It might look tiny, but don't misjudge the coffee and other drinks they are making here! I actually went back after my first order to try another beverage, it was that good. I started with a Fall-flavored 'refresher,' though I can't honestly remember the name. But, it was amazing! I was down the strip a few shops for an event, so I popped back to The Big Bean before they closed for their "Not Ready for Winter" coffee concoction. Another winner! I also picked up a couple of biscotti for later. When we did finally get around to trying them, they were incredible! Very hard and crunchy as a biscotti should be, and perfect for soaking up some coffee for dunking. And the flavors are perfect. Other people were ordering their breakfast sandwiches, which honestly looked and smelled incredible... I just didn't have room for food that day. Or, I would have totally ordered one just based off of others' orders alone! The real five-star facet here, though, was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, despite how busy they were. They still found time for friendly and cheerful banter while ringing everyone up. I don't think team members get enough credit when they go above and beyond, but please take the time to tip or at least acknowledge the fantastic folks here! Overall, it's a wonderful coffee shop that I wish were closer to home! And... had more parking! The number and orientation of spots here isn't ideal, but it's worth an extra walk (huge lot across the street) for the drinks, snacks, and people at The Big Bean. Outstanding overall experience!

When I tried to use them at the Severna Park store, I found that they had already been depleted. The employees there looked into it, confirmed there was an issue, and suggested I contact Rise Up customer service. I took pictures and sent the exact card pictures to the email website as directed. Also, it takes them a good minute to respond to an email just an fyi. After reaching out, I was told their records showed a zero balance, but no meaningful explanation or resolution was offered. What makes this especially concerning is that all four cards appeared to have gone from their full value directly to a zero balance, rather than being used gradually for coffee purchases. That seems unusual and left me wondering what happened. I appreciate the helpful staff at the Severna Park location, but I was disappointed that customer service didn't investigate further or offer any assistance. I hope Rise Up reviews its gift card processes and does more to help customers in situations like this. I should add that they suggested for me to go and ask the person I received the gift cards from which was students...I am NOT going around guessing which students/their parents about a past gift cards. I won't be recommending gift cards from Rise Up and will be honest about this place so my coworkers are aware not to put this as a favorite for a gift or treat!

The space and seating inside is limited, so it definitely seems more of a to-go than sit-down place. The staff was nothing but kind and worked very hard to keep the line moving as they were SO busy! They were giving away complimentary pastries ("mini" versions of what they'll sell regularly!) and gelato scoops as part of their first day, so I snagged an espresso scone, a slice of Cinnamon Toast Crunch banana bread, and a scoop of pumpkin cheesecake gelato. All three were SO yummy. I especially loved the gelato, which was super creamy, smooth, and pumpkin-y. I got to try a few samples of other flavors, and they were great too. I also got a pumpkin oatmilk latte to go with my pastries. I returned the next morning to see how the experience would be on a more "normal" day. I got a pumpkin oatmilk latte again, but asked for extra syrup as the first one I had wasn't quite as sweet as I would like. The woman working made my drink with one extra pump, and gave me the option to add another if it still wasn't sweet enough. I did end up needing another one, and I really appreciated that I was able to do so. I also got a full-sized espresso scone. These ones had crunchy sugar on top, which was a nice touch. Super excited to continue supporting this new local business. Hoping the community continues to show as much support as they did on the first day so this place can stick around for a while!

They small batch roast the coffee each week, and chatting with George the roaster, it only lasts in store about 7-14 days. So you know you're getting some truly fresh coffee. The smells are intoxicating, they always have a sample available too. Gotta check out the peanut butter. All three were fabulous. Grab a team member and get a sample. Many bulk food items including baking goods, spices, nuts, oils, vinegars and more. Definitely worth a quick trip to see them if you're a fan of Sprouts. Better bulk at reasonable prices.

There's a small kids' area inside with tiny chairs and books, which is such a nice touch if you're coming with little ones. Substantively, the quality of baked goods was high. Coffee cake, does not, I learned recently contain coffee; it's simply meant to be eaten with such a beverage. I got mine with a chai over some good quality oat milk. I could imagine the experience having gone smoother, but I would return if I found reason to be in Annapolis.
