We were offered a free table by promoters for the night of the 20th of March, and were told to provide a name list and for the guests to bring ID.
We complied with their requirements and arrived at the club on time.
They didn't let in two of my friends because they were black girls.
I wish I was joking.
I chatted to the staff at the door and while they gave a general standard answer of "I don't know why but management asked us not to let them in," one of the staff members confirmed to me that they would have let in my other three white guests but not the two black guests because management "didn't like their look."
I tried to negotiate and bargain their entry however in hindsight I should've left on the spot. Five minutes after attempting to negotiate with them, our entire group left the club.
It is 2015. I couldn't believe that such racism still exists.
Never again, ever. I am not letting this go and will make sure my voice is heard in every available avenue. read more
