Never been so happy to get my smog checked. I was honestly apprehensive about smog checks in general; you pay money for them to tell you to spend more money, and you have to find somewhere to go while you wait. The people at 7 Days A Week Smog are awesome. My appointment was for 4pm but it was rainy and the 580 to Berkeley was (typically) slow. I called to say I would be late and they told me "no worries, just take your time and drive safe". Wow...I don't know when I last heard something so nice from a business. I got there and they warmly greeted me and led me to the waiting room, which has internet, magazines, snacks and drinks. They told me it would only take 20 minutes, which I really appreciate; I hate not knowing how long I'll be there. Sure enough, 20 minutes later they returned with a copy of my results (I passed), faxed them to the DMV, and wished me a nice day. Caring, quick, professional. Came here for smog check during lunch hours and I was in and out within 45 minutes (could had been 30 minutes if I was one car ahead :p). The waiting room inside is the neatest of all that I had encountered from any auto service shops. They also provide complimentary snacks, drinks, and WiFi which make the wait more bearable. I drove all over looking to get my 92 previa van smoged yesterday and it was a hassle. The lowest quote I got was $129!!! I just found this place and came based on their positive yelp reviews. They quoted me $94 and I got a $20 discount. They were fast and very friendly, the waiting area was clean and had snacks and wifi and there was even an outdoor deck area with nice plants to wait in the sun. Found a coupon online and decided to give it a shot. 2 things really stuck out to me. 1. The waiting room was very nice. Free drinks, snacks, and wi-fi. Also, it was super clean. There is also an outdoor patio if you care to wait outside. Sure, it's not strictly required of a smog test place, but having a well maintained area to wait is definitely a plus. 2. The price was very fair. I had another car tested about a month ago and paid nearly twice what I paid here, even with $30 off. So many places offer cheap tests for 2000 and newer vehicles but they jack up the prices for those of us driving 95s and older models. Granted, they require more stringent tests, but paying around $80 for just the test seems high. I paid 49 and definitely felt like I got a deal. Even better, they take credit cards, so I don't have to go to the bank to grab extra cash. Scott was very friendly and definitely took care of me. The first trip had a bit of a wait, but I'm pretty sure it was a weekend afternoon. Showed up with no appointment and got taken care of RIGHT AWAY .... I was in and out in less then 45 min. Friendly, fast and explained everything to me. As soon as I pulled in the drive way they greeted me. This is how a GOOD business SHOULD be run. Comfortable waiting area. Computers, snacks, tons of drinks and all the magazines while you wait.. Don't too comfortable.. you won't be there long.. :) I will be back and I will tell all my friends about it. I read somewhere that they will even come pick your car up smog it and return it to you... for no extra charge. I assume that you have to be somewhat close to the shop.. this is very good to know. I've been going to 7 Days a Week Smog Test for the past 6 years and like many fellow Yelpers have said, they are fast, efficient and have great customer service. They have a cozy reception room with snacks, computer with internet, hot tea and coffee (ok, the coffee is terrible), outdoor seating with nicely landscaped potted plants and a weight room and punching bag, in case you want to workout while your vehicle gets smogged. But to top it off, they even have treats for their dog customers. As for price, you receive $20 off when you are a repeat customer or mention Yelp. With the discount the cost is about $60. If it is possible to say that getting smog test was a fun and pleasant experience, you may not believe me, but, it is really true. The thing that really impressed me was the very clean and comfortable guest waiting area. it is sparkling clean, with comfortable seating, hot and cold drinks, all kinds of snacks, and there is even water for your dog and dog treats. There is also an outdoor waiting area that is as lovely as any resort, in case you want to sit in the sun while your car is tested. On rainy days, the indoor area is clean and cozy, annd there is even a computer for your use.
