The customer service manager (female) opened up a register to tackle the long lines which allowed me to check out as quickly as possible and deliver my daughter's cake in time to celebrate her birthday and to make it to the Veteran Affair's hospital in Bay pines to report to work as quickly as possible. Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. It is great to see Publix expanding beyond the boundaries of their home state of Florida and spreading throughout the southeast. Not only am I happy about it, but I am confident that the communities that Publix opens a location in are very grateful for a Publix opening by them. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and professional. Today, I watched a young woman come in and politely ask one of the employees if they were hiring. The employee responded kindly and said, "Yes, we are. Let me get the manager." When the manager came out, he barely looked at her and immediately said, "No, we're not hiring." You could see the confusion on the young woman's face after being told the exact opposite by an employee just moments earlier. She quietly walked out, and it was obvious she felt discouraged and embarrassed. As an adult observing this interaction, I couldn't help but feel that the manager may have judged this young woman before taking even a moment to speak with her or learn anything about her. Afterward, I started looking around and noticed there appeared to be very little diversity among the staff. The manager and all of the employees working at the time were Caucasian, while the applicant was a young Latina woman. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but the situation left a very negative impression. To make matters more concerning, I later checked online and found an active job posting for this location, which raises the question: if they are hiring, why was she told they were not? I cannot say with certainty what the manager's intentions were, but from a customer's perspective, the interaction appeared dismissive and unfair. I believe upper management should review this situation to ensure that all applicants are treated with respect and given an equal opportunity to be considered. This happened on 6/2/2026 between 12-2 and I screened shot the job post. Not cool Starbucks!

Since it is on the edge of town the gas prices are usually the cheapest, or at least consistently the most competitive. This location is also clean and well taken care of. An awesome thing about Wawa- they have free air! For some reason, you can't find free air hardly anywhere at Florida gas stations to fill up your tires. They also have a pretty good rewards program. The upsetting thing that doesn't make sense to me, however, is that buying gas doesn't count towards the rewards. So I don't really get gas at Wawa anymore, but they still usually have good prices at this location. The next closest Wawa is along Bartow and Edgewood about 15 minutes away. I would always choose this South Florida location to go to over the others. It's just so nice. And for a gas station they really do have decent food at great prices. You go, Wawa.
