As far as I'm concerned, this location is the best 7-11 in the nation. I work nearby and have been getting coffee here for 20 years and it's always good, and if you use enough of the sugar, cream and chocolate on offer you can't tell the difference from Starbucks IMO. But it's the people that really make it special, they are a diverse group of extremely friendly folks who deal with the late night drunken chaos like seasoned bartenders, the abuse hurled at them for not selling alcohol after midnight doesn't seem to embitter them towards students like it would me and the mess is quickly cleaned up. And what makes me go to the trouble to write this? It was unseasonably hot today, in the 90s, and when I told the woman at the register {Crystal? Krystal?} that we were without electricity in our building for the day, she quickly made me a little cooler out of a discarded box from the back and some ice, it was like being back at the little rural gas station near our house in Floyd 20 years ago, before a private equity group bought it. I've purchased from this 7-11 numerous times as an undergrad, so I figured I'd provide a review, especially since my most recent visit was a pleasant one. I came in on Sunday morning (11/16), after taking a brisk walk. We were leaving that afternoon, after the VT-Charlotte b'ball game, so I figured I'd stop in to pick up some drinks for the trip back. This establishment was clean and organized, while the cashier greeted me immediately upon walking in. I grabbed about 4 20 oz. bottles of soda, looked around (this place was neatly stocked with everything you'd expect a convenience store to have) to see if there was anything else we needed, then proceeded to the register. The cashier remained talkative and friendly while he rang up my items. I paid, we exchanged pleasantries a final time, then I walked out with my purchases. This is the sorriest excuse for a convenience store that's known to me. They have a parking nazi that LOVES to tow people's cars from the lot. His sole purpose in his pitiful existence in this life is standing in the store and watching for someone to park for a few minutes without going in his precious business. He has a speed dial with a local tow company and has your car towed within a few moments. This will cost you a 1.2 mile hike to get to and between $150-$180 depending on the time of day. This is a money racket and I'm sure he gets a kickback from the tow service. read more

The owner was incredibly rude and left his one employee without any help at the front counter, letting a line form inside. We stepped off the property for a few minutes after buying from the seven eleven and came back to having him threaten to tow my car. He was very aggressive for no reason. They weren't busy in their parking lot, so therefore he didn't need to be nearly as agitated as he was. read more

The place was clean and the staff friendly. I'm mainly reviewing so highly because it doesn't deserve a 1 star review, which someone left previously. All the slushy machine were working and I liked the new Cotton Candy flavor. read more

The manager here actually SCREAMS at his customers! A patron sought a money order and, despite patiently waiting for all other customers before making the request, was harassed and shouted at by the manager who protested he hadn't the time to process the request. Even though this is a 7-Eleven, there are basic courtesies all stores should extend their customers. Screaming at people is absolutely shameful. read more
