I was here after Thanksgiving and absolutely benefited from the experience. My friend's mom took her, me, and her bro here after lunch and it was an hour of blissful relaxation. That being said if you're expecting Swedish massage you will be sorely (no pun intended) disappointed. Chinese massage techniques involve pressure points, head massage, and hand and foot massage. We each had the combo of 30 min out front and 30 min table massage in the back area. Other people have mentioned a man who burps during the massage - so I will say the guy who did my massage had just eaten lunch and I could smell the food during my massage - but he didn't burp, so I'm guessing it was just saturated in his clothes. They could benefit from all wearing a type of uniform and change before and after eating smelly foods. However, you can't really be upset with a decent hour of massage for under $25!! They shouldn't have to tell you to bring cash for tips since that is pretty standard for any spa services you get anywhere, but I can understand how it is jarring when they bring it up. Culturally, I know they are just blunt about it, but it rubs people the wrong way. I was so relaxed on the table I fell asleep a couple of times. The amount of pressure exerted by the masseuse was just right. People often make the mistake of not telling their masseuse if they want more or less pressure and then are upset after the massage because they wished it were different. I, too, have been afraid to speak up in the past. This time the guy asked a couple of times if the pressure was good. I have been looking forward to going back there since November! My sister, niece and I. All came for a massages. We were impressed with your services at all. The guy I got was not actually massaging at all, it felt more like a rub down. He would skip over the parts of my body that had tension. Was very aggressively moving me. It was not a relaxing or enjoyable experience at all. My sister was done with her massage first. So she paid for all of us then went to the car to wait for me. When I went up there, they told me my sister hadn't tipped at all so I gave all three of the people who services us a tip. ZERO star rating!!!! Why do you have to give them one star? This place is horrible. First off I don't like being messaged by a man, so I requested a woman. The guy became angry and replied "no woman just man." So my wife asks how long for a woman. Obviously frustrated the guy says 40 minutes. I've been frequenting this establishment, and particular location, for years. Wendy is by far my wife's and my favorite. However, within the last year, the quality of massage has significantly depreciated while the prices remain the same. If the massage is going to be as terrible as my wife's and mine were today, then I'd be surprised if this place is still in business in the next couple years. First of all, she selected a level 2 and I selected a level 3. We've both been accustomed to massages for over a decade and today was inexcusable with regard to the complete disregard for a client's comfort. The masseuses didn't pay any attention to our physical responses (no I didn't say "too hard" because they haven't given me the impression based on multiple interactions that they speak English outside of transactional English), and it really is disappointing when you're staring at a bottle of lotion through the face cut-out in the table that would clearly make the rubbing of my neck not feel like a grave was being dug, yet it isn't used...not once! Second, there's no reason why we should be treated like an inconvenience because we don't have cash for a tip even though we're happy to tip with our card (this is the 21st century). And on that note, don't tell me to bring cash and act ungrateful for the tip. Instead, figure out your point of sale processing so that you can accommodate the people that spend money in your establishment. I worked in the service industry for years and I understand wanting to avoid paying taxes where you can, but the tax system only works when everyone pays in. Overall, the massage today that both my wife and I received from two different people was absolutely and inexcusably awful; I wouldn't wish our experience on anyone and this place has now lost customers for life. This place generally has bad reviews so I was hesitant to come back after not having been here for years. In the past I've felt they were too rough and other reviews suggested that. Today I had a good experience. I choose level 1, 20 min chair massage. I felt the massage was a level 1 intensity so that was good, because I bruise easily. * this is a lengthy review but please read until the end, the end of my experience makes me want to get this place shut down* My mother and father in law frequently go to this massage place so I thought I would give it a try this evening because it was the closest to my home. I regret my decision because my experience was TERRIBLE. I walk in and am not greeted or directed to sign into the clipboard (I don't expect must out of my customer service experience but a simply "hello" wouldn't hurt) I am then approached by a man who said "okay" and I assume wanted me to follow him. Once at the massage table, he doesn't give me any direction on what he wants me to do. I ask him where I should put my keys, wallet and eyeglasses, so he gives me a bucket and then says "lay". So i lay down expecting to be relaxed and feel blissful but no, as he starts "massaging" (more like torturing) he begins having a conversation with the man next to him. He proceeds to talk for a good portion of my massage which frustrates me when I am paying for relaxation. The massage portion was bare-able in some places and painful in others; though I selected a 1 for pressure. After my massage, he says "done" and I tell him thank you. I am waiting for him to get my bucket of items with my glasses, keys and wallet but he does not. So I get on my hands and knees and get the bucket from under the massage table. So rude!! Then he walks me over to the counter to pay. He immediately points to a sign that says "cash tips only". I give him my Visa card to pay for my $31 massage and he shakes his head no. I am confused so I ask do you not take Visa card? And he laughs at me and keeps pointing to the cash tip sign. I say I don't have any cash. Then another man comes up to me and hands me a calculator and types in $31 and says "how much tip you gunna give" I should have said "no tip, my experience was terrible" but to be kind I said "$2" and typed it into the calculator. The man who massages me looks upset and yells something in a another language. When my receipt prints out he kind of throws it my direction and says "sign" and I sign. When my copy of the receipt prints he throws that and my card at me. Like literally threw it at me. I'm so beyond upset that they treat people like that. Massage is good and I go regularly because it's close and convenient... However here are my seriosi complaints: 1. Last time I went, I signed a $5 tip on my credit card but saw it come up on my credit card bill as a $10 tip! They tipped themselves extra $5. When I went back and asked/ showed them the discrepancy they told me no one spoke enough English to help me and to call a number on a card. Unacceptable!! 2. The towels/ blankets you lay on are my washed between clients! Concerning! I'm honestly not sure the towels for the face are either. I saw this today and not sure I can go back, 3. Massage chairs are cheap and broken. They rock and away with each massage stroke. They don't know how to appropriately adjust them and become very uncomfortable as I'm holding on to not fall rather than relaxing. 4. I've had a kind gentleman who is Actually really good the last 3'times but the overwhelming smell of fresh and stale Cigarette smoke lingers on his clothes and skin and I got in my car and could smell it on me and then for in my car later and my whole car smelled!! Gross! Unacceptable. I have a newborn baby and recent studies show that nicotine lingers on the skin and can have similar effects to second hand smoke... Can't believe I paid for that!? I was asked to sign in, so I signed in and chose the service I was wanting and circled 20 minutes. The employee at the front desk laughed in my face, instead of specifying that generally the leg / foot massage is 40-60 minutes. So I asked was 20 minutes not ok, absolutely not knowing the general time of the service. Mind you, no one ever offered a menu for me to look at. It was a semi decent foot massage - not worth $17. when I walked back to the front to pay for the service the employee at the front desk literally did not acknowledge me, the masseuse came over to check me out so I could leave.... I have a $20, got my change, and the employees demanded that I tip them. Under no circumstances would I ever tip for a service that was mediocre with a staff that is so rude and disrespectful. I get massages to work things out - I can take a nap at home. So when I ask for a "30-min chair massage, #5 on the intensity scale" I don't want to be disappointed. Let me tell you, this was not a disappointment! Expecting neck and shoulders, with some middle and low back thrown in for good measure I was blown away at what I received for $17 plus tip. "Mike" was literally out of breath a few times working me over - neck and shoulders for sure, full back was covered, even got a good hit on hips, IT-band, a bit of calves, and a great scalp massage. I have never commented on yelp before, but I had to warn patrons of this establishment. I had a massage later in the evening, just before they closed. I had left my watch and wasn't to worried since I would stop by in the morning to pick it up. When I walked in that morning and asked if they had my watch. My massage therapist started yelling at me that I didn't leave my watch! At no time did I accuse her and I just wanted to check where I had gotten my massage. She followed me around yelling at me NO WATCH! NO WATCH! I am no detective, but I felt it seemed a bit suspicious! Considering the price and the availability, this place is great. I've been several times and had different people each time. Some are better than others but in the end, they all do a good job. If you go in and get a good masseuse, remember their name and you can request them the next time. And yes, as noted in many of the other reviews, they ask for a tip if you pay by credit card. Service now sucks, no one speaks English, and I felt so uncomfortable with a man with long hear whispering in Chinese throughout my whole Swedish massage (in the room).
