The nail salon I normally go to was to busy, so after googling a place nearby I came across this one. I didn't realize until later that they're by appointment only (oops) but they were nice enough to do my pedicure for me and didn't give me a hard time. As far as aesthetics go, this place is a 10/10. It's beautiful, very tastefully decorated, and SPARKLING clean. It also smells amazing in there and I appreciate the fact that it doesn't just smell of nail polish. The overall pedicure, though was just "meh". A little lackluster. I did enjoy the products they use very much. I love Zoya nail polish and the quality of the scrubs and lotions they use is definitely top notch. But as far as the overall experience goes, I think they were just doing the bare minimum. If they made a little more effort it would have been a fantastic pedicure. Past salons that I've been to have given a back/ shoulder massage while your nails dry. This place did not which was slightly disappointing. It had been a while, and I decided to treat myself to a manicure and sugar scrub. After searching for a vegan salon, I happened upon 5th Avenue. Parking and the entrance is through the back, and it can be tight during the busy times. The salon is brightly lit, clean, inviting and the people are friendly. My manicurist was efficient and helped me pick out a nice color (they use Zoya for non gel polish) that complimented my skin tone well. They are good at following COVID guidelines and have a sink readily available for you to wash your hands as soon as you enter the salon. They did remove the tools from a sanitized bag, and my manicure/massage was fine. The only other caveats I would add are that my polish was removed by the manicurist by her nail instead of a tool, they didn't read the notes I had left when booking so I had to explain it again when I got there, which prolonged the service, and the service was interrupted before the polish was applied so I could pay. If I return, I will just prepay because it was a bit jarring for me. read more

I highly recommend this place! I'm new to the area and this has been the CLEANEST salon I've EVER been to! They do amazing work and I'm happy they offer vegan and non toxic options at their salon. You really can't find that anywhere these days. It smells so good in there (no harsh chemical smell) and they really take there time and give you 100% quality nails. I also love that they don't offer acrylic nails like every other nail salon and they have a better option for your nails called UV sculpted Gel which is what I got. This is one of the cleanest nail salons I've ever been to ... and best decorated too! When you walk in, you're immediately greeted with this lovely citrus scent as well as one of the employees who will check your temperature and ask you to wash your hands. I've been for both manicures and pedicures. They are efficient but also seem to be perfectionists when it comes to application of nail polish. When I had gel done, it was always applied evenly - never too thin or too thick. When I had the gel removed, they're super gentle. They don't use the dreaded drill. Tips: if you download the Booksy app, you can book ahead. They are by appointment only. I went to this shop BECAUSE the reviews were excellent. I showed up for my appointment excited to have a spa day for myself and possibly get some Halloween designs. I walked in and a lady said in a non welcoming way; "Wash your hands. Sit here. What color you want?"When I said I wanted a Halloween design, she said "what do you want?" I started coming here after my ex roommate recommend it because she loved their organic sugar scrubs. I love that it's an organic and natural nail salon. The workers here are very friendly and they even do nail art! It is a little pricy for a manicure but they do a great job and give you a hot stone massage and a neck massage. They have a rewards program that you can buy into (I think $5) which allows for birthday coupons and rewards for every $200 spent. Manicures last about a week (no gel) which isn't as long as other polishes but thats probably because they're not filled with toxins. I am happy to report that 5th Ave Nails & Spa is still the best nail salon in the Avon/Simsbury area. Just stopped in today after a long hiatus and calling practically last minute (sorry, guys!) for a regular pedicure that turned into a gel pedicure on the spot, per my request. I was treated like royalty, just like every time before, and was offered a delicious complimentary hot tea to enjoy with my service. They still use wonderful organic products that make your skin feel luxurious and the customer service is just as awesome as I remember. My mother and I had gone here for the first time on Saturday. I made us appointments for 4pm for the organic spa mani and pedi. Upon entering there was no space to sit to wait, but we were greeted with a welcome and seated in the pedi chairs quickly! Our first impression was positive. Easy parking, the salon was clean and relaxing. The tools they used were clean and the technicians were friendly. The nail polish options were enough, with a range of colors. We loved that everything was either vegan, made from scratch or earth-friendly. All the lotions and oils had a very pretty and clean smell to them. For two organic spa mani and pedis cost just over $200 (without tip). We were there for 2 hrs. Sadly, the day after our appointment our nail polish has started to chip and does look a bit streaky (which we noticed the day we had our nails done). And just this week I went for a mani pedi and within an hour of leaving I chipped a nail pretty bad completely my fault. Isn't that the point of a pedicure? I got some scrub on my legs but she barely rubbed that in either. I can get a pedicure with a 5 min foot and 5 min back massage for 18$ I'll pay extra for organic but not if I don't get a foot massage? This is gonna be a LONG review!! Just a heads up! I went to 5th Ave at the recommendation of a friend two days ago for a mani-pedi. I didn't have an appointment, but they gladly accommodated me anyway. Oh. My. Goodness. The place didn't smell of acetone. They were diffusing something delicious - Lemon? And I settled down into an oh so comfy chair, into a foot bath that was the perfect temperature, with (I think) rose petals in the water. It was the best pedicure I've ever had, and it's true- everything they use is organic, vegan, and cruelty free. And yes, some of the scrubs are made from scratch! After the pedi, the woman led me to get my manicure, which was good. Nothing spectacular, but my nails looked classy, so I was pleased...until I got in the car to leave. After I got my keys and buckled in, TWO of my nails had already smudged. I would have just gone back in, but I had to run straight to work. I was so ready to write this place off as mediocre, but I decided to give them another chance. I made an appointment to get the two nails fixed the next day, and they got me in no problem. THIS is why I'm giving this place five stars. When I arrived, the woman asked me if I remembered my color. I didn't, so she patiently swatched multiple shades ON HER OWN NAILS to get a perfect match. I should say matching a red polish with the variety they had is NO easy task! She then whisked me away and not only redid the two smudged nails, but touched up the rest and redid the top coat on ALL of them, all for NO CHARGE. I was completely blown away by the level of customer service I received. That, in addition to the excellent service and the quality of their products, made it for me. Now I know to wait a little longer for dry time, but it's worth it. My nails now look fantastic, and I will DEFINITELY be back!! read more
