I've had my laundry done here several times... and so far so good. The reason for the 4 stars is b/c one time my laundry did not arrive on the time requested, but it did come @ the time they stated it would. Will definitely continue to use. read more

I'm bummed to write this review since I used this service for almost a year and at the very beginning things were pretty darned good. The guy that picks up and delivers was always more than pleasant and the laundry was always folded nicely and it was nice to not deal with the cloying smell of scented detergent. However, in the past 6 months things have totally gone downhill. Every time I call to schedule a pickup the day needs to be rescheduled and then sometimes rescheduled again. I can't say how many times I've been late for work waiting for my stuff to be picked up. And waiting and waiting.... And waiting. It's just not worth it anymore to me. I'm not waiting for them to get it together any longer. I found a new pick up/delivery spot and the first time I called they sent a guy on a bike to pick up my stuff. He was here in 15 minutes. I danced with joy and almost hugged him which was a little embarrassing for us both, but that's another story. Bottom line, the 5 star guys are nice, and I have nothing against them personally, they just need to get their business together, If you can't be somewhere during a window of time - TELL US. And most importantly, let us know when you are available to swing by and actually stick to it. Until that happens I foresee lots of pilgrimage to the other (cheaper) laundry service. read more

Like the first review, I found 5 star on the google and didn't see any feedback, so was crossing my fingers when i handed over a 30lb bag of laundry. But! they arrived to pick it up right on time, at 9 in the morning. Then they showed up the next day right on time, buzzed them in & they were at my door! & I live in a 4th floor walkup! Laundry was neatly folded and packed, superclean--they even got the stains out of my favorite t-shirt, the drop-off service i used to use couldn't do that--and smell-free. Paid over the internet no problem, I think it might be 5 cents more per pound than the drop-off? Plus a few bucks for the tip. Totally worth it. Granted, I've only used them once so far. But this will probably change my life, no joke. btw often read yelp but just got my own profile so i could review 5 star. super satisfied. after another successful run i plan to bump them up another rating point. read more

I really hate to write this review but here goes... I am new to the city and had a bunch of laundry from the cross country drive etc (45 lbs ish). It was too much to carry so I started researching pick up and drop off laundry that serviced Bushwick. After reading the reviews here, it seemed like the main problem people had was with timing or missed pick up / drop off times. I am a pretty flexible person and really I was just concerned about how well my clothes are treated and that they all get back to me. Most people seemed to think the quality of the cleaning was great so I was sold. The pick up was very smooth! The guy came at the beginning of the window, was super nice and made sure I was clear about the no fragrance cleaning (which I unexpectedly love). I scheduled Tuesday before 9am drop off. They called me Tues morning and rescheduled for Weds morning which I sort of saw coming with the reviews I read. Still, not a deal breaker at all. The guy came and dropped off 3 bags. 2 were the white cotton kmart ones I had recently purchased and 1 was a nice natural canvas color that was not mine. This alarmed me so I opened up the canvas bag to discover half my clothes and half someone else's clothes. I sorted through the three bags and took out all the clothes that were not mine (A LOT). After 20 minutes of sorting in my hall way at 8am, I was sweating and having to assure the guy that no these were not my clothes and I do not have a roommate. The guy went back down to see if he had any other white bags since I was missing a bunch of clothes. He came back up with my other shitty kmart bag and that was the rest of my clothes. I have to say the cleaning itself and the folding is fabulous. The delivery guy apologized and took down my email so they can send me a discount (I will update). I am so sad that I had to write this but seriously the only thing I was worried about going into this was losing a bunch of clothes and that almost happened. read more

I like this place so much I signed up for a Yelp account just so I could review them. They're always punctual and they do a consistently great job on the cleaning end of things. Oh and matching/rolling my socks! What?! Extra points for being eco-friendly! Tip: Use their online order form. It's actually the best way to do business with them, and it's crazy easy. Just be sure to place your pickup order before 7PM if you need them to come that day. read more

I started using this service during my pregnancy when I couldn't get my laundry to the laundromat. It is very convenient. I schedule online, communicate via email, and pay by PayPal on their site. The driver shows up for pickup and delivery when they say he will (or they communicate far in advance if there are any changes). My clothes are returned clean and folded better than I ever would have attempted to fold them. And they use Tide! Great! (but you can choose your preferred detergent, obviously I like Tide.) It gets expensive, but then again, I only use them when I hit a major laundry crisis so I have only the experience of sending several bags at a time. It's likely very reasonably priced for normal folks with average laundry habits. read more

5 Star were really sweet and wrote me an email explaining why my clothes didn't smell flower-esque, explaining that they are a green company, using green products. Oh. My. God. Never again. I thought this place sounded good so I did their pick up/drop off service. Nope. When they came to pick it up, they wouldn't even walk up one flight of stairs to get it. We had to bring it down for them. I waited all day the day it was supposed to be dropped off, only to get a text from them saying they needed to reschedule for the next day. Fast forward to the next day. Again, I waited all day. Only to be texted again (not even a phone call) telling me they would reschedule again for the NEXT DAY. I couldn't believe it. I called the guy and he gave me some story about their van breaking down. When I asked if I would be compensated he answered "I'll take 5 bucks off". Our laundry came and not everything was even neatly folded. Plus, the price was wayyyyyy higher than I expected, it cost about 20 dollars more than if I had it done somewhere else. Yeah. After using 5 Star for all my laundy for 4 years, the website went down and the service is apparently out of business with no customer communication. Their service had been declining in recent months, but it's a shame they didn't alert their customers. Or maybe I was the only remaining customer? Who can say. This place was absolutely horrible. They did our laundry just fine and I had no complaints there. But the delivery issues are a completely different story. First of all, if you want evening pick up/delivery, the time slots available are from 7:15 to 11. They don't tell you when they will come so you have to just be there at for all that time (and they never come until 11 anyway). We had scheduled a pick up last Saturday and the guy didn't show up until 2 am! The delivery was supposed to be for Tuesday which in my opinion is way to slow for a laundry turnaround. I tried calling the delivery man to let him know I hadn't received the payment email and wasn't sure how to proceed. His phone kept going to voicemail, he refused to call me back or text me and I never did get a hold of him. It was ridiculous. It was like they highjacked our clothes and I will never use this place again. Customer service was useless as well. They never answer the phones or call you back when you request it. Never again. Note: I am just seeing that the owner accused me of lying and said there was no 2am pickup. Bullshit. He came at two, and yes, I called multiple times. You might want review most of your reviews asshole. Your service sucks. read more

I used this place for a couple of months. They rarely dropped my laundry off on the scheduled day. Also, they ruined my brand new laundry bag that I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond. This cost me $24 and was a sweet laundry bag. When I received my laundry, the bag was cut up in several places.....looked like a box cutter had gotten to it. It was really bazaar! and when I asked to be reimbursed since it happened in their care, the "owner' was a huge dick...... and only discounted me $9! he sounded completely ignorant and not like much of a business owner. And just to clarify, they say that they are eco-friendly.... well that's bullshit!!! Just because you use laundry detergent that is eco-friendly as an option on your menu doesn't mean you are eco-friendly. They use so many plastic bags to bag up the clean clothes that it's redic! I wasn't going to write a review after my first experience with 5 Star Laundry, because - disastrous as it was - I figured that everyone has bad days, and part of the problem may have been somewhat my fault, since I asked them to pick up an absolute ton of laundry. But after my most recent experience, I think it's worth a warning or two. First time: I had over 100 lbs of laundry to be picked up. 5 Star came and picked it up right on time. The driver is friendly and polite and super strong - he carried three of my blue IKEA bags full of laundry at the same time! The problems started with the scheduled delivery - I waited at home for the two hour window I'd requested for the drop-off, and.... no laundry. No phone call. No email. Uh oh! Has my laundry been kidnapped? They called me after the end of the drop-off window to tell me they'd need more time cause I had lots of laundry. Ok, I understand... wish you'd called me before I wasted an entire afternoon sitting in my apartment, but whatever. We rescheduled for the next day, Sunday, between 10 and 11. I wake up on Sunday to an email saying "We need until 3 pm, sorry." Okay, fine, I have to spend another beautiful summer afternoon waiting for my laundry? At this point, it would have taken less time for me to walk my gigantor laundry loads down to the laundromat and chill out with them. I leave brunch early, get home at 2 pm and wait. And wait. Laundry shows up at 4:45. To be fair, they gave me a coupon for $10 off of my next order, and all of the laundry was perfectly clean and beautifully folded. They even caught a couple of dry-clean only items and pulled them out rather than ruining them by tossing them in the wash. Their attention to detail is great, though their punctuality and communication skills leave a lot to be desired. So last Thursday, having a much more normal amount of laundry and a $10 coupon, I called up 5 Star again for another pickup. Pickup went smoothly, and the really nice delivery guy told me they had Saturday night or a Sunday morning delivery appointments. I picked Sunday morning between 10 and 12 and waved goodbye to my laundry. Surely it would be better this time! Yeah, no. Sunday between 10 and 12 comes and goes, with me sitting on my couch instead of being out in the sunshine or running other errands, and no laundry, no phone call. When I finally get through to someone, he tells me that one of their machines broke and they're really backed up. Okaaaay, but why didn't you call me? Oh, the computer system is down, too. Awesome. They offer to deliver the laundry to me first thing Monday morning, so I wake up at 6 am to wait for the 6 to 7 am drop off period. The driver arrived at 7:10... with half of my laundry. The other half wasn't done yet. I would have to wake up at 6 am again today to wait for the rest of my laundry, which finally came - yet again, a few minutes after seven. By my estimate, I have now spent eight and a half hours of my life waiting for 5 Star to drop my laundry off. To their credit, they do make attempts to make up for the inconvenience - but taking $8 off of my current order and offering me another $15 coupon for next time? Not quite enough. I won't be using them again, which sucks because they do have a lot of good points: great price, friendly driver, nice folks answering the phones and they do a great job on the laundry. But I've just been stood up by them too many times. ETA: 5 Star Laundry contacted me yesterday morning with a really nice email apologizing for the poor service and offering an even larger discount off of my next laundry service. I appreciate the gesture and thought it was worth repeating here. Seriously, these guys are really nice. Maybe I'll try them again after they've had some time to work out the kinks... and I've got my fingers crossed that they'll be so awesome I'll have to come back here and give 5 Stars the five stars they'd get otherwise. read more

I actually would give these guys four and three quarter stars if I could. The good things: My laundry goes out dirty and jammed into a trash bag and comes back perfectly clean, neatly folded and wrapped in plastic. Their turn around time is fast and they will pick up and deliver after 7 on week nights. They have a variety of options for detergents and fabric softeners and you can leave detailed instructions about how you want your laundry cleaned. My only really minor complaint is that their website could use a bit of a make-over and I really wish they would send me a confirmation as well as a reminder the day they are scheduled to come since you often have set the times up several days in advance. But these are very minor quibbles and are completely negated by the fact that they do a great job on my laundry, are reasonably priced, and offer options for how you want your laundry done and when they can pick up and deliver. read more

I was getting ready to move, was working 3 jobs, and barely had time to eat so of course laundry was low on the priority list. I had never sent out my laundry before (let alone a pickup/dropoff service) and gave this place a shot. AMAZING. Not only did I get a deal because I scheduled a delivery 2 days after my pickup, but they were on time, courteous when I called after my pickup with further instructions, and my clothes came back meticulously folded, socks matched and everything. Way worth every penny. Just wish I was staying in the neighborhood longer so I could use it more often! read more

This is the best laundry service I've used in Brooklyn. They pick up and drop off your clothes within an hour time frame, and if they're going to be late (which rarely happens) they call you to let you know. I haven't used their dry cleaning service, but for standard wash/dry they do an excellent job. They even let me specify different dryer settings for my clothes (which is awesome). read more

So I learned about 5 Star from the FIPS blog. As if the blogger read my mind, she posted raving about 5 Star at the exact time I was trying to figure out how to get some laundry done before a bunch of my friends were visiting for the weekend. I'm new to the city, and have been hesitant to try a laundry service. But it was seeming to be my best option since I work ridiculously long hours and the laundromats aren't open when I'm not working other than weekends, and the last few weekends I've been really busy and the laundry was been piling up....58 lbs of it to be exact....and when I saw the rave review of 5 Star I immediately went to their website. I noticed that they do pick-up and drop off during the few hours that I'm actually not working and I was in! Well that was the end of my excitement. Even though they advertised delivery times before 8am when I leave for work they told me they were not able to get to me before 8am the next day (a Wednesday). Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker. So I arranged for my pick up to be after work. I had a pick-up window on Wednesday of 9-10pm. They didn't come til after 10:30, which wasn't a huge deal, I mean I really wanted to go to bed but eh whatever I was only mildly annoyed, not upset at all. But it kept going downhill. Then they were delivering my laundry Friday with a window of 8:30-9:30pm (once again I'd hoped they could deliver before work but they couldn't even though a 7-8am time frame is advertised on the website). I had friends visiting from out of town and we had plans, but waiting around til 9:30 wasn't really gonna damper our evening. But 9:30 rolled around, still no laundry. I e-mailed (since they don't pick up their phone after 7pm but claim their email is checked 24/7) at 9:45 asking when it would be coming. I got no response back. 10pm rolled around still no laundry. At 10:30 I e-mailed again. No response, no laundry. Finally at 11:00pm my friends and I reallllllly wanted to leave, so I e-mailed to say I was leaving my apartment and for them not to bother to deliver it at that point, if anyone was ever actually planning on delivering it that night (which it was definitely seeming like they were not.) BUMMER :( I called Saturday and they apologized for never delivering my laundry, knocked $12 off the price (which I appreciated!), and set up a new delivery time of 4-5pm Saturday. My friends and I cut our time at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens short to make sure we were home by 4:00....but alas we could have stayed a lot longer because my laundry wasn't delivered until 5:52....almost an hour after my window! And this was after picking it up late, and never coming at all to deliver it the night before!!! It doesn't end there. On top of it all they left a whole bag of my laundry on their truck! Then (after discovering several items of my clothes, sheets, and towels were not returned to me, panicking, emailing them, and then continued panicking for an hour or so until they figured out that they did HAVE my missing laundry that it was just left on the truck and they did not in fact lose it or deliver my clothes to another customer) I had to arrange for ANOTHER drop-off window. Luckily this time they ACTUALLY made it to me within that window, for the first time in the 4 windows I'd made with them for pick-up/drop off for the same batch of laundry. Hey, I guess 1/4 ain't bad? Ok, it's pretty bad....especially considering I should not have had to MAKE 4 different windows, because it should have been dropped off in full the first time around! I was hoping for an e-mail apology or phone call from 5 Star, and perhaps some free laundry passes or something, but alas, nothing. Not that I'd have used free passes even if they gave them to me. I'm not one to refuse free stuff, but it's not even worth the hassle! I wasted a lot of time during a weekend with friends that I see 1-2 times per year waiting for 5 Star and do not want to repeat it. read more

This laundry service is both reliable and awesome. My roommate and I both use them, and although sending out all of your clothing may be a little scary, there is no need to be afraid with them. The same guy comes and gets your clothes and then drops them off basically whenever you want. There is no hassle, extra charges, or anything along those lines. I would recommend them to anyone,and using this service is definitely much better than sitting at a laundromat for over two hours. Five stars allll the way. read more

I didn't give one star because the clothes do come back clean and nicely folded. Unfortunately they seem to have a problem with consistency and timing. A couple of times they've delivered well outside of time window and today I waited an extra hour before calling to find out what happened. Turns out that they finally decided to enforce their rule about credit card payments being made ahead of delivery, even though I've always paid by credit card after delivery every time I've used these guys. Do I get the rule? Totally. Did I see it in the email? Absolutely. But why should I expect it to be enforced when it hasn't been before, and why didn't I get an email or phone call letting me know that my laundry wasn't being delivered as scheduled since I hadn't paid yet? The man I spoke with on the phone didn't seem to understand the problem, and has thus lost his company a customer. I'd rather haul my laundry around the corner than deal with this attitude and nonsense. read more

Let me start off by saying I despise doing laundry with a passion that runs deep!!! I'm the type that will let it pile up and then pick out the important things that I need to wash like my uniform for work. I will go out and buy new clothes just to avoid washing clothes. One day I was preparing my laundry because it was no longer an option to put it off and I was talking to a friend of mine and she suggested that I just send my clothes out to get washed. I have always been afraid of someone else washing my clothes; them getting stolen or damaged but on this day I said what the hell let me go for it. So I came to Yelp to see what type of reviews this place had and nothing scared me off so I went on-line and scheduled my time for pickup. The delivery guy came and carried my two big bags down three flights of stairs and my laundry was gone. Later in the afternoon I received the amount of my clothes and it was $83 and I gasped, that's a lot of money to spend on laundry but my laundry was 80lbs so I had to suck it up. When I got my laundry back I thought that, that was the best $83 that I have ever spent. I didn't have to lug two bags up three flights of stairs nor did I have to fold 80lbs of laundry. I am now a fan of sending out my laundry to be done. I am sure that I can look around and find a place that charges .65 cents a lb but I love the way that my clothes smell and were folded so I will spend the extra .15 cents for this service. read more

I love love love these guys. They are always prompt, if there is a change in delivery time they send me an email in advance. The delivery guy is always the same and he's totally friendly and pleasant. They have two hours windows for pick up - not as good as they used to with the one hour window, but still great - i've never had them come late or outside of the scheduled window. The same day service is fantastic. I've never had anything go missing, although i did on a single occasion end up with a tshirt that wasn't mine. Totally recommended. read more

I've used them for more than a year now 1x per week. They are really pleasant, the laundry is done really nicely and yes, they've had a few snafus on ordering times etc but then again, I've screwed up a few times too. Not paypal'd on time, forgot a pickup etc. I think it is a very small operation and they are honest and try to make it right. Overall, I kinda pull for these guys. I have been using 5 Star for about 3 years now and the my laundry is always clean and nicely folded. Another reviewer complained about the delivery time slot being a wide window, but I found that 5 Star works with me on the delivery time. I like to have a late delivery time (not in the early part of the window) and put that request in my order or let the driver know when they tell me my laundry is ready for delivery. I have used this service twice, and my laundry and dry cleaning is always *perfect.* They are always polite, and are even able to honor my request for pick up and delivery on the later end of the time frame-so I can make it to happy hour after work and still make it home to deal with laundry. THEY BURNED MY CLOTHES AND WON'T RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT!!! I used their laundry one time and have had a HORRIBLE experience with them. I had 3 bags of laundry (I'd just moved to the area) and had them pick it up and gave the delivery guy instructions to bleach some items and wash, press, and return my work shirts on hangars. I received 3 bags of clothes that were washed and folded including the shirts. I noticed a round burn mark on one white undershirt then saw one of my dress shirts (coincidentally my most expensive one) with the same round burns covering the sleeve. I tried to call after I found the burns and nobody answered and I then emailed 3 separate times and it took them over 10 days to even respond! I'm still arguing with them about getting some compensation for my shirt. Just find somebody else, pay the extra $.15 a pound for a place that stands behind their service, won't destroy your clothes and responds to customer grievances. read more
