Best Smog experience ever! I barely had time to stop my car when there was someone at my window telling me to leave the motor running and come up to the front desk. They told me 20-25 minutes. I sat down in a shady gazebo (no kidding) read my email and in less than 10 minutes I saw my car pull up by the gazebo. I thought, Oh no they are driving it around to figure out the problem, but the guy got out of the car, gave me the thumbs up sign and I was done. I drive old Hondas and I don't think I have ever passed smog on the first try. Usually it doesn't pass, the smog guy tells me to get it checked out and come back for a free follow up. But of course it costs more $ to get it checked out and in my experience it doesn't always pass on the second try either. I was particularly scared this time bc I had a leaky gasket and my mechanic had told me when I have to replace the gasket I may as well replace the whole car. So if the gasket prevented my passing smog I would be screwed. Eric and Scott are magicians. Plus they are good dudes. If you need to have your car smogged, this is the place to go. The $20 off (if you mention you saw them on yelp) and free re-test are awesome and the place is clean, friendly and honest. Used the employee bathroom and I swear, it was cleaner than my bathroom at home, lol! This place lived up to its Yelp reputation. The guys were polite, fast, helpful, and gave me $20 off when I said I'd found them by Googling "smog test." They do, indeed, have water, tea/coffee, cheese cracker snacks, and a good stock of cold sodas. I sat in the little outside waiting area under an umbrella for barely 20 minutes (there was only one car ahead of me and it was already being tested when I arrived). they were also really helpful and knowledgable about paperwork for the DMV (take your receipt and hard copy of the smog test to AAA for immediate stickers if you've let it go to the last minute). Really good service experience at 7 Days a Week Smog test. Scott was super nice scheduling my appointment and then, I met Anthony. Once I arrived, Anthony did my paperwork and directed me to the '7 Days' waiting area where he advised me there were refreshments and free wifi. Fast, simple and kept to their words. I had an O2 sensor replaced on my car a week ago. My car passed the smog (15 min.), but fail on the engine. They told me to come back later after about 50 miles on the freeway to reset the computer. The process went smoothly without a hassle. Recommended. read more

I don't need a lot of amenities when I get a smog check. I just want to get my certificate and get out of there quickly, hopefully without feeling like I overpaid. (Ever notice how hard it is to compare prices on smog checks?) After reading all of the glowing reviews on Yelp, I figured I'd give this place a chance. I pulled a few minutes after 5:30 on a Saturday and the place looked deserted. I see 2 employees hanging out and ask where they want me to pull in. One walks up and says "we're not taking any cars now." I say "But I read you are open until 6." He says "we stop taking cars at 5:30." Now it's about 25 minutes before the time the place is supposed to close and these guys are clearly doing NOTHING. There are no other customers there and neither appears to be doing anything. (One of them actually got into his car and drove off as I was backing out.) I think I might have felt better about the situation if they were at least apologetic or nice about it, but they weren't. From the other reviews I get the sense that they try to emphasize customer service, but that was not my experience at all. read more

I went in with my '96 toyota camry. Poor thing is one the brink of death but can at least get me around town if need be. Scott and Steven were both awesome help! I kept it real and told them that, given my car's condition, that I did not want to pay almost 80 bucks if my car was more than likely going to fail. Scott offered me a no pass/no pay deal for $59.99. My car failed the first time so Scott reset the car's computer, I believe, and said I should drive the car on the freeway for just an exit or so to put some miles on the car before testing it. Came here on a Sunday when all other SMOG stations are closed. Quick and professional service. They have free refreshments if that's your thing and they even answer my car questions that were unrelated to my smog. Very friendly, knowledgeable and super quick. Three days later, and I'm still upset with this place. Due to the ineptitude of one of their technicians, I will have to go back to the DMV to get my tags and plates. I came in to 7 Days A Week last Sunday, and the technician could not "read my VIN number" therefore couldn't give me a smog check. I just bought this car from a private party and in CA one has to have a smog check to register a vehicle. I was trying to make sure all my ducks were in a row for my DMV appointment on the following Monday, but now lacked the smog check. I told the DMV worker that the technician couldn't "read my VIN number" and thus couldn't give me a smog check and she laughed! She said exactly, "You need to go someplace else, because I can't give you your plates or tags without the smog check." Thanks 7 Days A Week, because now I will have to wait in line at the DMV to get my plates and tags. read more

I've been to several smog businesses before, and this one is top notch. The shop is clean, and the staff is extremely courteous and professional. The prices are fair and reasonable (this was the lowest price I've ever paid at a smog station). The smog shop has two waiting areas -- an indoor seating / coffee bar area and an outdoor cabana / pergola area. Both waiting areas are clean, attractive and comfortable. With that said, my service was so rapid that I didn't have to wait at all. This location is also close to many popular Berkeley shops and restaurants (i.e., 4th street shops, metro lighting, omega salvage, outlets, etc.). You'll be able to easily run errands, should you wish to accomplish other goals on the same trip. This is a quality business with an excellent location! I highly recommend it!!! read more

I bought a Groupon and this business would not honor it. The guy said that I had a "star vehicle" and they quit honoring Groupons for Star vehicles and that it was on the website. So I got back in my car and left. This info is NOT on the groupon site, not in the fine print, and I have not found it thus far in the company website. This is an unethical business practice.
