here on Valentines Day this year with my fiance. I am giving 2 stars mostly because of the very poor service I received. First off, I had a reservation and checked in with the host. Then as our reservation time passed we noticed that she was seating customers that were walk ins, AFTER, our reservation. Not to mention they "walked in" after we had already been waiting. Finally once we were the only 2 people left in the lobby, the host approached us and said, "oh what was your name again." And with no apology to follow, she said your table will be ready in a few minutes. I guess reservations mean nothing to this restaurant. Honestly the food was good, but if you are looking for Chinese food in Roselle, I would recommend Noodles Delight. The food is better, but the service is top notch. If you want sushi, try Abashiri, it's fresher and the service is a lot better. I forget my servers name, but she had purple streaks in her hair. It took (we timed her) 25 minutes to get our drinks, a beer and glass of wine. After the long delay our drinks, including water, were never refilled and we were never asked if we want a refill. Apparently she failed to realize that we were eating spicy and salty food so chances are, we would be thirsty. I also noticed everyone in our section was having the same issue with there drinks. The food took a very long time and was paced terribly. Our first app came out quick, our second took a very long time and was cold when we got it. Our dinners took 20+ minutes after we finished our appetizers. When we finally got are dinner, none of specifications we changed on our order were changed. My fiance has a few food allergies, and she spent most of her dinner picking out the stuff that she asked to be taken out of her order. The night turned into us just being frustrated the entire time because of our incompetent server. I would be willing to return, but I will be sitting at the bar. read more

We were in the area and stopped in for dinner. It was not busy. The hostess seemed more than annoyed when I asked if we would be sitting in the sun on the patio. She never really answered so we chose to sit inside. Our waiter was a little goofy in trying to be friendly, but he was efficient enough. Appetizers (potstickers) arrived quickly and were delicious. My buddy order sushi, I ordered the Mongolian Chicken. I as not impressed with my meal. The chicken was far from tender and some pieces I couldn't chew up enough to swallow. The vegetables seemed under-cooked as well. My buddy said the sushi was okay, but nothing special. For the price, I would have expected something better. read more

Asian Fusion is my weakness. Always has been, always will be. I don't know what it is...the salty soy? Maybe the oodles of noodles? Rice for days? Either way, I love it and 8000 Miles gives me exactly what I crave. The menu is slightly overwhelming, with dishes that touch Japanese, Chinese, and Thai cuisines. It's never easy to decide what to get, but the menu caters to both veggie heads and meat lovers. A few of my personal faves include: Chicken Dumpling Soup, Potstickers, Basil Garlic Chicken, Sesame Beef, and the Harvest Roll. Prices are reasonable and service is usually pretty friendly. A few times I've made special requests to alter some dishes, and the staff was happy to accommodate. To be honest and fair, the menu is similar to what you would find at P.F. Changs, Big Bowl or Wok N' Fire. However, 8000 miles does it bigger and better - and is worth checking out. Bonus points to them for finally bringing a great restaurant to downtown Roselle. read more
