We were visiting from Santa Barbara, California to check out the Tennessee vibe. After reading restaurant reviews and seeing the menu, we went to 620 State Street. We had the most delicious filet mignon steak, done to perfection, medium rare. Our waiter Garrett was amazing. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, helpful, and he made our dinner even more special with his personality. On one of our later visits (where he was not our waiter) we found out he was fluent in German, and was knowledgeable about European languages (I am from Europe initially). Even though we were not at one of his tables, he made it a point to come say hi. Later on, we had dark haired Jessica, who was super knowledgeable about wines, let us taste some reds they had in the restaurant, and who was very personable as well. The grilled salmon I ordered was done to perfection as well (medium rare) and we were told it was sushi grade. Because of the recommendation of Garrett, we also tried the sushi. We have never ordered sushi in a steak restaurant before, but true to Garrett's word, it was delicious as well. Ambiance is cozy, with soft lights, wooden booths. Only thing I could ask is for a better Pinot Noir selection. Meiomi is not good and the other one they had was not drinkable. They were out of La Crema and said they would not get it back. La Crema, though not my favorite either, would be a world better than what they have at their bar. Don't hesitate to go to 620 State. Went here last night for date night. Started off on such a high note. Very impressed with the Bourbon Peach Mule and husband had the 620 Margarita. Firecracker shrimp appetizer was delicious and very mild on the spice. Big Orang Roll is a must. Incredible. Husband hates seaweed so he enjoyed the soy paper alternative. Entrees were very disappointing. We're not sure what happened there. Wellington is one of my favorite dishes and the deconstructed meatloaf Wellington was interesting. Meatloaf had a decent flavor but it was served with just a slice of puff pastry. Very odd. Husband's Downtown chicken was severely lacking in flavor and his Parmesan garlic fries were so soggy we almost sent them back. His favorite part was the almost ketchup like sauce that came with his chicken. We would definitely return here but strictly as a drinks-apps-sushi place. Our waiter was beyond incredible though. Very, very prompt service and was helpful in our sushi order. Drinks never ran dry and dishes never stacked up. Overall again we would 10/10 go back, we just won't order entrees. read more

This restaurant was a great find for two weary, hungry travelers. Although there was short wait on a busy Sat. Night, we found seats at the bar. Lucky for us. Our server and bartender was friendly and helpful. As a bonus, we were able to watch her make all kinds of creative cocktails. My wife enjoyed the salmon while I had a stir fry. Both were great. Waitress was great. She was nice and made sure we had drinks. They also answered any questions we had. The restaurant was hot. The food we ordered was a mushroom and Swiss burger and the 620 burger. For the sides we got sweet potato fries and the garlic Parmesan fries. The burgers were good, but were not cooked to the "medium" we requested. The sweet potato fries were actually cold and had a cinnamon sugar coating that made them wayyyyy to sweet. The garlic Parmesan fries tasted like they had been driven home in a paper bag and then been let to sit out for an hour before being served. They were absolutely awful. I really think we caught this place at a terrible time... I cannot think of a single worst experience at a restaurant. Our waitress was extremely rude and apathetic. We sat for nearly 10 minutes before she came to the table. We had to ask for water multiple times and it was all down hill from there. The table of 8 people ordered 4 appetizers.... only 2 of the correct things came out and the waitress argued that we didn't order certain things. Across the table there were 2 beers and 4 cocktails ordered. The first round of drinks took nearly 30 minutes to come out. The drinks were good, I personally had a smoked old fashion that I have no complaints about. About an hour after we ordered food things started to come out of the kitchen slowly... literally EVERYTHING that came out was either COLD or completely wrong. The waitress once again had an attitude about the situation. Eventually the manager came out and brought two plates of warm waffle fries to "make things right". We asked to have our checks so that we could leave... that took another 20 minutes of our afternoon....this was terrible. I'm confident this can't be the norm and absolutely hate that we drew the short end of the stick. I was very disappointed with the service and the food. Our waitress seemed annoyed and uninterested on providing the minimal customer service expected. She barely talk and never smile. We overheard her complaining about the customers sitting outside because it was "too damn hot". Anyway, we decided to ignore her and I think she perceived her behavior was noted but did not change her beat. The food was very unimpressive, barely no taste for an over cooked blackened fish in a bed of undercook brown rice. Early Valentine's date night! 2-12-2024. This was our second visit after a lot of thinking if we should do it again. Wasn't impressed the first time and we were hoping it was an off day... the best part of our meal were the Crab Rangoons. They could possible be the best I've had. Good job! Unfortunately the rest of our meal was lacking flavor. We each got a sushi roll and they were okay but not anything to bring us back for... I had the Generals Tso Chicken which could be the most flavorless generals I've ever had. It's always my go to and hardly am I disappointed until 620. My honey had the Schezhuan steak which he was not impressed by. The cost of our meal was reasonable if it had been really really good. I was hoping to bring home leftovers but, it wasn't good enough to even bring home... Although this restaurant presents a blended menu from their other offerings (Stir Fry Cafe, among them) my experience has been that this location does none of the cuisines as well as the places that focus on burgers, sushi, etc.. Our party got 6 different sushi rolls, several of which we've gotten at their other establishments, the versions at 620 were different and not good. Their rolls seem to rely on the sauces for most of the flavor and that is NOT a sign of good sushi. As with the other restaurants owned by this group, their choice to feature mainly Great Oaks beers on tap is another reason to go elsewhere. read more

Typical bar/pub setting and menu, nothing overwhelming practically underwhelming to say the least. I was starving and road over to this area to get pizza from a local amazing pizza restaurant only to discover that the place is closed on Mondays. I was so bummed after having not eaten since breakfast and was in meetings for 8 hours straight and only having tea and water all day. I road around to find food that was on the line of pizza and sauce. I saw that 620 had quesadillas so I decided to stop by and upon entry you will immediately notice that the space is open and the booths line the walls with a dance floor like space in the middle with the bar toward the end. The service wasn't the best as the person who came over was very short and unenthused about me being there alone. I noticed that I was the only table for one so they may have assumed that I was waiting for someone to join me. My food came out quick, it just wasn't as flavorful as I was desiring but it did do the job of fulfilling my hunger. read more

Didn't come out the right temperature at first, way off, them brought one way overdone. I think the restaurant itself is pretty good. Nice atmosphere and pleasing decor. It was my first time eating here; My friends and I came for the half-price sushi they serve every Tuesday. I enjoy sushi, but recently I've been trying to lower my carb intake, and seeing as how their sashimi was not included in their half-price offer, I asked the waitress if I could have the sushi, but without the rice. She curtly informed me that any modifications to the sushi changes it to full price. I thought it odd that my 'modification', which allowed them to use fewer resources (said resource making up half the recipe), would require me to pay double. So, I received half the meal for double the price, which I feel most would agree is unreasonable. And it definately didn't help that the waitress was fairly unpleasant throughout the whole ordeal. If I were to be generous with this review, I'm sure under different circumstances, the taste of the sushi would be more or less worth the price (when actually half off), but after this experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I had a few potstickers which were also very good; crunchy with flavorful pork. My mom tried the fried rice which she said was good, exclaiming that she really liked the egg.
