The service itself is decent. I have ran into baristas sometimes that are more so apathetic, but I mean I guess how enthusiastic can you be about making coffee. A young lady followed, letting me know the cake wouldn't be ready for a while. I told her it was no problem; I had work to do. I opened my laptop and became so engrossed that I didn't hear my name called. Another lucky customer got that elusive coffee cake -- it vanishes the moment it hits the counter. Mario was the third person to check on me. He told me another batch was in the oven, but I was leaving soon. He apologized and offered any pastry on the house, particularly recommending the chocolate chip cookies he had baked himself. I accepted. When he set down the cookie, I asked if I could order an Americano. He returned with that as well, on the house. The cookie was huge, freshly baked, loaded with chocolate chips and just enough walnuts to stay out of the way of the gooey goodness. I broke off a piece -- soft, warm, the chocolate chips melting with every bite. You cannot have a better one. There was a steady stream of clientele representing the diversity of the neighborhood. The atmosphere is friendly, cheerful, and genuinely welcoming -- the neighborhood is enriched by it.
