I check a couple of places and plug in the directions for Wings Over Happy Valley. We get to the parking and she says, "I don't want wings!" Typical husband/wife interaction. Well we're pressed for time so we go in, place our order and sit down to wait. Now I've heard of places with a credit card minimum, places that don't take Amex, etc but never (since Covid lockdown was over) have I been to a place that doesn't take cash. Normally I'm a big fan of wings but I have a long drive ahead of me so I opt for boneless that I can eat with a fork. When the food comes out, I take my first bite and realize this place is something special. The most tender, moist and juicy chicken tenders I have EVER had. EVER! I am so sad I live 4 hours away!

The fries are, admittedly, very good and have a great crunch- kind of like if Raising Cane's fries were actually good. I got the chicken tenders, and they were okay. The chicken itself was tasty and juicy and seems high quality, and the medium sauce I got tasted like a good buffalo sauce, but the part that killed it for me was the breading. It was a thin, almost nonexistent layer and was extremely soggy (and I ate my order as soon as I received it), making the breading fall off and feel like I was eating a naked tender. I'm sure somebody loves that, but I need that crunch, and more than such a thin layer. The customer service was nothing special, as it IS a college town. The food wasn't bad, but nothing special and nothing worth eating twice.

Being able to pick up my (large) bakery order and not leaving someone disappointed at home makes me happy. Had my list of must haves. I meandered through all the departments. Had to bring home the red wine peppered salami. Coming home, opening the cooler, and handing out foodie presents is like Christmas morning. The oohs and aahs were heard at multiple houses. I found it to be quite a good store, with everything you could want: my weird health-food desires like coconut flour and buckwheat groats (that I usually have to visit specialty stores for); pharmacy supplies; lots of pre-made food; diverse international offerings; plenty of organic and pre-cut produce; flowers, etc. Despite it being my first time, I was able to navigate it without too much difficulty. When they were out of green onions, a friendly worker was able to refill the bin quickly for me (and direct me to the spacious, clean bathrooms). They have tons of checkout lines, only a couple were open with humans; and they have lots of self-checkout too. I mean, it's just a grocery store, but it's a pretty good one!

So we're from out of Baltimore and since we've been here, we've been looking for a nice spot to…read moresatisfy those random wing cravings. Now if you know Baltimore, you know we take our wings/chicken boxes seriously. You also might know that the best wings are inversely proportional to nice, clean spots. I'm talking about them hood wings, the ones you can only find in holes in the wall with... literal holes in the wall. We've been to and tried out Wings over happy valley and our experience with their wings was somewhat "meh" with friendly service. So when those cravings hit, we decided to branch out a bit and find something a bit easier on the wallet (another quality of good hood wings). We found canyon wings, and the reviews ironically enough got our hood senses tingling. We ordered the 25 wings with island dryub on one half and garlic hot sauce on the other. We also had sauces on the side: jamaican jerk and WTF sauce (they called it their spiciest sauce... more on that later). When we came to pick up our order and were met with somber atmosphere and the gruff but polite customer service... I knew we'd hit the jackpot. I felt right at home (again if you're from Baltimore or DC, You know what I'm talking about!).These guys understand flavor (finally)! Also let me hype what I can finally say is the closest we've gotten to authentic jamaican jerk I have tasted in State College thus far (not yet there but, close enough)...which unlike some might think, is (and in these guy's case actually tasted) different from island sauce! These wings hit all the right spots! Now about that WTF sauce...we're also African (so we like our flavors!). So... while we can say the wings pass the flavor test...Uh ... I'm learning that we have a different understanding of what hot and spicy is...it was more like...mild warm-lite. Still good... but if you're looking for a heat challenge... go Thai. make of that what you will. In summary, I think we've found our Wing spot for a while. Thanks for reading!

It's a family owned Korean Fried Chicken restaurant with 2 locations in the central PA area. The restaurant in State College is in an older building, on a side street, and it's an interesting internal layout. Parking would be on the street or a nearby parking garage. There was only one person working the counter area and the ordering process was not well thought out. The restaurant is in the basement of the building, the seating area has no natural light and it's decor is dated/lacking. We ordered fried dumplings, boneless fried chicken, rice with sauce and a bulgogi bowl between two of us. The food came out fairly quick and was honestly delicious. The boneless chicken was premade but then reheated as is typical in most asian restaurants. You have to order sauce on the side, at an additional cost, and it was a fairly small serving. These dishes have some heat, which we enjoyed, but be careful. We really liked each dish and the portions were large. As other's noted, this place was expensive. Our bill was over $50 for two of us. That's more than it's worth. If you're looking for asian inspired cuisine nearby try Bistrozine!
