It's not very often that I am called to review a 7-Eleven. But this 7-Eleven has been my late night drunk food safe haven after several nights out in Boystown. Sure all the 7-Elevens might serve taquitos but this particular location has always had super hot and fresh taquitos available. Every single time I've gone. Other locations I've tried on weekend late nights either don't have many available, they're cold or they're a bit stale. My only complaint is they usually don't have ranch stocked (only blue cheese!). Yes, this is a very niche review but it needs to be said! Not worth the review because this place deserves everything that happens to it. I, the customer, come in Monday morning 7:35am.Employee (female) proceeds to make her own coffee at the machine and I'm forced to use the other side. I finish making mine but because she's making her own their was no assistance at the counter. I attempted to process at self check out with a minute of authorizing delay screen. I should have walked out with coffee to catch the 2 bus I missed because of her selfishness. But I stayed and it ended with an error. She finally returns to he counter, her coffee in hand, says she can ring me up, (what she should've done in the first place)only this time it can't process my points. A .80 coffee is now $2.59. Nope. Had she been at the counter like she was supposed to be I would've had my coffee been on my second bus. For principe I walked out. Totally ridiculous. I like this store a lot for quick things like pop, beer and snacks. But the reason I can't give 5 stars is because they never fill up the coffee machine dispenser (French Vanilla or Resces flavor). I was there on Sunday and again today and on both occasions, I found clear water coming out of the dispensers. Just ridiculous because there's obviously a demand. I will say the counter staff are helpful. If I buy an energy drink and it's on sale, they always have a coupon behind the desk and will scan to save me money. It is a clean place. Went there at 5:15am on a Saturday morning with my partner bc maps and their site said they are open 24/7. Door was locked but the guy working was in there and told us "one minute" then went to the back. I can understand being on the cautious side at the super early/late hours so we waited outside. He came back then said "15 minutes we open at 5:30am on Sundays". We let him know the website said 24/7 and he repeated 5:30 on Sundays, so we also tried to make it clear that it was definitely Saturday and not Sunday. He wasn't trying to hear anything and just kept repeating 5:30 on Sundays. We really wanted some snacks so decided to just wait and not even two minutes later a white man walked up and was immediately let in. I am black and my partner is Indian so we did take some offense, but tried not to think too much into it. We went in and the guy working was rude the entire time. We just left without buying anything but were completely baffled by the experience and were walking slowly back to his place (he lives nearby). The other customer who was let in before us came out and caught up to us and told us that the guy was consistently "a prick" but he goes there often before opening up his own business nearby. Either update your hours to reflect when you are open or honor the hours you have posted, not for some customers but for all customers. read more

One of the cashiers has such consistently bad BO and breath that at the end of his life if he donated his body to medical science. . . he probably would be found posthumously guilty of involuntary manslaughter when the medical students cut open his cadaver and choke to death. Luckily he doesn't work often. I have very strong senses, I come from a long line of criminal masterminds. I do like the convenience and flirting with the other cashiers and lurkers (who are charming). Nothing wrong with flexing your sex appeal, even in a C-Store. One guy, an obvious player, is ALWAYS there and looks exactly like Lance from Vice City. I sometimes wanna ask why he hangs out there so much and his name, but we usually just compliment each other and recognize our pimp hands are strong. I guess in my head, I can call him Lance-alot Dance-alot. Another guy usually around is the homeless grayhaired cat with myriad garbage bags blocking the doors. That'd normally bug me, but he regularly praises my appearance, so he gets a pass. He's diabetic so if you buy or give him food, as I do, make sure it is sugar free. The coffee's pretty gross. I frequent this 7-11 regularly for coffee after my workout. For the most part, it really is a nice store. The coffee is fresh and the supplies like sugar and cream are well stocked. That's the good part. The not so good part is they don't replenish the cappuccino machine dispensers regularly. Today I wanted a French Vanilla and they were completely out (pumpkin latte too). It could be I visit the store at the same time they run low but I doubt it. That said, it's a decent place for something quick in Boystown. I'm open to changing this review down the road. read more

For the most part this 7-11 would get a normal rating (probably 5 stars cause I usually don't have any problems here). The reason I give it 3 stars, is how the 7-11 store branded food items are handled. I know, usually 7-11 food is kinda shit anyway, but that's part of the charm right? Now where I loose that charm, is when I see the employees taking off their masks to grab a hotdog with a naked face, or when I see an employee without a mask blowing into a bag that their "house made" pastries go into. In the before-Covid times, this would normally be gross but potentially ignorable depending on your sobriety, but with an ongoing pandemic centering around a virus that spreads through droplets from the mouth, it's absolutely repulsive. Hot tip: Just don't get the 7-11 house packaged/made foods and you'll be golden. read more

There's maybe 2 ppl out of everyone that even tries to provide any. I didn't carry it with me because it was in the car with my boyfriend. I have never been carded for buying a lottery ticket. I told the cashier that. I asked him why was he carding me. Eep... when I walked in here I had to check my skin hadn't turn bright yellow and that I still had all five digits, because I was almost sure I had walked into the infamous Kwik-E-Mart. Ok, maybe this place wasn't as bad that, but there is still no excuse to have packaged deli meats that expired almost a month ago. The cashier also didn't have the forced-exuberance expected had he been a Kwik-E-Mart employee. Really, beyond candy bars, chips, and soda, there is no reason to visit this place. This is the after school snackin' pit-stop for my kids. Usually slurpees and something else unhealthy. Yesterday my 11 yr old decided to go with the $2.99 special: hot dog, chips and drink. Say wha? I haven't eaten a convenience store dog since the 80's when I underwent regularly "chemically induced" food cravings. So here is juniors review: The hot dog "was hot and it's juicy and tastes pretty good" (He ate the whole thing). The 7-11 brand bbq chips were "pretty good too". The new guy was working with RJ. No one was in the store. My friends ask if he could toast his sandwitch the one that ask to toast on the label. He said it was too busy. No one was in there. So the RJ stepped in and toasted because the other guy refused. RJ toasted it. Which is fine. I'm in there all weekend because of work. This is not fun I just asked him to do his job. But at my job I only get 30 minute lunch and this is right across the street from my job.. I go in and I go out. Yes the food is not good for you .. But theres a variety of choices.. their hotdogs rock.. you can put your own toppings.. you can get soup . yogurt.. whatever the case.. if you want somethin quick and to the point this 7 eleven is cool =) also the workers tehre are so friendly.. they already know me and so as soon as I come in they make me feel so welcomed.. This is a regular 7-11, except for Ashley. She is kind, welcoming and delightful. Every customer gets a smile. She is witty, professional and right on top of it. Every time I step in the store I am happy to see her. The best thing this franchise ever did was hire this lovely person. She makes the place sparkle. read more

Five or so years ago this place was run by wonderful Indian employees/owner. It was SPOTLESS and friendly. They knew everyone's name and the coffee was fresh. Currently the place is FILTHY, wouldn't touch that old coffee, and employees indifferent. Frankly an all male staff is never a good idea folks. read more

I never thought I'd feel so positive about a 7-11. The cashiers are always super nice here, they greet me when I pay and ask how I'm doing. They have fairly edible food in the fridge and freezer including more vegetarian items (salad! caprese sandwiches! yogurt! fresh fruit! ice cream?) than any convenience store I've found so far in Chicago. The coffee is decent and cheap. There's a redbox right outside so you can basically pull off a cheap dinner and a movie date at home right there. Weird? But awesome. read more
