What a great experience, Remi is a awesome person behind the bar and a excellent person to chat with. They have a full service bar with 4 beers on tab as well as cocktails, food, and bottle beers.

View from the interior. Each table has its own set of overhead lights which can be turned off when not in use.

Great place to relax with some friends, get a drink, and maybe some snack or apps to eat, and shoot some pool. I just found out about this spot, finally a billiards place in MoCo! Very spacious, nice tables, and a small bar? Pretty much everything you'd look for in a billiards hall. The staff here are very friendly which is always a plus. Not many people at 9pm on a Tuesday, but I imagine weekends would be quite busy. Billiards is charged by the hour; $7/hour/person. The tables are spaced apart enough that there is conversational privacy. Each table has it's own set of overhead lights which can be turned off when not in use. There are food and drink specials available. My friend ordered a Jack and Coke off the specials menu and was served a full glass of the drink...now granted it'll be more Coke than Jack, but still a pretty wonderful deal. My only gripe would be the lack of posted information about hours and prices. Other than that I think 7 Billiards is a welcome addition to the Rockville area and I know I'll be back again.

Looking for an afternoon or evening of fun - in a clean and reasonably priced place with good "Happy Hour" style food and drink options? Then head on over to 7 Billiards Shady Grove - and get ready to laugh and toast to life while playing pool, listening to great music, and keeping an eye on sports and news on the many TVs around the venue. Plenty of pool tables (pay by the hour). Small but all-you-really-need food menu with fair prices (the spring rolls were especially amazing - light and not oily at all, with great peppery sauce). Full bar with quite the variety of beer, wine, and spirit options. Totally wheelchair accessible - the space and the bathrooms. And the management is amazing - accommodating and friendly and helpful. Shout out to Giorgio. I had a total blast just celebrating life over a game of pool with a friend to kick off the weekend -- (very poorly played game, but wow, incredibly fun time!). Already looking forward to the next visit...

It's hard to write a review on this location. It's newly opened, and still in the process of opening, if that makes any sense. I did enjoy myself, so I'm giving it high props. I can't tell you how excited I was to hear there was a new billiards place opening in Montgomery County. I usually have to make my way down to Buffalo Billiards in D.C. or find a bar that happens to have a couple pool tables. To start, this place was impossible to find (chalking it up to not being fully opened yet). There's no signage yet. Literally none. No window signs or banners or anything. It's also in the back of the shopping center so there's nothing that points you in that direction. Google Maps will not take you straight to the front door. (IT'S NEXT DOOR TO iROCK AND THE STORAGE LOCATION) Once we got there, we walked in and everything was covered and we were told they don't open til 4. Also something you don't see posted anywhere. We came back at 5. Grabbed a table and some drinks. And.... it was great. I can't say too many bad things about my experience while I was actually there and playing pool. The service was great. The entire team was very friendly. Drinks were great and a great price. They have a solid menu. The pool tables are top quality. Everything is still new so it all looks fantastic. It is a pure pool hall, and that's what I really wanted. I gave this place 4 stars knowing their potential. All the stuff about signage and hours is all things I chalked up to be open earlier than needed. Expecting great things from this location!

Unfortunately, he took the overall win, but I did beat his score in one round by a landslide, so I'm counting that as a small victory. There were five of us, and we grabbed a quick bite while we played. Both my competitor and I ordered the Parmesan Garlic Chicken Caesar Salad, and I have to say--the chicken was outstanding. Crispy, well-seasoned, and easily some of the best I've had. Definitely not what I expected, but I'd order it again without hesitation. We also went with the Eat & Play Combo, which includes a $10 play card (40 chips) and one of six food options. The website initially made it seem like a flat $20 deal, which felt a bit misleading, but upon rereading, it does say "starting at $20." Overall, we had a great time, and I'd definitely come back to this location!

I also reviewed a location that used to be in Clarendon, Arlington, VA in September 2012, which was a 3-star. Today, there are 4 locations: 3 in VA (the original in Alexandria I've been to) & 2 I haven't as well as the only location in MD, which I have been to their Rockville location on Sunday, October 26, 2025. My girlfriend's parents love Hard Times Cafe. They used to go to the one in College Park, but it closed so they occasionally will drive much further for them to Rockville. My g/f & I were in Gaithersburg that afternoon, and her parents mentioned inviting us to dinner at Hard Times, which we agreed. It had been a while since I had been there and got samplings of the various chili. I thought I liked their signature Cincinnati chili the best, but I think I realized I liked the Texas even more. Terlingua chili was great too. I got a beer, which was good too. Service was friendly & prompt. I got a chili dog with Texas chili & fries, which were great. We also split chili nachos, which were good too. Hard Times Cafe isn't necessarily a place I'll go out of my way for, but it's a place I enjoy when it works out.

My go-to since my first visit in 1985(!!!) has been their Terlingua Red. It's a little spicier than their Texas Chili, not as sweet as their Cincinnati Chili. I always get it with jalapeños and onions, and get a serving of beans on the side. (Not in the chili. My momma raised me right). Served with a soft and sweet piece of cornbread it's a tasty, quick, and inexpensive meal. Hard Times opened - and closed - a shop in my hometown a few years back, and I don't get down the road as often as I used to. Today's meal gives me incentive to make the trip more often in the future.

I've lived in the city for years and seen various similar restaurants in Chinatown come and go -- like Fuddruckers, Green Turtle, and Ruby Tuesday. And while they may have similar menu items, the food was good. We stopped by on a Saturday early-evening and were seated immediately which I didn't expect. There is 2 floors of seating in what looks like a seemingly small location. While I was there, I saw them quickly accommodate 2 huge buses of tourist with burger dinners and drinks quickly while also still serving regular patrons. As for food, I can say that everything my party ordered was a hit: chicken tenders and fries for kids, cheeseburger, salmon dinner, and pizza! They also had a really cute kids menu ice cream to end the day for my little one. Highly recommend for a sit down meal, decently priced, family friendly, and solid food.

I have been coming to Yard house for years and always recommended this place, because of customer service, great food and just a great place. This was not the case this afternoon. I decided to take my mom out for her birthday lunch and I thought what better place than "The Yard House". I have never been so disappointed in an establishment until today. Not only was her birthday lunch ruined BUT - TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT. it was not busy this afternoon (being that it was a holiday and all) and I thought once again that it will be a great birthday. We had ordered MEDITERRANEAN SALMON dish and I got the orange chicken. When the Salmon came out, it was just a piece of fish??!! no warm cauliflower rice & red quinoa tabbouleh, kale, baby tomatoes, spicy tahini sauce. INSTEAD....got the piece of fish a heated-up rice cake piece which we DID NOT ORDER.... what the actual hell.....people... when I talked to server (BTW- he was nice but he could not explain the stupidity of the kitchen staff), he was like there was some confusion in the kitchen, that is no excuse....so hire or train the kitchen staff to get the order right... manager came over and she could not explain what had happened...mom's plate got cold and I lost my appetite. i could not wait to pay and leave... Manager covered 30 bucks for the lunch that was ruined, but it's not good enough...i only share this because i don't want another family having their special day outgoing be ruined by incompetence of the kitchen staff... thanks for the rice cake....and ruining my mom's birthday LUNCH...YOU WON'T SEE ME A WHILE...AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR EATING to no one!!NOW WAY-----... The atmosphere was fun, the drinks were good, and everything was going well until the last few minutes before closing. Around 1:55 AM, security came into our karaoke room and informed us that the venue was closing. One member of our group politely explained that we were in the middle of our final song and asked if we could have the remaining few minutes to finish it, since they officially close at 2. Security agreed and told us they would return in five minutes. We thanked them and immediately began wrapping things up. Unfortunately, only a minute or two later, a staff member entered the room, told us we needed to "get the f#ck out," and began shutting down the karaoke equipment while we were still finishing the song. When someone in our group respectfully commented that we didn't have to speak like that to us, the response was essentially, "I don't give a f#ck, I want to go home." As we were leaving, we also heard another staff member shouting at customers to get out, including comments such as "Goodbye, adios, whatever f#cking language you speak." Whether intended as a joke or not, it came across as unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile. To be clear, we completely understand that businesses have closing times and that employees want to go home at the end of a long shift. We were already preparing to leave and had no issue with the venue closing. The problem wasn't being asked to leave...it was the way it was handled. What had been a genuinely enjoyable night ended on a very negative note because of the attitude and language directed toward customers. It's disappointing because we had a great time otherwise and have enjoyed visiting in the past. Hopefully management addresses this, because a little professionalism and courtesy in those final few minutes would have left us looking forward to returning instead of reconsidering whether we will.

I have been here twice since moving to the area in May, and both previous visits were great. I…read morethought this was a cute, friendly establishment and had no complaints. Unfortunately, this visit completely changed my impression. I was finishing my beer when a manager--or someone who appeared to be one--asked if I wanted a menu. I said, "No, thank you. I'm just finishing this one beer and then I'll be on my way." She then informed me that if I wanted to remain seated outside, I would have to pay an additional $2 per beer to sit there. There was literally no one else using the outdoor seating. I was understandably surprised and asked, "Excuse me?" I was told that the charge was listed on the menu. That's not good communication. If you are going to charge customers an additional $2 simply for sitting in an otherwise empty outdoor seating area, that policy should be CLEARLY posted where customers can see it before they purchase their drink--not hidden somewhere on a menu that they haven't even been given or aren't looking at because they aren't ordering food. Then came the bill. The server literally dropped the book on the table. I looked at it and asked, "Did you just charge me for that?" She said yes. The attitude and manner in which the entire situation was handled were unnecessarily rude. And here's the thing: I've worked in Food & Beverage for 45 years. I have never experienced a policy communicated this poorly or a customer interaction handled this way. I couldn't help but wonder whether everyone sitting inside playing trivia was also being charged an additional $2 for every drink they purchased. If this is actually a policy, management needs to rethink both the policy and the way it is communicated. If it's intended to compensate servers for having customers occupy tables, there are far more professional ways to address that than surprising customers with an additional charge after they've already purchased their drink. I would have gladly finished my beer and left without an issue. Instead, I left feeling like I was being nickel-and-dimed and treated as though I had done something wrong simply by sitting outside and finishing a drink I had already purchased. That's especially disappointing because my first two experiences here were so positive. A $2 charge isn't what ruined this experience. The lack of transparency and the attitude did.
