    Chicken fried steak
    Dennis C.

I have passed by this diner for years. My wife and I decided to stop today and what a great decision. We left there stuffed. The portions were giant. The service was great. The decor was through back not 60's but country homey. The chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes was out of this world! The mile hike turkey dinner was enough for 2. The soup and salad was fresh and very flavorful. I recommend this hidden gem I'm sure the locals all know about it. If your ever in court land Ohio around breakfast lunch or dinner make a stop here you will not be disappointed. Our whole bill was under 40 dollars.

    Corn beef hash

Visiting from Oregon. This Portland foodie recommends the corn beef hash --- is tasty delish for breakfast. Beyond expect-tastins! My brother took me over for breakfast with a few other pals. Diner has a good vibe for chit chat. Grub right on. Excellent service.

Great food and amazing service. Loved how it felt like home! The pricing was fair and I hope to visit again soon!

    Chicken Salad Croissant

Follows the spirit of a family diner. Things are just as expected. Good home style meals at a good price. Staff is friendly and take good care of you. For dinner I recommend the Friday fish fry. And Lunch the Chicken Salad on Croissant. Both come with their awesome breaded French Fries.

The gyro sandwich is delicious. Service was good and prices and selection good! Decor a little dated.

I don't remember the name of it but had the chicken salad with cranberries and walnuts, it's huge.

Fred's Diner is a sparkling diamond of a place that so many locals I mentioned it to were still…read moreunaware of. That's mostly due to location. It's less than a 10 minute drive from downtown Akron but it's off the beaten path. All locals (except me) in here. When I went (10AM Friday) the place was almost full, and I was dining alone, so I sat at the counter, happily next to the kitchen. To look at the kitchen was like looking inside a bee hive, bustling with activity but barely a sound. I could just make out what was being calmly stated "2 Silver Dollar, Salmon, Country Fried, 2 Over Easy..." It was fun to watch, but what was important was the output. It took just over 6 minutes from the time I order until it was sitting in front of me, and everything was perfect! The waitresses were so efficient. I saw my order hit the window and in about 12 seconds it was delivered. They were so customer focused, they were (jokingly) fighting over refilling my tea. When I was done and paid for I waited outside for Uber to pick me up (3 min). I looked back on what I'd just experienced, and snapped a picture of the two parking lots of cars for Fred's Diner. I counted and there were 32 cars at Fred's. OK maybe 10 were staff so 22 cars for customers, let's say on average there were 2 customers per car (remember I walked here so no car for me). By my calculation, Fred's was feeding 44 people every 30 minutes or so. No wonder they're only open 4 days a week and only for breakfast - lunch. I calculate they might serve 3200 meals in those 4 days, and then take 3 days off to get ready for the next week. I love this place. Wish I lived here so I could come more often.

My daughter and I both had off today, so we decided to hit up Fred's for breakfast. I had a craving…read morefor steak and eggs and she went with the corned beef hash. Both plates were very good. I particularly appreciate that they use real potatoes for their hashbrowns, not the frozen/freeze dried crap most places serve up these days. The service was great, coffee was strong, and our bellies are fullllll.

The establishment is small but comfortable and clean! The Prices are great. We had 2 meals for $20. We had the Yuengling beer battered fish with homemade green beans(with butter on them) ,homemade mashed potato's, brown gravy, and home made chunky apple sauce! Delicious! And the tuna melt sandwich was delicious but the best part were the seasoned French fries. It was awesome to have actual home made food! You could tell it hadn't been frozen, thawed out, warmed and served to us. And they still kept the prices affordable! We will definitely go back! The service and wait staff is not the warmest and friendliest...but they get the job done and kept our glasses full while we chowed down!

I took two bites of my omelet, went to take the third and discovered a very long black hair coming out of the center of it. Waitress never came back to check on refills for coffee. Just a very bad experience. I'm under the impression it has more locals than tourists. I rely on reviews, this is why we selected this establishment.
