Let me start by saying that i've never written a review in my life but I felt like people deserved a fair warning. My friend and I finally went to check this place out after eyeing it for a few weeks. It recently took over the previous Zinburger location in Springfield Mall. The atmosphere is really nice and the place has a very open concept, which I liked. We started off with sushi, which was delicious. The server told us one of their most popular dishes was the crab fried rice, so my friend ordered that and I ordered the short ribs. We got our sushi in a reasonable time and finished it. The server came back to tell me they were out of short ribs, so I had to change my order to the shaky beef. We were waiting there for at least 45 minutes before a manager finally came to apologize and inform us that the kitchen is backed up and we were the next ticket in line. The server didn't come once after taking our order. I felt like it was because she noticed how long the kitchen was taking and avoided our table like the plague. In reality, you should be teaching your servers to communicate with customers. Regardless of the wait, we decided to remain patient. The manager got us drinks on the house to sweeten the deal (in reality, the manager only offered my friend a drink and my friend had to go and ask for mine as well, which was honestly embarrassing). Almost another 30 minutes later, our food finally arrives. I wish I could say that the almost hour and a half wait was worth it. The crab fried rice tasted exactly like the white rice that came with my shaky beef - bland, unseasoned and dry. My friend sent it back and ordered the lamb chops which, as expected, was delayed getting to us again. The shaky beef was subpar at best and was certainly not worth the price. The lamb was decent, certainly better than the unseasoned crab fried rice but nothing special. This is a good place for sushi but based on the three dishes we tried, it's not good for much else. We were incredibly patient and saw two parties in the booth in front of us come and go before we ever received our meal and when it finally arrived, it was a huge disappointment. Based on the atmosphere and website look, I expected a lot more. I was thinking it would be comparable to Yard House or Maggie McFly's in terms of quality of food and service, but it fell short off that. I'm honestly not sure what happened - it was a Friday night and it seemed busy so maybe the food was rushed but after that long of a wait, the least they could've done is made the wait worth it. Instead, it was just a ruined date night and a waste of time. I had such high hopes for this place. It has potential and the atmosphere and decor are great, but the food was a disappointment. We had a reservation at 6:30 by the time we left the restaurant, it was nearly 9:30. 3 hours in there and $130 later, I wish we stuck to the nearby restaurants we knew. If you go, and I definitely won't, I highly suggest sticking to sushi. I really want this place to succeed but there's no way that's possible without getting the most basic thing in check. You're a restaurant, your food should be good. Reality is, the food sucks here. I can't believe we spent time and money for that. It was at least an hour and a half wait, the food should've been on the house, especially considering the fact that you couldn't make the wait worth it. Having us pay for that is honestly embarrassing because we were there for a long time before we got our food and once we did, it wasn't even good. Doesn't matter though, I won't be returning. I would've considered it for the sushi but I don't think enough was done to rectify our terrible experience. To the owners, I highly suggest either revisiting your pricing structure or upgrading the quality of food. Right now, the two don't match since most of the food is not good. I hope you're able to turn the corner as I'm sure there's some growing pains but you're a restaurant, without good food, ambiance, music and drinks will only take you so far. Good luck! read more
