Man, do I hate writing negative reviews, especially of immigrant owned businesses. HATE it. These people work hard for so many who are entitled and with expectations not in line with the reality of what they're paying for. But I have to leave this review not to hurt the salon or to help them (which I know this review won't do) but to warn potential customers. There is one good thing about this salon and it's the owner Rose. She does a great job and is, accordingly, almost always booked up. Everything else is kind of a disaster. The salon is so dirty, which they can hide to a degree by keeping the lighting pretty dim, they employ inexperienced and flighty technicians whose sloppy work you have to come back to have Rose redo, and they carry the cheapest products and polishes (no OPI) but charge the same. Despite all this, I was still willing to come back and trusted the one older male technician because, I thought, he was the owner or the owner's husband and would, plainly, do a better job. Usually when you have ownership, you do a better job. He upsold me on the UV gel manicure, did an objectively terrible job (the file down was uneven and so bulky on the sides it made the nail look crooked, something I pointed out to him during the procedure yet he didn't fix), and ruined my nails for 2 months while they had to completely grow out. I wish I had saved the photos. If you're looking for a quick pedicure, I'm sure you can do worse, and if you can get in with Rose you'll be good, but for everything else, go elsewhere. read more

Came to Fishkill in December for a wedding. I had time to "kill" so I yelped a nail place. There was one 10 minutes away with better ratings, but they were booked. I called this place and they had an opening. It's a QUIET place in a non descriptive stripmall off Main Street and Cary. Although the writings on the wall are Chinese, it's Korean run nail place, and the staff speaks excellent English. I asked for a "basic" pedicure and saw a sign on the wall that said Spa Pedicure $40. I assume that was the price. Here's what I got: Cut down Sugar scrub Spritz rose water Hot towel wipe down Lotion massage Hot callous soak for my heels Nail clean up And I asked for no polish since I was wearing boots anyway. Because of New Years they were closed so I could not get in touch with them again until today (Wednesday). I explained what happened and went in to get them fixed. She talked me into getting some hard coat to go under the gel for $10 because she said it would help them last longer. She told me that my nails probably peeled because I have "oils on my nails and they are so short". Was excited to hear they're under new management and decided to go for an SNS manicure. The man who did my nails was very nice but I wasn't thrilled with the technique. Usually when I get SNS, everything dries quickly and is filed and has a nice shine. They use a brand called Sakura here that I looked up when got home. I read that it's supposed to be"cured" under UV/LED lights which they didn't do and explains why I ended up with uneven spots and runs in the Polish. :-( I tried to get him to fix a couple of nails and he just added more top coat that didn't dry properly so I gave up and left as soon as it was dry enough to get in the car. I will definitely stick to salons that use SNS in the future. read more

HORRIBLE customer service!! Went in for a SNS manicure and from the begging I let the man doing my nails know-his name was Hai, that I wanted a neutral color. During the process, I kept bluntly saying how I didn't like the color. He kept telling me how it will be fine and the way I want at the end of the manicure. Fast forward to the end of the manicure and I absolutely hate it! The color and how it was dipped just awful!! Now, I'm in the customer service business and the proper way to handle a situation like this one with me not like the color or dip job would simply be to re-do it with the color I wanted from the beginning and make the customer happy. What I got instead of this was complete attitude from Hai. Sure he re-did it but he was SO AGGRESSIVE during the process of re-doing it and had this mean look on his face the whole time. He cut my cuticles multiple times the second time around and the dip job was done even more awful then the first time. Now, Here's the kicker, the owner actually came to ring me up for the SNS manicure and asked me for $10 high then the set price on my manicure. I told her that was not the price I was quoted but she said since I wanted a change of color I was being charged $10 extra. I was APPALLED!! I refused to pay the extra $10 and she obliged after a bunch of arguing back-and-forth. These are extremely RUDE people who obviously just care about the money and not, the satisfaction of their customers. Don't let the man do your nails or feet! In February he argued with me, after I spoke to him first about doing a natural manicure and pedicure. I had brought my own polish and was going to a wedding and the color of dress I was wearing. He tried to talk me into using a gel color and he kept asking like I was going to change my mind! 5 times before h started doing my toenails. I had to tell him to stop cutting the cuticles off and l had to keep telling him stop it! Cuticles are needed keep your nails growing and by not cutting them, it helps prevent infections from happening. This location used to do reflexology and more natural services. Was in town for a wedding and was in need of some quick nail beautification. I passed by Fishkill Nail on my way to another salon I found on Yelp and figured I'd give it a try - so glad I did! My only disappointment is that I can't make this place a regular destination for my nail needs. Fishkill Nail was well lit and clean. Acceptable assortment of the usual OPI and Essie colors, as well as a few other salon brands. Decent prices for the area: $33 for a basic mani + pedi. They're also offering the 'permanent' gel manicures there as well for $25 (which is on par with what I pay in NYC). Yumi (Yoomi? sp?) took care of my fingers and toes and did a FANTASTIC job. She was also very pleasant in general and spoke very good English. Everyone else in the salon while I was there was clearly a local and clearly a regular patron on this salon - they all knew each other by name and just adored each other. I'm sorry that I can't be part of that regular scene...but perhaps you can. Give them a try. read more

I happened to be in the area with time for a long-overdue mani/pedi on my hands. After reading multiple reviews on this site, I walked into Fishkill Melody Nail. While it is not as pretty or sleek as other salons, it is very clean. More importantly, everyone spoke excellent English and were very friendly. I normally get a spa pedicure wherever I go but, as a previous reviewer stated, the $25 basic pedicure is sufficient. Currently, they offer $5 off the price of a pedicure on Monday-Thursday, so I only paid $20! I had a gel manicure for $25 as well. Stella did a great job on both. I will definitely return. The other techs, Lee and Rosa, had a nice rapport with their customers. I would prefer, however, that they offered a fuller selection of OPI nail polish, as that is my preferred brand. read more

I felt like going somewhere different, and I saw a sign that said "Under New Management". It is now called Fishkill Melody Spa & Nail. I walked in without an appointment. I was told 10 minutes, pick a color. Since I waited for over 30 minutes (no big deal, but they kept saying 5 more minutes, over and over), I had time to look around. Picking a color was a bit of a challenge as the nail polishes are just randomly placed on the shelves with no rhyme or reason, and no sense of order. It is more helpful when the similar colors are at least next to each. The bottles were also way more drippy than usual with dry polish crusted at the necks of the bottles. By this time, I had already decided I wouldn't be coming back just from the state of the shelves, and the lack of color selection and the cheap brands of polish. This shows a lack of pride and no concern about the appearance of their business. I found the disorder a sign of what was to come, and I was right. I also don't like when salons have those drills hanging on poles for the acrylics...they don't change the drill bits at all, let alone between clients, and are unsanitary. The woman who took care of me said she was the manager. She tried to be friendly, asking questions. Out of the fifty thousand gel nail colors they give you to chose from, I picked a color they actually didn't have (I wonder how many others they don't have)....and I only know this because one of the other nail techs say she didn't think they had it 10 mins before when I first picked the color...and I heard it. So...this woman...who speaks English just fine, brings over 2 different polishes, and tried to start applying it. I told her that was not the right color, she starting babbling something (all of a sudden in broken English?) about how one was the base color and the other was a top color. It said again, no...that is not the right color...you don't MIX those colors to get the color I chose...pretending like that's the way it's supposed to be (you think this is my first manicure?). She finally admitted they didn't have the color I asked for. So I said, then TELL me you don't have it, and I'll pick another color (everyone picks multiple colors in their head). You don't try to pull one over on me like I am stupid! She did a half-assed job, rushed through it, soaked my hands for 2 seconds in plain water like that was going to be enough to soften my cuticles...so she ended up ripping my cuticles off (I have blood at the base of my nails), and when l left, my hands were just as dry as when I walked in...and that was after applying cream. And there was no back massage- not that I needed it. I just wanted out. Then she was oh...the next time you come back, call first. Yeah...no thanks. I went to pay, and the guy didn't know how to used the credit card machine. He had to swipe and cancel my card 3 times because he could get it to work. I took the machine, and I made it work. Then, the paper on the credit card machine got stuck and he couldn't get it out to give me a receipt. So I took it out of his hand again...and I fixed it in 2 seconds. Okay so I've been here twice now cause of the new ownership . Place is super clean SUPER friendly which is hard to find at nail places sometimes. They do a fantastic job and I'm honestly picky. I get the gel powder and I go to Lisa she really takes her time it got a little busy and not once did she leave she was just focused on making my nails awesome. I've been here a handful of times, and it's been fine overall. However, I went in for a manicure and eyebrow wax, and I will not be returning. The mail technician that worked with me was kind, but a bit pushy, and talked me into the "winter" spa pedicure. She painted my nails, waxed my eyebrows (which came out fine), then gave a "free" five minute massage (which was rather painful), and the did a paraffin was. She didn't allow my nails enough time to dry!! The polish is smudged, and looks terrible. With the manicure, eyebrow wax, and then a tip, it cost $40- and my nails look awful and will need to be redone. read more

I went to melody nails out of Convenience it was close to home most of the time I got Gel manicures which by the way never seem to last the last time I was there I change my mind at the end and asked if I could have more of a design on the rest of my nails in which the response I got was I asked you when I was doing your nails and you did not answer I already put topcoat on very rude always in a rush I asked if my cuticles could be pushed back in respond I got no I can't that's why I use the drill why would you have to drill my cuticles when you're doing a gel manicure the only one that's in there that does a decent job and is the owner I've only dealt with the owner and her sisterHer sister seems as if she doesn't want to be there and as if it is a chore to do nails I will not be going back with the last experience I had plus they nickel and dime you for every little thing not worth the time or energy or the money read more

Horrible. Went in for an SNS manicure... they used the same powder on my natural nails that they do pink and white acrylics with (unbeknownst to me at the time). Also burned me with the electric drill after I asked them not to use it so roughly. TWO days after, they were all chipping and lifting. Completely ruined my nails, one or 2 chipped and lifted down to the skin. Now I have no choice but to do an artificial nail. Will never give them another dime. read more
