Best restaurant in BG. Terrific ambiance and a delicious menu. Somewhat pricey but the nice, classy, formal setting makes this a very special dining experience. If you are in town on Easter or Mother's Day, the buffet is amazing but you might want a reservation. I am also a big fan of Miki's restaurant-- connected to 440. It has a classic, more casual, old bar atmosphere. They're specials or something I really look forward to but when they're not available I return to the Old faithful!! Went to Micki's last night and had a great meal and drinks with my wife and her friend who's in town for the weekend. I had the pork chop, and it was fantastic. My wife had the crab cakes, she was really happy with that and her friend had a very well prepared filet mignon au poivre. Her steak was ordered rare and it was perfectly cooked. We each had a signature drink for the first drink, most of the signature drinks are in the sweeter side. They do have burgers and sandwiches and such, but you can order from the 440 menu that is connected, and we were there for my wife's birthday so we went for the upscale fare. We have sat down in 440 as well. The difference in atmosphere is pretty drastic, but we really enjoyed both. read more

This was our first visit to Bowling Green, and we decided to go to Mickey's on Main. The ambience was perfect, the menu had great options, and the drinks were fantastic. Our kids (ages 12 and 9) both loved the appetizer, fried burrata, as did the adults. We all loved our meals. The 12 yr old and my husband ordered the filet au poivre and the 9yr old, the cheddar burger. They all gave rave reviews. I had the Chorizo stuffed chicken with grits, and it was amazing. Driving around downtown we spotted this place. I'm glad we chose the fancier side, the AC is better and it's quieter. It was Friday so we both got the grouper. It was the best generous piece of fish with a delicious, crunchy breading. I wish I could have eaten the whole thing. But this idiotic trend of piling all the food on top of each other for a look, in this case entouffee, just gave it a soggy middle, ruining any crunch. Note order everything separated. The short version: excellent service, excellent and creative food! The longer version: this was the second time my wife and I visited 440 Main- the first time was exactly 2 years ago when we were in town for the 1st annual Tri-Five Chevy show, and we liked it so much that time we tracked it down for our return trip. Our server tonight was Shannon, and he was very knowledgeable in helping us with our selections, and also very attentive without being at all intrusive. My wife enjoyed her two glasses of red wine, and I liked the Cherry Cyclone I picked out to satisfy my mixed drink sweet tooth; in addition we shared Bourbon flight. For appetizers we chose the Barbecue Shrimp as well as the very-limited seasonal Fried Green Tomatoes. Both did not disappoint. Coming up from the Southeast we are used to New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp so this was an interesting new version for us to try - very flavorful! The Fried Green Tomatoes were more up my alley compared to my wife since she is not a fan of fried foods typically but we both agreed they were well-executed for what they were (and lightly fried without a heavy coating). The Spinach Salad with roasted pecans was tasty - and that is coming from a guy that hates pecans! For the main course, we shared the Ono Fish special - something neither my wife nor I tried before....absolutely delicious! I think my wife nearly licked the plate clean, LOL. Presentation was beautiful, and the vegetables (including beet greens - who knew?) and sauce were very flavorful. The building and ambiance is neat because it is in a historical old building -which Shannon provided some history trivia for. The restaurant side has s classy vibe and the bar side is more laid back - so they can probably accommodate just about any customer between the two. 440 Main will definitely be on our list when we come back to Bowling Green again! read more

Ambiance is unique for a downtown square with history. Service was slow. Took over 30 minutes to get wine on the table. Took almost 45 minutes to get salads on the table. Caesar salad came with no croutons or pepper. No offer of salt & pepper - had to ask for it. Ordered steaks medium rare - came out medium well. Not once were we asked if they were cook to our liking. As one of the nicer places in Bowling Green, I had been wanting to try this place out for a while. I wasn't disappointed, but neither was I impressed. The decorations are kinda some weird greco-roman style, but the building itself is very nice. I like that they make a point of decorating according to the season, but otherwise the atmosphere is kinda strange. Food is pretty good, but nothing too exciting or special. I assume this is necessary for Bowling Green where the average clientele is not looking for anything exciting or special, but I would have enjoyed more memorable food for what we paid. The drink menu is very unique, however. Lots of unique and bizarre cocktails that you will likely not see elsewhere. In the future I will skip the restaurant and just go to the bar. Also a huge plus is the bourbon flights which allow you to sample a wide range of KY bourbon from the bar. read more

The both are connected but both 100% different vibes. At 440 main The girl at the working the front was beautiful. The manager was great and extremely accommodating. The service was very good. She was patient with us. We started off with some drinks and a bottle of wine. The wine was good they brought a chiller out to keep it cold. I had a double shot of grey goose. For the appetizers we ordered the charcuterie board and something with fresh mozzarella. The charcuterie was fantastic. Apparently it comes from a local farm in the area. For my dinner I ordered the halved chicken. It was 100% organically grown from a local farm in the area. I eat all over the country. This chicken was amazing. It was cooked to perfection. Fell off the bone. It was the most elegant perfect chicken I had had all year no lie. It had this white bechemal sauce and this bacon topping. There were black beans on the side. When I come back here I'm defiantly ordering that chicken again!! Also we got the crab cakes. They were very big. For a meal I don't know if I could finish the crab cake plate. They were very good. While the food is still very good and the servers are excellent, the new management has a lot to learn about customer service. We got to 440 about an hour before they closed, no one even cared. The staff so was kind and polite. Our server asked right away if we were celebrating anything and my husband told her it was our anniversary! At the end of the meal she brought out a complimentary cheesecake!! How sweet! With all of this covid, we literally haven't left our house in months so we were a little concerned about how things would be. They were set up so well! Great place! My wife & I took my parents there for dinner when they were in town a few weeks ago. Called for reservations the day before, no problem. Then we were running late. Called to let them know, no problem & they delayed the reservation for 45 minutes. We arrived, and were seated immediately. WOW! We already had an idea what we wanted by looking at the menu online, but then the waiter discussed the daily specials. I changed to the veal and my dad had the swordfish. For apps, we had the deviled eggs and the barbeque shrimp. The top-shelf bourbon selection really interested my dad. Mom had the best Manhattan she has had in a long time. Lovely warm day and the tables on the sidewalk were so inviting it being lunch time , awnings were out, fans on and a musician playing guitar making a beautiful day really gorgeous! Our dog lay down, we perused the cocktail menu and after tasting samples ordered local draught beers and were not disappointed. Kentucky may be south to some, but it's not the Deep South, so the question was, should we order grits and shrimp? Did we order it, YES, and it was delicious, with a hint of heat. And a pulled pork bar-b-que sandwich. in the Carolinas (my favorite) it's in a vinegar based sauce with slaw, in Texas it's a brown sauce, so to be sure about what I was getting, I asked about it and the attentive, pleasant waitress said it was different and good, "ordered it with fries". The bar-g-que was not good, it was super good, so different, no brown sauce, possibly a hint of vinegar, delicious and well worth stopping in Bowling Green to get! 440 main has another section on the left called Micki's. 2 restaurants in one place. I was recommended by a friend to try Taco tuesday. They have 3 different tacos on menu (Chicken/Shrimp/BBQ pork). We ordered all 3 (4.99 each) and margaritas were on specials for 3 bucks. Total bill was around 20 bucks. I liked the chicken and shrimp tacos. chicken tacos were the bomb. Definitely will return.
