He received half of the payment down, $4300, dug up my whole front yard, put a hole in the city's storm drain pipe and then ghosted everyone. He didn't even fix the piece of pipe he was hired to fix. He also left all of the equipment he had rented, 2 trailers and an excavator, at my property. Thumbtack has now removed him from their platform, the city and county are both looking for him and I'm out $4300 and have to start my project all over again.

But when I arrived a week later on 9/6 and flushed it, it didn't turn off before the water level reached the overflow (which thankfully worked), so it ran and ran and ran. I called and asked for an adjustment. They said it worked when their guy left and the work had a warranty and they'd come fix it. I said Too late, I already fixed it (bent the float arm). So, to me, the only right answer in this kind of mistake is, "Wow, sorry to hear that, no idea how that could have happened, how can we make it right?" And I'd have suggested give my dad SOME amount of refund. I don't even much care how much, $10, $20, just make an effort, you know? But no. No adjustment. They also dug up a basement drain in order to move it, so that it would not be under a planned closet. After digging it up, they discovered that an original cast iron Y connection had rotted through. The replaced the Y, and routed the drain away from the closet area. We are novices at having this kind of heavy work done, and Marvin patiently helped us figure things out, and patiently worked with us when we changed our minds about a couple of items. We will have a larger project of cutting up practically an entire section of the pad in the location of a planned basement bathroom and shower, which will require relocated the existing toilet flange, shower drain, and vanity plumbing, as well as replacing galvanized vent risers and cast iron sewer connections. I will happily trust them with this heavy work.

The actual issue turned out to be a faulty switch on a grinder pump, and the repair was under $1,000. Additionally, contrary to what was stated, our sewer line had already been scoped when we purchased the home. This experience raised serious concerns for me regarding the accuracy of the assessment and overall integrity of the recommendation. I strongly encourage others to seek additional opinions before committing to major repairs.

I think these people looked at my home and that I was an elderly lady and thought it was okay to overcharge and apply fees.
