Loved it 2 years ago, but the menu has evolved into a weird selection of over-wrought offerings. Baked halloumi was just ok...too salty. Salad was good. Husband's burger (only thing he'd eat on the menu) was good but no option besides onion rings as a side. Too pricey for such limited and disappointing choices. Cold food and over priced. Wasted $300 on a cold dinner for a family of four. the only thing that the cooks got right was the dessert were cold!!!! Very good restaurant at a great mountain - Sugarloaf. My friend and I were there for the weekend staying at the Sugarloaf hotel. The restaurant is located within the hotel. We had a whipped feta cheese and beet appetizer. It was great. I had short ribs with sweet potato. One of the best I've had. My companion had the roasted chicken. He said it was equally good. Top it off with a glass or 2 of wine and it was a great meal. Breakfast is also great by the way. Enjoy. read more

If You're in sugarloaf you must come here even you don't stay at the hotel! First night we ordered from small plates mussels and fried Brussels sprouts and shared a burger. THESE ARE NOT SMALL PLATES! we had so much food and it was sooooooo delicious!!!!! Have not had such PLUMP MUSSELS IN A LONG TIME!!!! We went back tonight had another great meal! Had to have mussels again and the short ribs was delicious! the salad was fresh and also very good! i came here with my family to ski april break. we came later in the day so that's why it's empty. the menu looks great and the place has a great vibe to it. our waiter is really nice and so are the other staff. the appetizers and food are delicious! definitely recommend coming here after a long day of skiing. read more

The food was served basically cold and was also slow to come out. For how expensive it is, absolutely not worth the price. Even if it was hot, there is nothing special about it at all. Go to the Bag. Really disappointed, as the vibe of the restaurant was great. Also, our server had this "visor mask" contraption on her chin... It was such an absurd way to "have a mask on" - she should not be allowed to do that. There is 0 protection there, even if she was vaccinated, CDC guidelines still do not permit interaction with older folks. You work in the restaurant business, have respect for the guidelines placed. Having just bought a condo up in Carabasset, I will definitely never go here again and make sure to not recommend to friends and family. read more

I dont know what has happened to this place. My family and I used to love and look forward to going here several times over the season. While the ambiance hasn't change the food had gone down hill. When you easily spend 200+ for a family of four ( with drinks) to be serving what appears to be frozen patties and dry over cooked over salted meat dishes; it was so disappointing. We were there early in the evening only to be told they were out of more than one of the offerings on the menu. The service is slow. We had to ask for everything from water to condiments. For what is touted as the premiere sugarloaf restaurant it is now very disappointing. From seeing what others have post it appears this is now an ongoing issue. It will be a bit before we try it again. Hopefully they can get things straighten out. read more

If I could give it negative stars I would. They clearly had a lack of bartenders but the one they had definitely made you feel frantic and had to yell to get his attention. Food was not worth the irritation. Also had the added bonus of a local restaurant worker who was drunk and lingered with no seat and kept hitting me. We were up at Sugarloaf for the marathon. We are at 45 North 2 of our 3 nights. Both of us were very happy with our meals. The stuffed chicken was fantastic! The drinks were wonderful and the service was also wonderful. The menu is limited but I will definitely go again when back in town. read more

Romantic and ambient. The walls are made from wood collected from the Penobscot River (my favorite river). Jessica, our server, was awesome and was able to answer all of our questions. The wine menu is located on an iPad, and the best part of this is that you can pick and choose your wines by either varietals vs by the glass or bottle, and region. And the best part is being able to read up on your wines if you're not quite sure which ones you want to try. Our table tried out various items off the menu including Fried Cauliflower, Crisp Pork Belly, Maine Peekytoe Crab Deviled Eggs, Gnocchi Gratin, Mac & Cheese, Pork Ribeye, and the Chocolate & Geary's Stout Pudding. Every thing was delightful and well put together. Every bite I put in my mouth, I was impressed by and kept complimenting the chef. There wasn't anything we didn't like or had a complaint about. But if you can't decide what you want, definitely be sure to get the Crisp Pork Belly! You won't regret it! Trust me on this one. And you're welcome! I can't wait to try out the rest of the menu throughout this winter! Annnnnnd the best part is we found out that their kitchen closes at midnight, obviously not for all entrees, but they still have snacks/bites. Lisa is hands down one of the top servers I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. She is so personable, knowledgeable & witty. The charcuterie board was a home run & you can cut the fillet with a butter knife. Great selection of wines & spiced carrot cake was the cherry on top. It was a terrible experience , very disappointing. My roasted chicken, very small, tasted like sawdust, all dried out. There was water on the plate from the rice not being drained. I sent it back and ate half of my daughters hamburger with limp lettuce on it. I'll not return again. read more

I have WANTED to like 45 North. We have been there multiple times. So have my friends. The plus sides, it is clean, it is reasonably well decorated, it is at Sugarloaf. The food is decent. The drinks are good. So why the 1 star rating? It starts with service. The service is consistently the worse I have ever seen. Anywhere. Granted, the staff is not rude, but you have to actually be there to be rude. Getting a table: We have walked many times into a half empty restaurant looking for a table, only to be told they were reserved. When we found a spot at the bar and stayed, the restaurant remained half empty the entire night. Many times, we just walked back out. You have customers. No brainer, limit reservations, if they don't show in 10 minutes of the reservation, they lose the table. Slowwwwwww service, when there even is any service. Last visit we sat at the bar and wanted another drink, but the bartender did not show up again for over 45 minutes. The guy next to us just left without paying his bill because no one ever came back! I finally had to go to the host desk and ask if someone could please let us pay up so we could leave. Someone else took the check, we never saw the bartender again. This was not the first case of bad service here, just the best example. Whoever is running this place is losing money from customers that either can't get an empty seat or can't order drinks. On to the menu. The food is good, but after 3 years, it would be nice to see some change in the limited items on the menu. I mean, really...the same small menu every winter??? That is fine if you only come once a year, but if you are up at the loaf often, it gets very boring. Added to this, you pay top dollar to eat here. I expect overpriced in ski land, but I also expect good service...and if you are posing as a high end restaurant, I expect to see some change in the menu. Bottom line, if you want overpriced decent food on an Unchanging menu, don't mind waiting forever for service from staff that may just vanish for long periods of time, this is your place to eat at the Loaf...if you can find a seat. read more

50 min ticket for a 45N Burger and Grilled Chicken with Mashpotatoes. Burger came out lukewarm at Best, but the kicker was the Grilled chicken and Mashpotatoes...they were cold. There were only 5 other tables in the whole restaurant this evening so what excuse could there be for the wait and temperature the food arrived at? We sent the items back to be warmed up but still not even satisfactory for a $18 and $21 plate. Our poor server she really tried but in the end she just didn't charge us for the meals. Service is slow. Table next to us waited for so long without anyone coming to serve them that they just left. So you can expect to wait for a bit. Appetizers were brought out with the food- and they didn't bring out one of the entrees. Guess that person was expected to eat the appetizers? For the price you will pay it's just not worth it. Went to 45 north for a nice dinner, we had 7 o'clock reservations, arrived 5 minutes early. We were seated right away, but after 15-20 minutes, we still didn't have a waitress or a glass of water! Sean the bartender was awesome, I requested a Siracha Bloody Mary and that thing was soooo good. The food was great, our waiter Justin was so funny and laid back, there was no pressure. Excellent ambiance, excellent service, excellent food! My boyfriend and I went here for dinner during our stay at the mountain and were very happy with our meal. They sat us next to the window to watch the snow fall, mixed with the dim lighting and mountain feel, it made for a romantic dinner. We got the apple salad for starters that had a great dressing over the fresh greens. Our main course was cooked to perfection, the chicken was moist, green beans crunchy and the mashed potatoes were creamy. We finished our meals with apple cobbler that was equally as tasty as the rest of the dinner. The chef even came around to each table to chat with diners. This restaurant is over-rated and over-priced for what it is. It is a comfortable place with nice decor, but we have eaten there twice and had a mediocre experience both times. I think they are trying something new and are to be commended for that, but they are missing some important points. The salmon I had the first time was fine (although the egg sauce is bland and kind of weird) but the steaks we ordered were seriously over-cooked--they came out grey for a medium rare order. That's a basic thing that should be got right. I think the problem is kitchen-waitstaff coordination. On our second visit the Maitre D' curtly told us we had no reservation and that they could not accommodate us. I have been more politely treated as a walk-in at Alain Ducasse! We gently encouraged her to look again--whereupon she found our reservation, but without apology. Be that as it may, our waiter--a very nice guy, to be sure--wasn't able to explain what was in several of the dishes my wife asked about. No big deal, but it seemed sloppy, like when he served our wine in two different sized glasses out of the same bottle. Still tasted the same, but at $X per bottle? Come on, just wash another glass so you have a pair. The main complaint I had was about the pork I ordered. It was cooked perfectly but it very plainly had turned--it was really terrible and I could not eat it. Maybe you have had the joy of eating meat that has been frozen, thawed, and then re-frozen? That's what this tasted like. Could I have sent it back? Well sure but who wants to do that when you are most of the way through a meal--it crushes your good time and everyone else's. So I just pushed it to the side and ate the rest. The salad was good and there are other bright spots. A bad piece of meat like that is not a big deal if you are eating at a place that costs half as much. But the sum of all of these experiences bothered me enough so I felt I needed to write a review. Sorry for the length of it, but I felt you ought to know before you go. I hope that 45 North can refocus more on getting the details right and less on the innovative coffee-rubbed menu. Simpler food prepared properly, served by knowledgeable waitstaff, will make this place the go-to spot on the mountain. They are not there yet. read more

Went there with my girlfriend for valentines dinner hoping for a romantic atmosphere and nice service. Although our waitress was nice, she didn't fill our waters once and she didn't give a good suggestion on the food. The worst part is that the food is way overpriced for just regular food you can get anywhere, and my girlfriends chicken was pink and bloody... The chef came out saying that this is the way they cook their chicken, but I don't buy that. The chicken was raw..
