I actually still remember coming to this playground several times when I was a kid, and we would…read morealways go to Banana Split at some point during our time at the park. Earlier this year I had decided to bring my nephew to the playground here to play for a little while before celebrating the reopening of Banana Split for the season. Clearly the place has changed since I was a kid, with the playground being fairly new, but it stil-- in many ways--remains the same; it's small, very much a neighborhood type of park, not a city-wide mecca like Phillips Park, and very basic, with only a small playground, a few courts for basketball and tennis, and a nice expanse of open green lawn for running around or sitting in the sun. Again, it's not really like Phillips Park, which attracts people from all around Aurora and has a large property with many features, and is even smaller than the little play areas around Waubonsie Lake; and unlike Waubonsie Lake, there isn't a path for running, jogging, walking, or riding. However, it is perfect for someone who is near to it and is looking for a small, safe area for a little one to play in. I've been here four or five times this year since the spring with my nephew(s), and it's actually become one of my favorite little spots to take my nephew, fulfilling EXACTLY what I'm looking for. A small park with a small playground where my nephew has plenty of space to play and I only have a small area that I need to monitor. Parking is pretty easy, if not a little confusing at first; if you're coming off of Sheffer Road then turn left onto Sheridan and you'll find the little access road to the parking; if you're coming from Church Street then merge onto Sheridan, and if you're coming from Forest Street then it'll be right in front of you when you get to Sheridan. I can also say that the property is well maintained and very out-in-the-open so it feels very open and safe. I also have to say that having Banana Split right across the street is a pretty great selling point and makes the park more attractive. So if you're close by and need a great place for your little ones to run around and play, give this place a try, you may be pleasantly surprised by how much you like it; and if you don't enjoy your experience, you'll at least be able to salvage what's left of your excursion with a nice cold treat from across the street.

Had a pretty good time overall!…read more Great if you are a fan of claw games. We were able to win a couple of prizes. Also enjoyed the variety of Japanese rhythm games. The game floors were not over crowded and it wasn't too overwhelming inside. Lots of game options for any age or experience. The food was expensive for what it was. I have had worse, but the over priced for bowling alley items. Will give them points for having old fashioned nacho cheese from the machine and not the cups. The burgers were just ok. I feel like they could make a lot of improvements if they were not trying to be too many things. Are you a bowling alley? Are you a Japanese style arcade? Still more fun than DnB's.

Food: (5/10) We had fries and chicken tenders. They didn't have a lot of the options on the menu,…read moresadly. It was pricey for what we ordered but at least the fries and chicken were freshly fried and hot. Taste-wise, I don't expect much from a bowling alley but this was average. Basic. Nothing special. Bowling: (5/10) The bowling was a quick & fun time. I didn't love the selection of the bowling balls. Some sizes only had one option for the size of the finger holes. I didn't care for the portion of the bowling where they stop everyone's game to have everyone bowl at the same time to try and bowl a strike to win a paper crown. Arcade: (6/10) I had fun gaming w/my spouse but it was an average experience for an arcade. Most of the games don't give you many tickets. On average, every dollar you pay gets you 4.25 credits worth of gameplay and the cheapest game is 3.4 credits to play once. Most games are 10-11 credits per play. You can average anywhere around 30-34 tickets per game/play. For example, you could win 2 tickets or you could win 65. Depends on the game and how well you play. One game completely shut down during our gameplay and we didn't get any tickets. Another game also shut down on us on two separate occasions and we also didn't get tickets for those. It was credits wasted, which was not cool. Service: (2/10) I did not appriciate my interaction with the person who took my food order. He was rude. Ambiance: (5/10) It is expected for an arcade. Flashing lights & arcade noises. Reasonable. Nothing special or exciting. Arcade Card: $30 for 130 credits (if used wisely, you can play a decent amount of lower credited games). Only playing the lowest credited games, we had 1.5 hours of game play. There is a $2 activation fee if you are purchasing a card for the first time.

Fun spot to burn off some energy…read more Randomly have stopped by a few times midweek...when it is far less crowded and grabbed a Groupon to make it more affordable and for that price it's not bad at all. Sure certain areas are closed at certain times but while we are usually there they eventually open them up. Not had any issues. A lot of the equipment you can tell has been used pretty good, but just like with anything still should watch your littles at all times. I would try to avoid weekends if possible. Lots of parking. They have dot ice cream that isn't dippin but still good...so bonus!

The good: - Once your kids get the hang of the self-latch system, they'll be able to climb safely without close supervision. - There are lots and lots of climbing walls and some have unique features. It's very entertaining for climbers over 48". - They have a drinking fountain. - They have hand sanitizer dispensers. The bad: - Many areas were shut down. We couldn't do the ninja course because "something is leaking from the ceiling" in one of the areas. Some features on the climbing walls (like the wheel you turn to bring a trapeze thing closer to a ledge) are broken. - They are severely understaffed. When we visited on Monday, Aug. 11, the ropes course was only open for a few minutes, as was the wall-hang slide. Because those areas require employees and there weren't enough people to work them, they were closed off for the bulk of our visit. - It's a bit expensive. I feel like I'd pay the $30 per kid if they had access to everything, but between the broken attraction and the areas shut down because of staffing issues, the price felt steep. - There's not a lot of seating available if you're a parent who just wants to watch. There are a few benches, but you can't see large sections of Funtopia when you're sitting there. I was hoping to do some work on my laptop, but there were no tables near the benches. - If you leave, you cannot re-enter once you leave the building, so hunger may become an issue as outside food is not allowed. I'd love to come back here with my kids, but I hope they have enough staff to keep all the attractions running and I hope they fix the "something leaking" on the ninja course. I got the sense that this was a place run by teenagers and the owners may be absent or uninvolved.
