Failed smog test had to replace part. Went back for smog, would not pass without drive cycle procedures. Completed drive cycle procedures then went back to complete and arrived at 5:48PM for the third time right after work as they were closing doors. Even though they closed at 6 he would not complete my smog since he said I had to be there by 5:45. He did not really care to hear what I had to say, did not care about me as a customer, only that he was anxious to leave 10 minutes before the published closing time. I'll come back to complete my smog since I already paid, but you can bet I will not refer this company or ever come back again. read more

Called up and mentioned the $20 off coupon. Was told that the regular price was $79 and that they would charge me $59, and that's always been their price, for years. I found several other places nearby that quoted me $28 (out the door price, including online coupon). $59, seriously? Just got my car smogged elsewhere for $28, and it took under 20 minutes. read more

I like these guys (and not just because my car passed haha). I've been going here for a few years and they are always nice, professional and fast. They are more expensive than the place around the corner but you get the free retest in case your car fails, and that alone makes it worth it to me. I panicked on a Sunday morning at 8 AM realizing the DMV needed my smog test done by Tuesday. I found this yelp page searching for Berkeley Sunday Smog Test. Called at 8:30, was assured I could come in right away, was there at 9, and out by 9:15. The technician was friendly, courteous, and respectful. The waiting room was warm and stocked with goodies. I appreciated the Yelp discount. But, most, I was impressed that I could get this taken care of on a Sunday, before 10 AM, on the same day that I panicked about it. read more

Fast, friendly, convenient and open on Sunday. Made no appointment, I just showed up and they were happy to accommodate.

I went around 5 pm, and it only took about 30 mins (there were 2 cars in front of me). They had 2 nice waiting areas, one inside, one outside. The lady who helped me was incredibly nice and helpful. She did the check, explained everything and what I needed to do to finish up the registration, and answered any questions I had. With the $20 off coupon, it ran ~$60. read more

I called Steve about getting my car smogged in time to pay my registration. He was very professional and helpful on the phone and told me that at the time I hoped to schedule my car it would take about 15 minutes. When I arrived, the written service quote matched the estimate he gave me by phone. Steve was personable and I had the option to wait in either a clean well-lit indoor space with snacks, reading material, or an equally welcoming outdoor space with comfy chairs and an umbrella for shade. There was free wi-fi and a computer for my use. Steve smogged my car within 15 minutes as promised and my car passed the test. I really appreciated that if for some reason, my car had failed the test, Steve offered a discount to retest the vehicle until it passed. The final payment reflected the phone and the written estimated quote. Steve and his colleague were extremely quick, professional, and neat. OK I got the dreaded DMV "Star" smog check. I read on Yelp that this place was good. I wasn't so sure, but was willing to give them a try. I drove up and saw one car being worked on, The boss came up to me and asked me if I was looking to get a smog. I said yes and he said park it right there and we will get right on it. He did the paper work and to my amazement it failed, he asked if I had the battery disconnected and I said yes. He told me to drive it around for about 50 miles and and bring it back. He told me he believes it should pass. I did and and he took me right away. I passed (thank god) and i was on my way. I can now tell everyone I trust this place. I have my truck due in march, you should know i will be back. read more

I went into 7 days about a month ago when the previous manager, Scott worked there and he was not the most helpful to me when my car didn't pass smog. Scott made me feel rushed and didn't even explain anything to me along with charging me the full $75.00. It was a stressful situation since my car has had issues and I really just wanted to find a helping hand. After correcting the issues I went back for my retest (really not excited to deal with Scott again) and was blessed to have the right person finally come around to help me out, Antoine. He is the new manager of 7 days and very happy that I was able to have him help me out at the end of the process. I came in multiple times to see if my sensors were ready and finally I went for the retest and PASSED! Antoine really understands customer service and really wants the best for you and your car. Just went here. Called a few weeks ago and was told my old (older than 1999) car would cost $94 to smog. That sucked ass. But Antoine said he'd give me $30 off if I mention it when I came in. I called today to see if that $30 off would still be good. Got Antoine again and he confirmed. Brought my car in around 2:15. Bad timing as there was someone else arriving right before me. One guy working (Anthony). But he honored Antoine's $30 off. I was worried about how long it would take and told because Antoine on lunch, might be 35-40 mins. Oh well. I was there maybe 15 mins or so, eating free cheese crackers and mystery Dum Dum pops (did you know Dum dums has bacon flavor?!) when Antoine returned and immediately got my car on the machine. I was out of there in probably 30 mins. Maybe even a bit less. Guys were super nice, efficient and fast. No B.S. And they have a punching bag and weights. I don't know if they'd have let me use them, but I bet they would've. And I would've had I not just showered. I would definitely go back here. Oh, and Antoine is really cute. Excellent Service! I was in and out in literally 5 minutes --I had just gotten myself comfortable in the comfortable patio furniture with magazines available. (I went Wed @ lunch hour) Earlier, I had paid my reg fee to the DMV online and he told me everything was all set, and the sticker would arrive from DMV in a week or so (it did). As it wouldn't arrive until after the first of the month, he told me what papers to show the police if they stopped me for what would appear to be expired sticker. (I had completely overlooked that a smog was required to renew) Also helpfully let me know that in future, that one can go immediately from smog station to AAA to pick up registration and sticker and pay reg fee, just as long as didn't already pay reg fee online to DMV. I mentioned Yelp as I pulled in and got the $20 discount no problem. read more

This place is incredible. They win my "Best Customer Service EVER" award. Seriously, it made my day. That sounds dumb but when you live in the Bay Area (or any major urban area, I bet) you get used to such things being a huge pain in the ass, and to being treated like shit in the process. Nay, I rolled up, they greeted me with a smile, told me I was welcome to use their internet and have some coffee or a soda while they looked at my car. But I barely had a chance to do anything because within 10 minutes they'd already finished! They told me to take my time, and then--the real W T F moment--they came inside to where I was to finish up with the bill--because there was a really stinky car outside that they didn't want me to have to smell. Seriously folks, what the hell? That is some amazing customer service. Plus, they're the only Test-Only place I could find in the Bay Area that's open on a Sunday--a boon to 9-5 procrastinators like myself who realize their registration is due on Monday and it's already Sunday.
