They also have breakfast sandwiches and plenty of coffee and in fact I think if you have one of their mugs you can get a free cup of coffee from time to time. Off the record I've actually gotten a free cup a few times myself just because I think at 3:00 in the morning if that's all I'm getting the person probably feel sorry for me because I'm out of 3:00 in the morning and I need coffee so they say just go ahead and take it The store itself is pretty clean especially in comparison to other convenience stores I've been in. And of course the one thing that if they're not noted for should be, is their milk. The white milk is good but the chocolate milk is oh my gosh incredible. I actually live about an hour down the road from this location and there have been times that on my way home from the Syracuse area I will stop at Byrne dairy to grab a half gallon of chocolate milk even though I can buy chocolate milk in any other store closer to me. It just tastes better.

My notes: Cheap gas as always, shiny and new, ice cream One of the things I love about this local chain Byrne Dairy Store is that they have really excellent ice cream. They're famous for black raspberry and it's amazing. It's available around the clock and it's definitely the best thing at Byrne Dairy Stores everywhere. They have some amazing fresh milks in here too.

Out in Marietta, NY, you're likely to find more cows than people. There's not much out here besides…read morehomes and farms. Though it's only about a 20 minute drive from civilization, when you're in a pinch and need one item quick, a 20 minute drive is forever. That's where D&R comes in. On the corner of Amber Rd and Otisco Valley Rd is D&R Convenience, a little unassuming building right across from Otisco Lake. But D&R is more than your normal convenience store. They have close to EVERYTHING you need in a pinch, and a couple other items you may not expect. The store is basically divided up into three sections. The right hand portion is your normal convenience/quick grocery store portion. Soda, beer, canned goods, candy, bread, milk, some frozen items, etc. The middle section is 90% hardware/tools, and 10% toys with a small assortment of kids toys. The hardware section has come in handy...nuts, bolts, duct tape, piping, hand tools, etc....a lot more than you'd expect. Definitely useful if you're trying to fix something and don't have the right tool, and don't wanna drive into the city to buy one. It's not Home Depot or anything, but there's a pretty wide selection of home improvement stuff if you need it quickly. The third section on the left is their deli. They have a wide assortment of different subs and sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, and even pizza and wings. My wife and I order from here regularly. Most of their stuff is pretty good, especially for a convenience store. They have some great loaded fries, huge portion too. Their subs can be really good. Haven't tried their pizza and wings yet. They also do ice cream in the warmer months. But they have a random assortment of other things too. DVDs, fish bait, lottery tickets, and they have a couple gas pumps as well. Everything besides their deli is a couple cents/dollars more expensive than your city stores, but nothing crazy, and worth it if you need something quick. You'd spend the extra cents/dollars in gas driving anywhere else anyway. Their employees are always very nice and helpful. There's a $5 minimum for any credit/debit card transactions. You need some canned tomatoes? They have it. A wrench? D&Rs got you. A sandwich? Oh yeah, you can get that too.

Best little corner store in the world. If you need it they got it! Thank you D&R for being the life…read moreline in Amber, NY.

Harrison bakery fresh rolls holding more meat and cheese than I've ever seen on a sub sandwich. The meat and cheese was sliced fresh and then I got lettuce, tomatoes and onions, thinly sliced on the slicer. I chose not to get any condiments... knowing this would take me a few days to finish and I didn't want it soggy. There aren't really set subs listed...he just asks what you want. I asked what he could put on an Italian sub and I got ham, salami and pepperoni. Everything was fresh and delicious and I could only eat about 1/4 of my sandwich. The BEST!

They have a little deli counter in the corner without any menu or selections displayed. Just a list of available deli meats and cheeses. I thought maybe with the way people seem to like this place, there would be more to it but the place couldn't have been more straightforward. I don't know why that caught me off guard. The guy just looked up and asked for my order and I fumbled for a second. Oh right, yeah I guess I'm getting... some subs. There was a language barrier, so I pretty much just took it into my own hands to list everything I wanted on the subs based on what I saw on the menu. They don't really have any pre-builds, so when I constructed the Italian sub through my order, they tripled up the meat. That time we had one regular turkey sub, and one absolutely packed sub with full portions of salami, pepperoni and capicola. I don't even know if they charged extra for the actual heap of meat they gave me, because they still came out to less than $10.00 a piece. They also have Jamaican style beef patties/empanadas. I don't know if they make them or if they're frozen, but around here they're not usually that different. I got mine in bread with lettuce and mayo on it like an empanada sandwich. The process was confusing because there was no feedback. When the guy asked me how I wanted it, he just shrugged and said "you can get it however you want. Everyone's got their own tastes." I tried to feel it out like do people usually order empanadas like a sandwich? "You're the customer, I'll make it however you order it!" A few more of those and I stopped asking. Whatever, put it on bread, let's sandwich this thing up. Anyway, the food is ridiculously inexpensive, and the subs are excellent quality. I don't really know the metrics for deli subs beyond hit or miss. It must be the meat they use, because the sub rolls were totally standard, and there was nothing special about how they were made. Even at the same pricing, I'd take these over Wegmans, DiBellas, Firehouse, Jersey Mike's, Jreck, any of the good deli subs I can remember getting in Syracuse. Don't overthink it, just come by and order a cold sub the way you want it. Great price, great quality, adequate service.
