Doc was generous as ever and paid for everything. She's too quick. Glad we found this store as we had Yelped 2 crack seed shops that were supposed to be nearby. The store in the Enchanted Lakes neighborhood is clean, but the store appears to be on the older side, as compared to the Safeway store I normally shop at - Kapahulu branch. The folks who work at this Enchanted Lakes store were very friendly & helpful as several workers came up to me offering their help/assistance when I came to the store to fix something in their office. I swear if I lived in the Kailua neighborhood, I would totally shop at this store due to the friendliness of the staff. Parking here is easy, as the supermarket is situated at a small strip mall where the parking is shared by other business nearby.

You can't walk into hygienic without feeling the sense of Aloha. From ethnic foods like pasteles to modern treats like Icees there's something here for everybody. The staff treats everyone with Aloha. Personally, I get Kava here every couple of weeks. Their Kava is the second best I've ever had, and the Fiji variety of Kava is particularly good. I was pleased to learn that they carried Kava, so I don't have to drive to Kalihi to get it, which is a relief because I'm an old fut who does not like driving in to Honolulu. They are just a 5 to 10 minute drive from Haiku Woods, so it's my preferred place to get Kava. If you live here their goods all have local appeal. If you're just visiting Honolulu, Hygienic store is a great place to get the feel of local culture and maybe discover a couple of new favorite foods.

We like the hot food plates and their deli-items like chicken salad (both original and curry are tasty) . We also like their sale items. We tried their prepackaged pound hamburgers squares on sale last week when they were Buy-one-get-one-half-off, and the meat was great grilled. The prices are higher for some items than other markets, and lower for some items.

Gas And More Gas…read more This small gas station is across right next to Windward Square with Adelas Country Eatery. The lady inside here was very friendly, she asked where I was from and told me where to eat and more importantly, where NOT to eat lol. Its very tight inside and there was a hot dog spinnin in the hot dog roller (didn't wanna take a pic of the hot dog because well it was close quarters and I felt a little shy lol). Even saw some bean burritos! (Gas and more Gas anyone?) Seemed to be a lot of variety for a small mart! I really appreciate the pleasant conversation I had in here though, I find some gas station attendants either robotically mum or grouchy lol. Shoutout to the few reviewers here and especially Nadine for pioneering this spot on the map with the FTR!

Snacktime in Kaneohe, Hawaii…read more.. Somehow, food tastes better when someone else makes it. I CAN make spam musubi, sandwiches, and breakfast... however, it's inconvenient for me to go grocery shopping, prep the items, do the cooking, and wash dishes. I just want to eat and go to sleep after my midnight shift! That's why Little Snack Shop in Kaneohe is perfect for me. Located next to a laundromat across the street from Windward Mall, there's free parking right in front and it's on my way home from work! The only drawback is that it's next to The Clubhouse... haha! Be careful in this industrial neighborhood! LOL! Inside, the shop is neat and tidy. There are a lot of beverages in the refrigerator and some homemade sandwiches. The hot food is in a warmer next to the cash register and some bentos, musubi, and pork hash are ready for takeout. On the shelves are cookies, candies, snacks, and some convenience products and canned goods. I heard that there is a new owner. The older Asian lady wasn't there. Instead, there was a younger gal. She was on the phone and was able to ring me up while holding the phone between her ear and shoulder! Haha! That's a skill! Anyway, I got a spam musubi and a breakfast bento. I really liked this simple comfort food breakfast and it gave me enough food coma to fall asleep and have some good rest! Thank goodness!

Conveniently located next door to the laundromat is The Little Snack Shop. The first few times I ventured to the hole-in-the-wall convenience store, they were closed, even though according to the posted hours they were supposed to be open. Whatever. I could easily drive down the street to Aloha Gas Station for a drink. I always gave the store the benefit of the doubt, figuring it was a small family operation. But then they crossed me. Three times. Reason #1 - No Change For You One day, I went to do laundry and the change machine wasn't working. At that time there was only one change machine in the laundromat. I didn't have any change on me or in my car. I called the laundromat's posted numbers and reached their voice mail and answering machine. It was getting late, and if I didn't do laundry soon, there wouldn't be enough sunlight to dry my clothes for work the next day. I went next door to The Little Snack Shop and was relieved they were open. The lady inside was pleasant enough, greeting me when I entered. I asked her if I could get change since the machine next door wasn't working. She said no and to contact the owner of the laundromat. Her reaction was understandable, because maybe she didn't have a lot of change and couldn't risk giving away her change to all the laundromat patrons. I told her I would buy a snack, and chose two $0.99 bags of sunflower seeds. I brought them to the register and took out a $5 bill. The woman looked at the sunflower seeds and said she couldn't give me change. I told her I was completely willing to purchase a snack. She shook her head and said that she wouldn't sell me the sunflower seeds because I was only buying it to get change. I asked her if she was serious. She said yes and took the bags of sunflower seeds and went to return them to the rack. Oh my. Reason #2 - Yesterday's Paper Is Just As Good As Today's Paper The second time I visited The Little Snack Shop, I wanted to get a Sunday newspaper. I can't remember if it was for the sales, coupons or a specific article, but when I entered the store, the lady looked up from reading her Sunday paper and smiled. She asked if I needed any help and I asked her for a Sunday paper. She said, "We don't sell the Sunday paper." I said, "But you're reading one." She replied, "This is the newspaper for the store. We have Saturday's paper, still." At this point, I was over the conversation and said, "That's okay." As I turned to leave, the lady said, "It's only from yesterday." Like I was being picky or something. I didn't answer and as I exited the store she called out, "You should try Longs." Great. So super helpful. Reason #3 - They Have Dibs on Parking Just today, when I went to do laundry, the parking lot was pretty full. The spaces in front of The Little Snack Shop were open so I pulled into one of the empty stalls. After I got out of the car and was opening the rear driver's side door to retrieve my laundry, I saw the lady from The Little Snack Shop in her car behind me, motioning me to leave. I pointed to the stall next to me and she shook her head. I pointed to the other full stalls and she motioned again for me to leave. Mind you The Little Snack Shop has a reserved stall on the other side of the parking lot, literally like 10 yards away. Sure, I had a choice and could have stayed in the spot, but that wouldn't have been very nice. So I pulled out and drove away to a different laundromat and vowed to write a scathing, I-Would-Give-It-Zero-Stars-If-Possible-Review on Yelp. As I was driving away, I noticed that she had parked so she was taking up the last two spaces in the parking lot. Wow. Terrible on so many levels.

There is a small but spacious parking lot and they accept EBT. Ambiance layout much like a 7-11 without hot food items. Chips, candy bars and lots of beer & liquor on display. Been coming here to MCBH Commissary for years ever since my AD days but didn't have Yelp back then…read more Perhaps it's fitting to say a few words.... This is still an enjoyable place to shop, although it has seen better days. Back 10 years ago, this small but well stocked commissary used the have the freshest and best local and organic produce on island. Not only did they beat out the other 3 major installation commissaries on Oahu but I also found their organic apples and other fresh produce beat Down to Earth's in freshness and quality all at a fraction of the cost. Then in 2012 a certain political ideology cut funding and commissaries worldwide were forced to pass on the added utility and infrastructure costs on to the customers. But this measure wasn't enough so the end result was further decline in quality and freshness as commissary managers were forced to find cheaper provision suppliers. But as the French say, that was then and this is now. This commissary has made some significant come backs since 2015 as the number of organic produce farmers has grown both locally and on the mainland, helping lower the wholesale costs. Still it doesn't rival its past days when you could buy farm fresh organic produce at farmers market prices. I still find terrific prices on organic eggs, produce, canned goods, and some seafood items, like the real deal Kauai shrimp (yes with the heads still on), and of course the standard type commissary specials from overseas (spaetzele, spargel, and rotkohl from Germany; escargot and St Andre' from France; etc.) They have a wonderful staff and it's always pleasant to come shop. One word of caution if you're used to shopping at the more casual Hickam or Pearl Harbor comms... Marines have a strict "Leave and Liberty" dress code so please don't roll in there in your beach or workout clothes. Actually I kinda like how it forces you to "get dressed up to go shopping " as it reminds me of days long past (yeah I heard that...never mind how long past). Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area and don't have the time to drive over to Schofield, Pearl, or Hickam. DoD ID card holders still require a vehicle pass obtainable at the visitor center (and good for two years). The prices are the same at the commissary as out in town, less sales tax. However, the dates nine times out of ten are bad and either outdated or about to be expired. Check everything. The produce and meats selection aren't the greatest either but sometimes you can find a decent selection. The commissary is also under construction and has been for a few months so finding things can be difficult. The signs do not match what foods are in the aisles and their poke counter in the back is no more.
