REVIEW FOR FIVE NAPKIN BURGER # 2 Actually we thought we might have been being "punked"! We were greeted by and taken to our table by a very nice host. Our server was WONDERFUL. (Jose M.). We were excited for dinner as we have heard great things about 5N burger. With the warm greeting and very nice server , Jose, we thought we were set for a enjoyable dinner. We started with the guacamole and chips along with some crispy rice sushi appetizers. The apps arrived , we were hungry and started sharing. The table got quiet. Our entrees arrived and we started to eat. About 4 minutes into the entrees we all at the same time looked at each other and simultaneously said: "our we crazy or is this food inedible"!. Well we all burst out laughing and couldn't stop as it was that bad. The food was so awful that we agreed this night was what memories are made of. A great meal and a truly awful meal are both so memorable, it's a bonding experience. We continued laughing. We were in disbelief how bad the food was. When asked about dessert one of us almost did an involuntary spit take with water. We couldn't keep it together. Even the fountain soda was flat. We quickly got the bill. We made sure that Jose received a generous tip. He was wonderful and it's not his fault that the food was horrible. I don't use that word lightly. We ended the night telling each other about the worst meals we've ever had in any restaurant in the world. This was not my worst (it was the#2, literally and figuratively). This is a one napkin review. I came in here on Labor Day in the afternoon and the restaurant was less than half full. Order a classic cheeseburger, medium rare. It took them 45 minutes to deliver the food, only after I asked what was going on... the burger came, overcooked to the point there was not one drop of juice left in the meat. It had no tomato, and a tiny and pathetic piece of lettuce. The bun was so stale, it clanked on the plate. this is possibly the worst burger I've had in my entire life. It's been a while since I've had 5 Napkin Burger. I remember when there was a location near Union Square. I was in the mood for a burger and drink. I honestly wished that fries were included with the burger. I had the Bacon Cheddar Burger and it was well prepared and delicious. For drinks, I had the Pomegranate Margarita and Samuel Adams beer. I enjoyed the drinks and burger. The wings were on the salty side and the Truffle Parmesan fries were heavily drenched in truffle and parmesan. They can definitely scale back on the amount of parmesan and truffle they use. The server was very attentive and the restaurant was pretty quiet for a Thursday night. Popped into this burger spot on a Saturday around brunch time and didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant itself is quite spacious - we sat a booth which was very comfy and conducive to conversation. In terms of the menu, there was something for everyone - it seemed to be a mix of burgers and some Asian-inspired influence (sushi??). It was so creamy and delicious. For dinner, I had the classic cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese. I ordered it well done and they managed to cook it that way, but also managed to make sure it had a bit of that juice in the burger..it was quite delicious. The crinkle cut fries were fresh and tasty, with the perfect amount of salt. My boyfriend had their five napkin burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed. You have to order fries as a separate side of 5 dollars for the small, which I think is a bit overpriced when one of the burgers alone cost 21 bucks. When I used the restroom, it was a bit untidy.
