They told us our room was ready and then they changed their mind and said it wasn't ready and that we had to wait a half hour and we should go to the tiki bar when we tried to get couldn't because we didn't have a room key yet my needed a computer charger. They told us no problem. They'd have one sent to our room, but that never happened when we did get into the tiki bar we ordered mahi tacos and were given pork. we asked our waitress to charge our the room, she said she could not do that. The pool was wonderful. The hot tub was nice. The view of the lake was remarkable. The rooms were very comfortable. We got to see deer right outside our window. We were celebrating our 36th anniversary we checked in on Monday night. We wanted to have dinner at the boat club. They told us there was one table available. I was so excited until she came back and told me sorry we are completely full. I asked I could change the time of my reservation and she said no only two servers tonight and they could not squeeze one more table. That was a huge disappointment for us because that's why we chose the place.

Shayla, our host, texted us ahead of time to make sure we were all set for a smooth check-in. That small gesture alone made us feel genuinely cared for. Each day, Shayla prepared the most delicious homemade baked goods, which made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Since we planned to head to Glacier National Park early each day, she kindly packed to-go breakfasts for us--always thoughtful, fresh, and satisfying. On the mornings we stayed in, she served beautiful homemade breakfasts that were just as delicious. The extra touches throughout the lodge made our stay even more special--the self-serve charcuterie, fresh fruit, and beverages were such a nice bonus. The lodge itself was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. We stayed for five nights and can confidently say this was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. The plate came with 4 overcooked ribs in a runny bordelaise sauce, goat cheese risotto (which was undercooked and under-seasoned), and tarragon carrots (also undercooked). After eating a bit, I ended up boxing up my dish and taking it back to my air bnb, where I seasoned and finished cooking up my sides and made a makeshift red wine reduction sauce.

Unfortunately the good people of Kalispell are super bored and driving past this hotel on Friday nights 30 times without a muffler on their car and blasting bad music is their idea of a good time on a Friday night. The same cars and motorcycles drive the same five blocks and then turn around and do it over and over and over. If you're going to Glacier National Park and looking for a nice place to sleep and get dinner and drinks, go to Whitefish. Whitefish is close to the airport too and has cute stores, good local hiking and apparently a classier group of local residents. This hotel isn't built to provide a comfortable experience for guests, at least not on Fridays.

The hotel itself is a 2 star experience but once you factor in staff services it's a 1 star. The remodel was half hearted and I'll bullet point all my problems with this one night stay in an Executive Room. - Parking fee is $12, website says $10 - Room descriptions inaccurate including bed types and number of TVs. - Odd dirty smell in room and bathroom - No clock, drapes, iron or board, coffee pot, safe, closet, dresser or any type of hanging racking for clothes in room. - Shower floor not level, resulting in water pooling to one corner where it stayed all night. This might explain odd, dirty smell. - Moth inside sheets of king bed, discovered at bed time after pulling sheets back. - No sheets on sofa bed or anywhere in room. Asked front desk for sheets when headed out for dinner, they offered to have housekeeping put sheets on but we declined and asked to get them upon my return. Housekeeping entered room anyway even with do not disturb on door. - TV didn't work nor did telephone when I tried calling down for tech support. - Walk downstairs to ask about TV, given instructions how to reset box but even that didn't work. Asked to move rooms but they were booked up. When I asked for discount, they offered $25 off a $350 rate. I asked for larger discount but was told manager must approve and they'd follow up with me but no one did and no discount provided at all. Later front desk clerk came to room, unplugged and plugged in new cords to get TV working. - Thin walls and windows, heard traffic and drunks leaving the bar across street late into the night and if it's a Wednesday morning you'll hear a dump truck at 6:20am. Through all this never even an apology from any staffer.

Yet after all those years and all those travels, I can honestly say I have never stayed at an inn that made me feel quite as welcomed, cared for and completely spoiled as Garden Wall Inn in Whitefish, Montana. The inn itself is beautiful - elegant while remaining cozy and welcoming, intimate, impeccably appointed and filled with all the details that make a place feel truly special. But what sets Garden Wall Inn apart is something much harder to describe and even harder to find: the extraordinary care behind absolutely everything. Nothing feels routine. My glass of wine was beautifully presented on a silver tray. There is a wonderful selection of pillows, excellent lighting, lovely linens and chocolates waiting at bedtime. Beautiful china and silver turn breakfast into an occasion. And those breakfasts! Local fruits and yogurts, the owners incredible baking and one delicious surprise after another, all beautifully prepared and presented. I may have come home a pound or two heavier, but every single ounce was worth it! Even our departure was made special. We were given fabulous travel breakfasts in beautiful bags, complete with personal notes signed by our hosts. It was such a small and gracious gesture, yet it perfectly captured what makes Garden Wall Inn so extraordinary: they think of the things you would never think to ask for. But the greatest luxury here isn't something you can photograph. It's the hospitality! There is a genuine warmth and generosity at Garden Wall Inn that cannot be manufactured or taught. You are not simply given a beautiful room and a wonderful breakfast - you are welcomed, looked after and made to feel that your stay truly matters. The location is wonderful bc it's only 20 minutes from the West Glacier park entrance and tons of nearby hiking as well as the towns of Whitefish and Kalispell which have tons of shopping, dining, and adventure in winter and summer. It's also close to some things in the smaller town of Columbia where it is located like Montana Coffee Traders which you can actually just walk to from the hotel and Cowgirl coffee. There are also gas stations and other shops nearby if you need a few things. The gal at check-in was amazing and kind and had our room ready for us with my third floor request checked in despite our super late check-in (11pm) and they were always happy and greeted us kindly when we came and went. There is a small (2 washers and 2 dryers) laundry room on the 2nd floor where you can wash your clothes. They're old and only have like 2 settings but if your things are funky after long hikes like ours, it's a lifesaver. They sell detergent and dryer sheets in a pack for $2 at the lobby. Prices are extremely fair for this nearby location to the park and for the amenities provided and size of the room. Note: I took a star away bc we stayed four days and they absolutely refused to do a room refresh. At day two I asked to have towels and trash taken care of and was told that we could put the trash outside the room and they would leave fresh towels in a shopping bag by our door. What?! I've been traveling a lot and they're milking the COVID thing for all it is worth. 4 days in a hotel is a long time to have no cleaning whatsoever. I understand every other day, or upon request, but that was a bit much and I didn't like it. Hire the staff, go back to cleaning rooms. We spent two weeks on this trip and this was the only hotel that pulled this crap.

It is an airport hotel, but you would never guess it. It is about a three minute drive from the hotel. Don't worry about the airplane noise. You can't hear anything. The hotel is so charming and cute. The staff is excellent. They picked us up from the airport at midnight. All you have to do is call them and they show up within a few minutes. They also can drop you off.. Check in was super easy and fast. When we were dropped off they already had our keys and paperwork ready and all we had to do was sign. The room: clean. Spacious. We had a double bed. The room was equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave. The restroom was big. Toiletries include a shampoo conditioner and lotion. The towels were super soft. The water pressure was poor, but manageable. The AC worked well. There was always hot water. Extras: they have coffee and tea in the lobby 24/7. They also had cookies. They have a laundry room and it cost $2.25 to use the washer and/or dryer. The pool is inside and there is a small slide. They also have a small gym. Breakfast. Continental. You can expect hot food selections such as scrambled eggs, potatoes, a protein, oatmeal, and waffles. Cold selections include cereal and yogurt. The only thing I noticed is that they don't replenish some of the items. For example, they ran out of oatmeal and when we asked if they could make more, they said that they could give us instant instead. Which is OK. They also have fresh fruit. Parking is free onsite.
