3 for $5 Taco Assortment (@miguelmoralesphotography on Instagram)

Got the 3 for $5 Taco special and it was really good! Well worth the price and would recommend if you're in townside and want a good meal at a good price! - Miguel Morales Photography

Mini tacos not too bad for the price. The shrimp and fish didn't have enough flavor and tasted a bit plain.

Tbh we bought this randomly. We were sitting in the food truck park and were kinda just like "eh why not". It actually turned out great. The food has great tastes and good flavors. It was juicy, textures were matching. Had a good experience!

Finally got my chance to try. Was not disappointed. Food was delicious & well seasoned. Salsa has some kick but well balanced with its flavor. Good value at $5 for 3 carnitas tacos & $8 for 3 birria tacos. Portion sizes are consistent with the price. Reason for 4 stars, and not 5 are: operating hours are inconsistent. It's been open for years and today was the first day I came and it was open, and often times I came during posted operating hours. Overall: I recommend for food quality and value if it's open.

I got the aloha special with shrimp, fish and birria tacos. I also paid $1 for sour and cheese and my total was $9.99. The tacos were good but very small. I had a much more satisfying taco experience at the da nani pirates.

We got the 3 for $8 tacos, Shrimp, Fish and Birria. The tacos were not that great. The tortillas were small and flavorless. The best taco by far was the Birria taco. But even so, it was not something impressive or filling. The service was fast and efficient, they accept card or cash. They accept your order and give you a number. The ambiance is more about trying different foods as they are surrounded by many food trucks. I would not go to this place again.

    Carne Asada Taco - VN

My trustworthy friend came over with some tacos which is how I got to try these folks. THE FOOD TRUCK: Located in the unofficial "Plate Lunch Marketplace" across from Costco Kahului, they're one of the tiniest trucks in the lot. Covered outdoor seating is available and parking is plentiful. FOOD: Carne Asada Taco They sell a 3 taco combo for $5 - what a deal! Said friend bought three different proteins and I ended up with the meat taco, the one I would've chosen as I'm not a fan of fish and chicken tacos. Like in the traditional way, these were soft shell tacos. But unfortunately for me were made with corn tortillas rather than my favorite, flour. I just don't care for the taste of corn tortillas, but their variety wasn't too bad. Nicely toasted, they were sparsely filled with a few bits of well-seasoned and tender meat, some cheese, a speck of sour cream (add $1) and oddly spinach rather than lettuce. It came with some kind of dipping sauce but none was needed as they had really good flavor. Not bad at all for $2 per taco. OVERALL: Very fresh tacos, great pricing.

I had two orders of their 3 tacos for $5. One beef and one carnitas. Both delicious for the money. Carnitas were the favorite in my group. A little strange for lettuce to be in my street tacos but the tacos were so good and fresh. I'll be back!

Visiting Maui with my wife and kids from LA, home of the street foods, lunch trucks, Mexican and fusion food. Was missing a piece of home and decided to look up taco stand in the hopes that I found one in Maui and I can say that I found the perfect place. 8 WONDER TACOS!!! Was fire! Had their shrimp and beef burrito, wifey had the birria burrito and my boys had the chicken quesadillas, no one was disappointed. Highly recommend this place! Friendly and great service and best of all the prices were amazing

Great family food truck. 3 appetizer size tacos for $5. are fresh and delicious. Will definitely return for more Mexican food.

Goid fresh tasty food, friendly service. Good prices for Maui. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

    Do get the garlic shrimps!!!!

We came off the airplane from LA starving and Tacos Maui 8 Wonder was the first stop!! The garlic shrimps were so perfectly cooked, they had that nice pop in your bites and just enough garlic sauce and bits to make the rice below them taste incredible, I would of loved more garlic/sauce on the side, because I'm a total sucker for garlic. But I would come back to this little shack for another round of shrimps in a heartbeat! And the crispy chicken quesadilla was delicious as well!

So a new year has come upon us, and I am back at the Food Truck area just across the street from the Costco in Kahului. I had the feeling for some Mexican this past Friday, and remembered a little small shack at the food truck area called - Tacos Maui 8 Wonder. What drew me here was the last time when I was eating here, I saw this business and was intrigued by the sign that said - "3 Tacos for $5.00 Bucks!" I made a mental note that the next time I come to the food truck area, I would give this business a try, and I'm so glad I came here! Upon walking up to the little shack I was greeted right away, and upon looking at the "3 for $5.00 taco deal", I realized you could get an array of meats in your tacos. You had a choice of the following meats - 1. Carne Asada 2. BBQ Pork 3. Chicken 4. Salmon 5. Vegan I opted for the chicken tacos, and if you want cheese & sour cream in your taco, there is an extra $1.00 charge. If you want guacamole, there is an extra charge of $1.00. I added some cheese in my tacos, and also got bottled water, but when I went to pay for my tacos & water, I was just charged $6.00. Dealages Yo! The Verdict - The tacos were OUTSTANDING!!!! You get 3 "street style" tacos in a soft shell, and some hot sauce. If you wanted a different hot sauce, at the ordering counter there was other varieties of hot sauce, and some beans which you can add to your tacos. The soft street tacos had a generous portion of meats, and the lettuce was chopped, not shredded. I enjoyed the tacos, and would gladly come back here to eat them again. If you're ever looking for a great deal on some ono tacos, you may consider checking out the - Maui Tacos 8 Wonder in the food truck area in Kahului!

These tacos are a great deal! 3Tacos for $5 can't be beat. We got the carnitas, chicken, beef, and fish tacos. The Carnitas were by far the best of the bunch, they had a great Smokey flavor to them. The fish tacos were the second best, followed by the beef and chicken. They didn't have as much flavor as the Carnitas tacos though. Next time I'll have to try the Vegan tacos!

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. All the food trucks are ringed around the central tables and look for the aquamarine Da Soriano truck over by the road. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

Peeked their Instagram and saw a corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich. Say what? Less than 5 minutes later I was texting my order in. Unfortunately, no one actually ever answered my text (please don't tell people to text if you don't reply). Being impatient, I said screw it and just drove myself there to check. They are located in Kahului Industrial in the Ferguson's parking lot, across the way from Lee Bear's. It's a really, really random spot and parking could be a challenge if it gets busy. If it's slow, you could park right in front of the trailer. The family that runs this food trailer is born and raised in Guam and their menu features Chamorro cuisine like arrozcaldo, corn soup, etc. It didn't seem like it to me at first because everything was so so familiar to me, but my friend who was raised in Guam reminded me of how it's heavily Filipino influenced and mentioned that the grilled cheese sandwich was her childhood growing-up. No wonder (I'm Filipino)... Anywho, got my corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich! The corned beef isn't like your St. Patty's day corned beef, but more like the Palm brand canned corned beef. The bread was also slightly sweet and was the perfect vessel for all this deliciousness. The sandwich was so tasty and had the perfect amount of meat and cheese. Definitely a great way to start my morning and can't wait to have it again. My friend also recommended trying their corn soup & their red rice whenever it's available. Will definitely try those in the future too.
