They take your order at counter, self serve seating. They have inside and outside seating, we sat outside "traffic is super noisy" recommend sitting inside. The inside looks... well.... For lack of a better word..... sterile. I ordered the Birria burrito: The size was average, I felt it was overpriced for what they give you. The burrito was Super, SUPER oily, I mean, Exxon Valdez oily "see pictures" and its flavor I found lacking $17.00 2 stars. Salmon with scrambled egg: I felt that the salmon and egg toast was priced way better than the Birria burrito. While it looked amazing, the Salmon tasted fishy, old, and parts of the toast was rock hard $17.50 2 stars. Tatter tots: The Tots IMO were very good, not oily at all and a $6.50 price point I felt was a reasonable price, 4 stars. Double espresso: Bitter but not in a good way, the taste was weak "not rich" no body at all $4.50 2 stars tops. Total bill for said items $50.05 tip not included.

In this case, one of these spots is Arisan. Since Matcha has exploded in popularity to my annoyance, (I say this because I was into Matcha before it started trending), I had to try. Once inside, everything looks aesthetically pleasing with seating on either side up against the walls. The layout is clean and non cluttered which I can appreciate from a design standpoint. The menu is clearly displayed on the countertop and it's nice to see that you still have an actual person to take your order. No iPad ordering here. Please keep it that way! I also loved the high ceilings and bright light from the floor to ceiling windows in the front. As you look to the right, you can also see all the Arisan branded products including canvas tote bags and loose leaf tea canisters lining the wall shelves. Nice touch. Now let's get to the good stuff. They specifically told me about one drink that was so unique and refreshing. Which drink was it? **Matcha Cloud Coconut Water $8.95- 100% fresh young coconut water + Matcha cream: This drink was so unique because the coconut water was so distinct and refreshing. The Matcha cream sat on top before slowly trickling down to mix in with the coconut water. I would have never thought to put these 2 flavors together. It was delicious especially on a day where it was 97 degrees here in SJ.

Looking at their menu online, I do not see an option to simply have Matcha over ice with water. So at the counter, I ask the gentleman who was super polite and professional for matcha and water and he started suggesting alternatives with creme or other sweeteners etc. I said "hey I'm just trying to be healthy and not have any sugar, can I just get matcha and water and you can charge me whatever you like" the worker was completely baffled, turns around and asks, who I think was a boss, behind him, "can we just do matcha and water?" The manager with eyes of confusion is literally facing me but won't acknowledge me as I politely say "just looking for straight matcha and water, you can charge me whatever" the manager who never makes eye contact, ignores me like I'm invisible then tells his worker "oh no we can't do that" ...the polite worker turns back to me like I couldn't hear it and true to form like a Dilbert cartoon, smiles and says "oh I'm sorry we can't do that"... so I just said, okay and walked out... I get that I'm rare. I get that 95% of people want matcha with milk, cream, sugar, this/that but am I in an alternate universe??? Why is this so difficult?! I've beem too many places who serve Matcha-canos, matcha over ice with sparking water, flat water... I didn't even get to the stage of asking them to put it in my yeti rather than a plastic cup! There has to be more people like me who simply want Matcha and its health benefits without sweeteners and other stuff?!

I need to go back because everything I ordered was iced and I want to try some of the hot drinks. The banana bourbon latte was good, I wish it had maybe a more pronounced banana flavor and that the bourbon came through more. But the oat milk and the coffee were so smooth and luxurious that it made the experience enjoyable. Important note: with Mitsua market and the busy food areas there, this plaza gets incredibly busy! It's not the best parking situation, so know that ahead of time.

We ordered a Cortado and the Honey Sea Salt Latte -- both were excellent. The espresso was rich, smooth, and perfectly pulled, which really showed in both drinks. The honey sea salt latte had a really nice balance of sweet and savory that wasn't overly sweet. We also got a croissant, which was flaky and delicious. They clearly have strong breakfast options overall -- the cheesy toast pictured on their page looked amazing too. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. This is a great spot for quality coffee and solid breakfast food. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of their flavored drinks and breakfast toasts. Highly recommend!

It is a bit on the pricier side, and could argue it's more of a dessert coffee, but they have so much to choose from to fit your need. The workers here are very friendly and are fun fyp talk to. The shop itself is on the small side, with a couple tables for indoor seating and no outdoor seating. The interior boasts a curious modern-industrial vibe that I found pleasant and unique. Though I was lucky enough to grab a good spot, this isn't a prime study location--there aren't many outlets, they close at 5 (so not ideal for 9-to-5ers) and the seating is a little limited. That said, there is free WiFi and bathroom access, so if you have a well-charged laptop and a bit of luck, it's not a bad pick. Their offerings include a mid-sized array of espresso-based and tea-based drinks alongside a small selection of pastries. Though the pastries looked decent, I abstained in favor of the black sesame latte, which I liked a lot. The black sesame cream top is very delicious, though once it settles into the drink it can get a bit grainy with the coarser bits of black sesame. I really liked that it wasn't too sweet, but I wish the espresso was stronger. The drinks are on the somewhat pricier side at $7-$8 (though it feels as though I'm seeing this price range very often these days), and I feel that it is just on the cusp of being a little too much for what I am getting. While the drinks are fun and pretty good, the coffee itself doesn't stand out a ton. I definitely need to try more drinks to form a more cohesive opinion, though. Overall, it's a pretty solid spot, and they offer a fun array of some more standard café offerings alongside some unique signature and special crafted drinks. They did get my name wrong (even after I spelled it out for them), but other than that, the service was friendly and fast. I'll definitely swing by again if I can find the time.

With some coffees a second cup will give me a stomach ache (especially since I drink my cold brews black and bitter like my soul), but I had no problems with their cold brews! I also got the vegan stonefruit scone (baked by Sweet Dragon) and while a little on the dry side (common with scones), paired extremely well with the coffee and had good flavor. Husband got a cappuccino and a strawberry mini pie and was extremely pleased with his order. The service is friendly, but some things may have been new on the day we went. They almost forgot my cold brew until we asked at the counter, as well as stating that they didn't have anything to heat up my husband's strawberry pie (which seems odd, since a little toaster oven seems like a simple fix for that), but apparently it was fantastic at room temperature anyway. Seating was absolutely full when we got there and we were lucky to snag a table as another couple left, so it seems like a popular Saturday morning spot. Several folks were working on laptops, and it seems like a kid-friendly place. The decor is a clean and modern/trendy industrial style, which works well for the space, and the windows provide nice daylight. Overall, a good coffee shop and I am really happy to see vegan pastry options! My husband is getting into pinball, which was part of the motivation to come out and try Chromatic, so I am sure we'll be back again next time he wants to hit up Slingshot (in the same building), and I look forward to the coffee and treats!

The seating area is quite limited for the large crowd it attracts, making the atmosphere inside feel a bit chaotic at peak times. Fortunately, the baristas are super polite and work fast, keeping the long lines moving efficiently. The coffee menu and the retail bean selection are both impressive. I decided to try a dulce de leche coffee. While I was expecting a strong caramel profile of dulce de leche, the flavor turned out to be fairly subtle rather than prominent. It added a significant sweetness, but without knowing the order beforehand, identifying the exact flavor would have been tough. That said, the coffee itself was still refreshing The high quality of the coffee bean really shone through, delivering a rich aroma and the ideal caffeine kick for a breezy morning. Great coffee beans and fast service make it worth dropping in, even if the indoor seating situation is a bit tight.
