We Had an amazing experience last night. I was the only vegan and Anna had Chef Jeff personally come out to offer a handful of ideas to make my vegan night as excellent as my oyster, filet and flounder eating comrades. I said "surprise me" and he and the team did so and also were highly impressive. I was presented with a Most delicious and flavorful cauliflower mushroom étouffée with a touch of heat that reminded me of my college days in naw'lins. Went to 44 Prime to celebrate mine and my father's birthdays. The ambiance and service were top notch. We ordered the calamari and octopus appetizers. The calamari was fantastic and the octopus was very good. It could have benefited from some acid to brighten it up a bit. We all ordered steaks which were good but a little salty. My husband ordered fries with his meal. They were so salty that they were almost inedible. I would have sent them back. Overall the meal was very good, but could have been great. We visited recently with a group of coworkers. We congregated in the bar while our table was prepared. I enjoyed discussing drink options with the bartender but I failed to get his name. Ultimately, I chose a Blitz. It was prepared with Tito's vodka and a blueberry flavoring. It was light and refreshing. We were seated in a very nicely decorated dining room and Grace told us about the appetizers and we decided on the calamari, meatballs, and steak fat fries. All were nicely plated and delicious. The calamari was my favorite. I chose the crab and lemon sauce pasta, my husband chose the lamb shank, and another friend chose the pork belly. They all came out beautifully plated. I think of the 3 dishes the pork belly was the most popular. My pasta and my husband's lamb shank looked beautiful and were cooked appropriately but were lacking in the seasoning department. Very nice place with lighting that was easy on the eyes but not too dark. Very intimate setting. Bartender hooked me up with the first drink the $16 "Walk Off" which was pretty good. Got the $18 shrimp cocktail that came with 5 big shrimp which were delicious. Would definitely get those again. Then got the side size of their caser salad which was tasty and would get again. Best part had to be the showcasing of wine. Got to see their selection up close and pick an exclusive $85 bottle of Bella gros, great experience and truly enhanced the dinner. $49 14oz ribeye was cooked perfect medium, seasoned perfectly along with the mushrooms well worth it. My date had the same steak with potatoes au gratin that were approaching being too rich tasting but overall really good. We also got the $27 ala carte lobster Mac and cheese that was very good. Another reviewer mentioned Bern's and said 44 Prime was equivalent. Not quite- the steaks are good but not at the same level as Bern's. We ordered two filets which were solid but the ribeye left a little to be desired (heavily salted) and nothing above average as far as the quality of the meat. For $49 I expected more. The calamari was delicious, the ahi tuna was good, and so was the black bass. Steaks were cooked as requested and the service was great. The ambience is different but unique. Our table (which was two silver tables put together) was very wobbly. I couldn't give it five stars - for the money I spent I expected outstanding and it was above average. read more

My mom and I split one of the filets and it was below average. Didn't have a whole lot of juice and could benefit from more seasoning. Got a side Caesar salad and it tasted fine although they chop the salad up way too much so it takes awhile to actually eat. This is our 3 trip visiting Starkville for our sick dog needing to be treated by MSU Veterinary Specialty Center. Today is also happen to be my wife birthday so I wanted to treat her to a nice fancy Steak & Seafood dinner and I found 44 Prime and though that the menu was very fancy and interesting. Normally in previous trip we would often go to Harvey's for steaks. Due to having a sick dog that needs constant observation and supervision we couldn't dine-in so I decided to order take out. From the menu I selected the Seafood Tower because it includes a varieties of seafood like Snow Crab, Blue Crab, Oyster, Shrimp Cocktail, and most important a Lobster Tail which is really the main reason for selecting this for my Wife to enjoy. and ofcourse a nice 18oz Ribeye Steak. When I place the order, I was informed that unfortunately the restaurant cannot offer the Seafood Tower for take-out, which to me was understandable, so we were given option to get the Snow Crab & Shrimp Cocktails instead, which I thought was reasonable given the situation. When we got back to the hotel, we then found out that we didn't get the Snow Crabs, instead we got a bunch of Blue Crab Claws which was very disappointing. The Steaks turn out great but we felt like we were ripped off for the price we paid and did not get the Snow Crabs as ordered. Even though it is MSU graduation week, and the restaurant was completely booked, we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The bartender, Ryan, could not have been more phenomenal. We started with the calamari appetizer, and it was delicious. The chili sauce on top of the tempura batter and large pieces of calamari were to die for.
