Sharp Shopper is a family reunion of an upscale actual Dollar Tree (not $1.25 Tree), Big Lots, Ollies and an Amish Market on clearance. The inventory varies, depending on what suppliers had too much inventory of. Some items might be close to the expiration date. Many of those items are in the chilled areas at the back of the store. Large creamer containers could be two or four/1.00. Bottles of juice could be 2/$1.00. Cottage cheese or yogurt can be as low as .10 or .25 each. There are lots of items that aren't expiring. They are inexpensive too. There is an entire aisle of cases of soda. I got 12 packs of Birch Beer (think root beer with a wintergreen flavor) soda for $7.99. The variety was unique. Soup flavors were limited and priced low. I bought the Grilled Cheese & Tomato flavor soup for 2/1.00. It tasted as advertised. There were several types of microwave soups, convenient for trips or lunches for 2/1.00. The baking area was varied and unique. There were at least 30 types of flour, including gluten. Salad dressing bottles were .50 for 8 oz and 1.99 for 16 oz. There were larger sizes too. There were unique baking flavors (eggnog) and lots of filling flavors for pies and pastries. A family of five seemed very excited about giant mayonnaise containers for $6.00. The chips and snacks were mostly inexpensive. The only section that didn't seem to have a discount were the Little Debbie's. Bottles of Gatorade were .89. Snack bag sized chips were 2/$1.00. The household row had toilet paper & other paper goods, plastic bags and containers. A 10 lb bag of ice was $1.99. The employees are friendly. The bathrooms are clean. read more

Sharp Shopper is a discount grocery store where you can find some great deals if you look and buy smart. Tips: 1.) Always check expiration dates. Sometimes the items will be close to expiring and you don't want to be forced to eat a year's supply of ____ in three weeks! 2.) Go often! They are always getting new stock. 3.) If you see something you like (and the exp dates are good) STOCK up! It won't be there when you come back. Okay, it might, but doubtful. 4.) Try new things. With prices low, you can afford to try things you may not otherwise try. 5.) Be careful of some items costing the same or more than a regular store. Cheers! read more

Always check the expiration dates on the refrigerated products like dairy, hummus, juice, meats, eggs. This is the place to go if you want to save money on your groceries. You have to shop smart. Go often since they stock up on new items. I mean they have to since most of the things expire the next day or the next week or already past expiration dates. You can buy bulk cereals, grains, pasta for a good price. The produce is not the best, but if you have good eyes for it, then select it. Once you come here once, you'll likely come back. My sister told me about SS and said I'd have to check the place out my next trip to the 'Burg. Today was the day. Stacks and stacks of close outs, overruns, failed launches (aka "dogs"), salvaged goods, and close coded stuff at ridiculously low prices in a huge amount of space. There's also a huge selection of bulk foods and candy in bags or clam shells priced very fairly. You'll see goods from Wegmans, SavALot, Teeter, WalMart, etc. There are loads of branded goods. Shopping is like a treasure hunt as I'm convinced the selection often varies. There are 7 locations scattered between Lancaster PA and the 'Burg. People who are sharp shoppers go to Sharp Shoppers. Customers from all walks of life go there! Another plus? They're closed Sunday's and at dusk Saturday's. Rest is important. So is faith. Recommend. read more

Sharp Shopper is a closeout grocery store which means that if it's out of season or about to expire, you'll find it here. Not to say that it's bad, it's totally awesome! Need to make brownies for a bake sale? You can get a mix for $1 at Sharp Shopper. Hosting a party and need chips? Sharp Shopper. Prepackaged snacks for a road trip or kid's lunches? Totally Sharp Shopper. You can't count on anything to be there for longer than a week or so, though. Sometimes it's there longer, but not often. Great discount grocery store... not a place to get everything you need, but they have tons of good deals on odd-ball items (things that didn't sell well in regular grocery stores, over-stock items, items passed their sell-by date, etc). We regularly visit here when in Harrisonburg. They also have a good selection of and great prices on spices and baking supplies. read more

Absolutely recommend going to this place on the regular. As a college student in town, this is the best place to stock up on groceries while on a very tight budget. They have a great variety of things, but it always varies. Similarly, always check the expiration date since a lot of things can be close to expiry, although this is less of an issue with frozen goods. The staff is wonderful here too! read more

i absolutely love sharp shopper. amazing deals and a variety of brands for cheap. best place to stock up on keurig kcups and granolas. most 12 pk kcups are up to $12 in walmart but generally around $4.99 here. if they have something you like dont be shy about buying alot of it. it will most likely not be there next time. great store all around! read more

If you can take the time to check expiration dates, this place can save you $$$$!! I frequent them for the always in stock Crystal Light Ice Tea mix. Boxes are .99 each, compared to 2.50-3.00 in big box stores!! Cheap dry cereals as well. Most items have a few months before expiration, but for what I need, the date doesn't worry me. read more
