    Margarita on the rocks
    Steven T.

This was a random lunch spot from my list of bookmarks because I wanted a cocktail, margarita and some Mexican food. This part of town has so many real Mexican restaurants and if you want to skip the chains like me than just come to this area and pick a place because most places in this area are decent. With C19 the dining room was empty so I opted for the bar where people were socializing and eating. I started with a margarita on the rocks because I didn't want a brain freeze and I was served chips and sals. The chips are unique because they were warm and puffy with two sides and fresh/crispy. The salsa is not chunky but I liked it because it was hot and it kept me eating more chips than I wanted. The menu is surprisingly reasonable I noticed and it has all the usual suspects but I was going to order an al pastor burrito with a side of rice and beans when my server suggested the burrito dinner which is three mini burritos that I could have any meat in with rice and beans, $8 dinner is reasonable. The description small flour tortilla wrapped around meat so not a burrito at all so I asked for cilantro and onion and al pastor, asada and barbacoa which is pork, steak and shredded beef. I sampled all the meats by them self and the barbacoa had the best flavor followed by the al pastor and then the steak which had a nice beef flavor and seasoned nicely, I actually liked all the meats. With the cilantro and onion and topped with the sour cream the mini burritos were pretty good. The rice and beans were average and did the job. Overall my lunch was very enjoyable and very reasonable @ $15 for chips/salsa, dinner plate and a margarita with great service. I have to remember to go back for a full size barboca burrito.

If you are looking for reliable, satisfying, and enjoyable service and food experience, then Tres Hermanos is the place to go! Every time I have visited here it has left me nothing short of a loss for words because of how delicious the food is... and how full of a belly I have from scarfing it all down leaving no crumb behind. Great environment for big groups along with smaller groups. The patio set up in the summer is to die for. GET HERE ASAP

This is one of the usual spots we go to for group lunches during work. They are always prompt with getting the food served quickly due to limited time to eat. Pretty similar to most Mexican restaurants in the area. Food is decent, service is good. I'd give it 3.5 stars, half stars should be a thing on yelp...

I have been going here( mostly the old location on National) with my Dad since I was 4 yrs old and the food has always been phenomenal! Hands down the best& most authentic Mexican food in Milwaukee! I don't even know where to start when suggesting dishes because they are all amazing! I'll first start with the chips and salsa, the chips are homemade and to die for and their salsa is something I crave regularly! It's some of the freshest, yet spiciest salsa I've ever found in Milwaukee. Main dishes? I suggest if it's your first time you try anything with the al pastor( seasoned crispy pork) not only are they one of the only places around that offer this traditional meat as an option but it is also the best taco/ enchilada filling you will ever experience, period! Then once you've experienced this amazing- ness I suggest you try their shrimp ceviche. It's the freshest most authentic tasting ceviche around and they top it with some of the freshest avocados I've ever seen a restaurant use! Also to note as amazing is their caldo de pescado(fish soup) I know this sounds peculiar to some, but it's an amazingly flavorful soup that is sure to clear up any sinus issues you're having. It's cured me of many a cold! I sincerely love this place and continue to travel here even though I now live on the East Side. There are so many over priced kitschy places over here, that I wish people would stop supporting. I've sat for over a half hour in traffic to come to Tres because it is simply the best & the prices are ridiculously cheap for the exquisite quality of food!

Tortillas were crispy and fried to perfection. The consommé was delicious, had me drinking it straight out the cup and was well seasoned, hot, and was in its own something to right about. The red and green salsas were also good. Red having a bit of kick, green was flavorful. I will say that I wish one of them had more heat to it but the acidity and flavors were great. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender, well seasoned, not to mention had the perfect amount in each item. Also, Onions and peppers on the side were cooked great and had me going back for more each time. Also, get the horchata, it was spectacular. This place is small but decorated to really feel like the owners, workers, really care and take pride in the establishment. It had a great ambiance that was full of people on a rainy lunch hour, and I can see why. As a person who works in the industry as a cook, the kitchen, which you can see when you order is neat, clean, and truly has the right feel of 'they know what they're doing and they're doing it well'. 5 stars, will be talking about this meal for a long time and spreading the recommendation to as many people as I can.

The guacamole had a strong citrus flavor which I am a fan of and the salsa was complimentary! I would HIGHLY recommend the best burrito ($15) as they did not skimp on any ingredient, especially the flavorful pork pibil. My only qualm was that the rice was undercooked and slightly crunchy, but otherwise an affordable and tasty restaurant for a date night. The staff were friendly, service was fast (less than 10min to receive food after ordering) and the restaurant had bright and colorful furniture and decor which were true to theme.

Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support. For an incredible adventure and source of authentic carnitas, git yourself down to da south side ya day hair and ENJOY!!!!!!
