Couple of items to note: the electronic gizmo on Pump #7 asked if I wanted a receipt and I pressed the "Yes" button, but no receipt printed. It's as if the button did not work. No worries. I went inside and asked for my receipt, which was provided to me in short order. While I was inside, I purchased two 20oz sodas for $2.79, which came to $2.96 with tax. I gave her $3 cash and she asked me if I wanted my four pennies back? Interesting fact: After four decades as a customer, I've never been asked if I wanted my change returned. I paused for a few seconds and during this moment noticed that her 'need a penny, take a penny' container next to the register was empty, so I responded, "No, you can keep it." But seriously, what business asks their customer if they want their change back?

I went inside to notify the employee and he (George) told me I had to call a 1-800 number that was on the machine because he just leases that machine. I went out, there was no 1-800 number, went back in, he didn't believe me and went outside with me just to find that there was in fact no number. We went back in and he proceeded to give me 2 numbers to call, both out of service, I called right in front of him and told him and he continue saying there was nothing he could do. I asked for the gas station number and manager name and he told me he was the owner. I was expressing my frustration and told him that he should have a sign on the machine if it's not working or be responsable for the equipment if it was on his business, that it wasn't fair for customers and he proceeded to tell me "Don't preach me about how to run my business". This is completely wrong, is not the money but the principle behind it. For him being the owner he should have taken some responsibility or deal with it in a more professional manner. He was dismissive from the beginning and not caring at all.

I love the new Kroger Marketplace in Chesapeake and have been very happy with the fuel center…read morelocated on the property. Make sure you get a free Kroger Plus membership so you can take advantage of in-store savings, digital coupons and fuel points. You get one fuel point for every dollar you spend so if you spend over $100 in a month you get a 10 cent per gallon discount at the pumps. Spend over $200 and you get a 20 cent discount, over $300 for a 30 cent discount and so on up to $1 per gallon discount if you spend over $1000 in a month. The fuel points you earn in one month are redeemable the following month. Any unused points expire at the end of the following month. If you regularly shop at Kroger you can really save a lot of money on fuel. Fuel savings are limited to 35 gallons which is pretty generous. If you set it up right you can bring two vehicles and fill them both up. The normal posted gasoline prices are usually fairly competitive but certainly not the cheapest however when you couple it with a discount it usually ends up being the cheapest option in my local area. Choose from regular, mid-grade, premium or diesel. Even if you don't have available fuel points you will still save 3 cents a gallon with your Kroger Plus card. This facility is new so everything is clean and organized and in proper working order. There are plenty of pumps and I've never had to wait more than a minute or two to find one available. Just scan your Kroger Plus card and the display will ask you how much of your available discount you want to use then scan your credit card and pump your fuel. The spacious layout of the plaza provides easy access in and out.

All the equipment seems to work properly (freezers, refrigerators, warmers, registers, lottery machine, gas pumps, etc...). Proper COVID-19 protocols are in place and being followed which I appreciate. Employees are always friendly and helpful. There are plenty of gas pumps and fuel is always priced reasonably, it is seldom the cheapest but is never the most expensive in the area either. Gas prices are often a little below other area 7-Eleven stores. The parking lot and outside areas are always clean and free of debris. Access in and out is controlled by a traffic signal so navigation on to busy Battlefield Boulevard is easy in either direction. Like most area 7-Elevens, they are open 24 hours a day every day.

Some employees work their butts off, management not so much. The bad: Damn lottery players bombard the store almost every other hour, especially after lunch. The food sometimes stays on the grill from morning to evening. Some packaged products are dusted and not rotated. And the majority of customers that are in the store are ghetto. But overall, what's the difference between this certain 7-Eleven compared to the rest?
