But the best thing about Midtowne is the amazing selection for EVERYTHING. This is the place for a beer snob....they even sell Delerium! Not to mention the amazing support they show for the local market--they sell muffins, cookies and other baked goods made by local people, and always have a few CDs from local bands (which Harrisonburg has no lack of!). Also, there's usually a bulletin board up displaying events happening in the area like live music, farmers markets, yard sales and things of this nature. Midtowne Market is a great little convenience store in downtown Harrisonburg. It has the little…read morefood items you might need on a whim. They also carry pre-made lunch type food. More importantly, and the reason I am writing this review, is that Midtowne Market stocks an ever changing selection of unusual/hard to find beers. They stock Rouge Ales, Bell's Beer (a good brewery from Michigan), and many other brands that you will be hard pressed to find without a trip to Northern Virginia. Finally, note that their selection is ever changing, so on a positive note there will usually be something new to try, but on a negative note, you might find your new favorite beer only to have it disappear the next time you visit. It's not perfect, but it's a refreshing change from the usual beers sold at supermarkets elsewhere.

Stopped for gas. The pump wasn't taking my card, the only time on this trip that a pump didn't take…read moreit. So I went inside and no one was at the counter. I said in a fairly loud voice, "Hello!" Not to be rude but just to let employees know a customer was actually there. You'd think the station would want someone at the counter in case someone came in. After a few moments, I was about to knock on the counter when someone arrived from a back room and rudely told me to stop yelling in a louder voice than mine. I wasn't yelling, just trying to get someone's attention. I ignored the comment since I just wanted to get some gas and leave. I couldn't fill it up since you had to give a specific amount, so Shell and this station got less of my money than they could have.

We live right down the road so it's nice to be able to run and grab something and not have to go all the way to Walmart or 7-eleven. The owners are a very nice couple and are always very friendly.
