This is the most racist nail place I have ever been to! I am a person of color and I realize that there have been times where I've walked in and sat to wait for over an hour while people (mostly white) just come in the door and get a seat. I get dirty looks from the workers and they will often times stare at you, begin to talk in their language and laugh. Once I do get a seat, the workers are rushing on my nails and trying to get me out as soon as possible. I feel super uncomfortable here and I am never returning!!!! read more

Was greated as soon as my neice, and I walked in by very friendly staff. They accomodated our requests to specific design we wanted on our nails. Pedicure was very relaxing, and staff clearly wanted You as a customer to be happy with the service they provided. I highly recommend this salon for any of your needs . Including pedicures,manicures, waxing, and facials too. The enviroment is very pretty and luxury pedicure chairs with massage.Kira was very sweet, and wanted to make sure I left with a smile. Such a bad experience here. Not only are they rude and my nails came out awful (lumpy, uneven, thin) they are acrylic, but they tried to charge me extra! An acrylic fill for Marists students is 17 dollars. They tried to charge me more and said I was over 22 years old. I showed them my student ID and NYS drivers license which clearly states i am 18 years old and my birthday is in two days. Will NEVER go back there. I'm beyond disappointed. Unfortunately unhappy with the nail salon. Went to the nail salon for a mani n pedi. I first got the pedi done and the guy was moving 1000 miles a minute; scraping the side of the ankle/leg with hard sponge scrubber about 3x. Then the owner,Kiro, did the mani and cut my nails so short that 1 of them was hurting me. I asked to her to trim my nails and I left with stubs. I got an apology but was told she couldn't put my nails back on..Really!! Would not recommend this salon to anyone. I love this place so much!! Everyone is so nice and good at what they do! I notice that every time I get my nails done everything is very sterile and clean which very important for me! When ever I go I usually make an appointment and they are very good about making sure you get in and get done at a good time! I have walked in before without an appointment and got right in! It's usually always busy because of all of their regulars who keep coming back! When ever I get a manicure I get gel with the hard gel on top and my nails will stay done perfectly for a month before I see a chip! I really do love 5th ave and recommend it to everyone that I know because they have never done a bad job!!! I won't ever return to this nail salon. I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star. First my daughter and I stood there for 15 minutes and I kept trying to ask the different workers a question and they ignored me. Didn't greet us etc...They charged me for a full set of gel and all I wanted was a gel fill on all nails and have them freshly painted. I got a pedicure and it was the worst pedicure ever. The younger women did it and she hurt both my legs and feet. She was rude, did a half ass job , insulted me, and caused me to get an infection on my leg from rubbing it so hard. My daughter had a better experience with an older woman that did her pedicure, but the worker that did her nails didn't do such a great job on her nails either. Although I did wait a very long time both in the waiting area and in the pedicure chair (before they even turned on the water,) I ended up leaving with a beautiful manicure and pedicure that didn't chip for a long time. I went here a couple of years ago and didn't like it. For gels. My regular place is closed today and I'm going out of town so found myself here....and they still, well, suck. It isn't well ventilated and smells of chemicals. Their color samples are encased in plastic sheaths so you can't get a good sense of what the color would look like against your skin. Plus the lighting is terrible, I had to hold them up in the doorway to see the colors. For having tons of colors, somehow none seem appealing. Whoever my technician was, it felt like it was her first day. She was not efficient at all. I don't mind methodical but she was also just.....bad. For how long she took, my nails are jagged. There's a bubble 2 nails. Polish isn't even in a few places. Stuff - cotton, debris, I don't know - is in a few as well. She was quite pleasant, just not at all good at what she does. Personal preference perhaps but they use that electric nail file vs just hand filing off the old gel and I don't like it, she went too far on one nail and it burned. read more

Nice work! Switched to this salon yesterday from another local shop. (who I have been less than pleased with). I called ahead of time to make sure they could take me as a walk in, and they could. I arrived 15 minutes later and they had a chair ready for me. I got my old acrylics removed and had the gentleman put a new full set on. ($27). They used to be so nice to me. I would wait only about 20 minutes. Now I wait at least 50+ minutes. They treat younger people horribly. Even if you are a marist student. I started noticing a change in their customer service about a year ago. They started rushing to get people done and their work was poorly done. I have acrylic nails and they would often break within five day of getting them. Sometimes I would be lucky and they wouldn't break till about a week and a half. But as time went on this place just got incredibly RUDE and it feels like it was just to me. Every time I would walk in the owner Brian, would look up at me then look back down and say "Sorry we aren't taking anyone else today" The first time this happened I just left because it was 5pm on a Friday and they were kinda busy. The second time this happened I called ahead of time and asked if they were busy and what time to come in. Brian said to come in about an hour. As soon as I walked in to that nail salon he looked at me and said "We are not taking anymore people" I told him I just called an hour ago and he told me to come in an hour. He said ok but it's a 20 minute wait. I called at 12:00pm it was now 1:00pm on a Tuesday in April. They were not busy at all. And as everyone else came in the Owner Brian would say hi and asked them what they needed. Never did he tell any of them they were not taking anyone else or closing soon. The last time I ever went there was a few days ago I called ahead to see if they were busy and he said to come now at around 4:00pm. I only live about five minutes away so it took me about five minutes to get there. As soon as I walked in Brian said those famous words "We are not taking anymore people" I told him I just got off the phone with him and he said come now. He stared at me for a while and said oh ok pick a color. A bunch of people came in after me and he never said what he said to me to them. People that came in after me were seated before me. I was waiting for about an hour before I was seated and the girl doing my nails kept getting up and doing other thing and talking with other workers. When she finally started doing my nails she RUSHED and was so rough and harsh with my hands. Three of my fingers bled. I got a new full set with gel. This process takes over an hour to do. She was done in 50 minutes. So moral of this, just don't go. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! Literally go ANYWHERE ELSE and you will get a million% better service there. read more

I went there for waxing and I was a little nervous, but Kira was very friendly and sweet and helped me feel at ease. Plus, she was very quick and proficient, so I was very happy with the results. Amazing job done here. I know a couple girls who swear by this place when it comes to acrylics. I got an acrylic overlay using a free form to give a little length...no tip was applied. Not to mention, they really care and take their time for you but are very timely (hope that makes sense). They also make sure u like the colors you choose. I got my first ever set of acrylics done here. It was good quality wise, however my nail tech was a little less than friendly.

I have been going to 5th Ave Nail Spa for over five years. Kira is the owner and she cares that her customers leave happy. I usually make an appointment with her to do my nails andd sometimes I even call ahead just to see if they are real busy and if it would be better for me to come a few minutes earlier or later. Occasionally another technician has done my nails and I've always been happy. It's a busy place so it's best if you can get an appointment but you also need to allow a little extra time sometimes. In the past year, she opened her second location which is Madison Ave, near Big Lots on Route 44. It's smaller than 5th Ave but the technicians there are very good also. I always recommend both sites to my friends. read more

I went to this salon for years and never had any real issues besides minor ones but that is me being very particular with my nails. But recently since December i have had issues with waiting for long periods of time even when i make an appointment, not being greeted when i walk in but others being greeted as i am still standing at the counter, and poor nail services. I have had issues with my nails lifting within a week of me paying to get them done. I have made plenty appointments and was told to i had to wait or walk ins were taken before me but when i decided there was no reason in making appointments when walk ins were a priority, I was then skipped over for people with appointments and other walk ins as well. There is a time i waited over an hour to be asked to come back the next day ( i refused) as the OWNER Brian did not write down my confirmed appointment days prior. To put the icing on the cake, yesterday i went in around 5pm to get a fill and i waited over 2 and a half hours to be seated after being skipped over, not greeted or asked what i would like to be done ( that was asked after an hour of waiting). I had to approach the OWNER Brian to ask when i was going to be next as nobody cared to let me or anyone know there would be an extended wait time. When i explained that i was being skipped over the owner said it was due to me having acrylics and nobody who could do acrylics was available. That was a lie because people who were complaining that they waited 15 minutes were being seated before me who were getting full sets. I then was seated with Jenny who rushed to do my nails because she wanted to go home. After waiting 2 hours to be told the color i wanted was no longer available because they aren't reordering the brand they currently have. It would of been nice for them to mark the color off as unavailable. After being annoyed i just got a regular fill with nothing ontop as i already had an acrylic design that Jenny did not want to take off as she wouldn't have to do alot of filing. Here today is and not even 24 hours after my nail is lifting which is a nail that she had to cut a piece of acrylic off because it was lifting but did not fill it in all the way. I went back to the shop had to wait 40 mins just to get the lifting acrylic " glued" down which clearly will not last another 2 weeks and for her to say my set is old. the nail in which she fixed was recently replaced so it was not old she just rushed and STILL did not fix it correctly. I will never go to this salon or their franchise salon again as i have wasted alot of time and money for poor service and even more poor customer service. read more

Good quality. Slightly higher prices. Usually busy, be prepared to wait. They do beautiful work, and have a great atmosphere...but you usually feel rushed. They do a good job of getting you in and out in a timely fashion, but not the place I'd like to go when you actually want to RELAX while getting your nails done. I'm honestly so upset that I went to this place. I decided to try this nail salon after hearing that the cost of a pedicure is half the price of the place I usually go to. I assumed with the busy location it must be a popular place since I always see cars parked there. As I was getting my pedicure the guy sliced my toe open with the callus remover which I obviously felt, but he acted like nothing happened. I kept moving my foot because I was in pain, so he begins to blow it making it burn even more. He didn't say sorry once and tried to act like the whole thing didn't even happen. Like honey do you not see the blood on the towel? When I then pointed it out to him verbally, he went to get a blue liquid and poured it on my toe. The container was unlabeled and I felt nervous about bacteria and not knowing what he was putting onto my open wound. The lady who was doing a pedicure next to me took a look at it and said it was nothing meanwhile there's blood coming for my toe and I'm in pain. After my pedicure was done the guy disappeared into the back of the shop. Obviously when I went to pay I spoke to the manager and showed it to him and all he did was discount me a measly $10. I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE. I would rather pay double at the place I used to go to than risk infection in this dirty place. read more

They do a good job however, many times I have been to this nail salon my cuticles were completely butchered. When I come in for a gel or regular manicure they use the buzzer tool, which I think causes severe damage to the nail plate. Also, one time the man using the cuticle cutter tool on me made me bleed severely in all of my fingers. I was left with scabs on all 10 fingers for weeks. They also need to invest in a higher quality top coat for their gel manicures because the one they use made my nails dull and it wasn't shiny at all. If I'm paying extra for gel I expect high quality nail products, especially the top coat. read more

I have been going to this nail salon for 4 years but recently decided to switch. They do an OK job if you ask for Jenny. They don't pay attention to fine detail, which is important when it comes to nail work. However, I will say that they do a good job if you want a crazy nail design with diamonds glitter etc. Also their prices are always different. NEVER go to this place. The staff is rude, the place reeks of chemicals 24/7 because of the poor ventilation, AND they use dirty disgusting tools. I am a student at Marist college and at first I loved this place for they're cheap gel nails, but over time they would use the electric file which almost went through my nail, because they are so rough with it. In addition, I noticed that not only were they constantly butchering my cuticles but WARTS developed on the cuticle area of my skin FROM THEM NOT CLEANING THE TOOLS!!!!!!
