$69 to come out isn't bad. However; their "Job fee" (versus hourly charge) was a lot more than I expected so I was shocked to find out the price of my toilet leak repair came to $395.66!! According to the web, plumbers charge between $50 -$150 an hour. My repair took about 2 hours, so their hourly price would be the top rate of $150/hr. The only good part was that they came out within 24 hours - but I'm still upset by their pricing and will shop around elsewhere if I have another plumbing need. read more

I called on Saturday over Memorial Day weekend because I had sewage spilling out of my front yard. I told them I thought I might have a broken pipe, but I wasn't sure. They told me they couldn't get me scheduled until Tuesday when their scheduler gets back. I asked them about their emergency services because their site advertises it. I was told again that they were not around. Why answer the phone on the weekend if you can't provide these services? I had another plumber come out and they found a clean out in my front yard where the sewage was spilling out and a clog just past it. Received a call finally on Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon from Mr. Rooter after the problem was fixed. Not very helpful in emergency situations. read more

Be very cautious about this company. Called them yesterday to come unplug two toilets a shower and tub and after 7 hours someone finally showed up and gave an estimate of over $900 and said they were not prepared to do the job now. Declined service at that time and called someone else who did the job for $64 including tax. Also had another experience with them, my neighbor needed a couple of themostats changed in her water heater (she is 80 years old). I told her that I found them at Lowes for $25 each but she had already scheduled Mr. Rooter and he charged her over $400 to change these out. A new water heater would have only cost $350 so they totally took advantage of her and when I confronted them on the phone they said they charge everyone the same. Shame on them!!! read more

Have used Mr Rooter twice. The first time (two years ago) was a wonderful experience. We had an emergency and they put in a lot of effort to get it fixed. We were so impressed, we bought their advantage plan. Clearly that was a mistake. I called on Tuesday to have someone take a look at leaking shower pipes. They gave me a four hour window for today, from 11-3. At 2pm I hadn't gotten a call, so I called to see if I got the day wrong. They said they were running a little behind, but would have someone here just after 3pm. At 3:01pm they left me a message that said the tech was ready to come out and that if I didn't call back in 10 minutes, they'd have to send him to another appointment. I called them back at 3:04pm, well within the 10 minutes only to be told that they wouldn't be able to come until next Tuesday. Appalling service. I called someone else and will never use Mr. Rooter again. Feel really ripped off that I bought their advantage plan. Never again. read more

I've never really had problems with them before. I had a furnace that broke down during a holiday weekend and I called them up and they replaced the entire thing the same day. Yeah it took $1200 but the fact that they came out and replaced the damn thing and got hot water pumping through the house was alright with me. Called them recently to fix a facet that required special tools that I didn't have, like how to fix a plumbing issue. The dude was nice. He quoted me a price and replaced a few things here and there. Yeah it might seem like he jacked the price up, but he found a problem before it became a problem. So I'll say money well spent. I rather pay $500 to have a problem fixed before it becomes a $5000 problem with a call to the insurance company. He also inspected all the toilets and sinks in the house and made minor adjustments to the flappers of the toilet, obvoiusly the ones I messed up on. That was free! read more

Mr. Rooter was a great experience. Jim McDonald was our man. He arrived in pretty short order and immediately impressed us with his skill and knowledge and confidence in what he was doing. We had a clogged laundry drain from the basement. Our house was built in the early-mid 1960s so he gave it to us straight about costs and what other things might be wrong and was very matter-of-fact and had a most professional attitude about everything. The price was about what we thought it would be for the service we were rendered. He quoted a couple of prices out of a standard menu of charges. We were charged a flattish fee (it's plumbing, folks, that's never a bargain, but these prices were reasonable within the context) and left with a bottle of bacterial drain cleaner and instructions on use and care. The man was never off the job either. He looked over everything and gave us a couple of suggestions. When washing his hands during cleanup he heard a dripping noise and had to at least get an idea of what was causing it, and gave us a couple of hints on how to handle. Given the price, professionalism, knowledge, and efficient service, Wife says she'd call him again. Wife knows value. Wife is, as usual ... right. They will come out and give you and estimate before you give the go ahead. So no reason at least not to call. read more

Now I'm not positive...but I'm pretty sure that 575.00 for a rooter service is a bit more (ok..alot more) than reasonable. I talked to a local guy later and he said he would have charged 70.00. The initial work was effective, $365 for a clogged bathtub drain. However, their person broke our bathtub stopper while doing this work. When he came back to fix this issue, later that day they sent us an unsolicited bid to replace the entire system he had broken then fixed. Fast forward, he meets at our house with a potential buyer regarding roots in the sewer pipe and tells them he recommended repairs that we refused to make! In my opinion, based on my experience, this company engages in predatory sales practices and will stop at nothing to trick people into spending more money. I called due to a clogged main sewer line that resulted in sewage flooding my bath tub. The plumber that came out to fix it took one look at the cleanout and told me it would be about $530 to fix after tax. I decided to get a second opinion of a different company who did more than just look at the cleanout. They found out that not only was the main sewer line clogged, but pipes in my home were clogged too. Long story short, I got the whole problem fixed for a lot cheaper than Mr. Rooter would have charged for just cleaning the main sewer line. They were friendly and professional, but seemed to want to charge an arm and a leg for bare minimum work. read more

I have a root problem in my main drain line. Every few years I have to have the drain rooted out, same deal, no problem. I called Mr. Rooter this year (I lost the card of the guy who did the work last time). I asked for a price quote several times. They refused to give me a price quote which was annoying but the service call was free so fine. I waited all day for these guys to arrive. The "tech" arrived, I told him what was going on, and he said that I needed the drain rooted just as I said. I asked for a quote and the guy pulls out a binder and tells me that its a little over $400.00 bucks to snake out the drain. I was pretty frustrated and told the guy to take a hike. The price is outrageous. Most companies will do this work for less than 200.00. I called a guy from craigslist who was a licensed plumber and he did it for $150.00 after hours. The guy that came out for $150.00 told me that he used to run a big plumbing company and that the "tech's" that they send out usually make 20-30 percent commissions on anything they sell. Also, I assume Mr. Rooter is a franchise which also adds to the costs. 1. Don't call these guys. 2. Ask whoever comes to clean out to fix your drain if they make a commission of their work. If they do, are they giving you unbiased recommendations? Companies like Mr. Rooter take advantage of the fact that most of us don't understand how plumbing works. Great service with the technician we used! We used them to replace our water heater and then again to handle a drainage issue we had in our house. Very professional, came ontime and was willing to do a few other things outside the scope and not nickel and dime us. I would use them again and highly recommend them! They do sell "high end" water heaters and toilets that are a lot more spendier than what you can find at a home depot, so jsut be careful. But, the tech was extremely honest with us about it and wasn't attempting to oversell us on the products. read more

I Agree with J.H and Shannon they are about 2-3 times more expensive than other plumbers, especially if they are dealing with someone inexperienced or desperate. In my opinion there professionalism is not worth the 200% up charge. My wife got taken advantage of them once and we will never recommend them. I woke on a Sunday to find water puddles in the bathroom, and then water came up through the shower and the base of the toilet. I had seen a couple of good reviews for Mr. Rooter and called them. I was a little nervous because the receptionist couldn't even give me a range of cost. Adam called me in 10 minutes and was at my home in 15 minutes. He quickly explained what he would do and how much it would cost, and when the problem got a little more complicated, he explained why it would be a bit more. In the end Adam worked very hard and cleaned up everything leaving it better than before the leak! I highly recommend Adam if you can get him, but Mr. Rooter did come through for me. read more

I had the unfortunate timing of calling for a plumber the day after major rains caused a lot of people in the area plumbing issues (mine was not caused by the rain). Since they are a 24/7 business I called early on a Sunday morning, hoping to get my sink fixed that day so I wouldn't have to worry about scheduling during the work week. Due to the crazy number of calls they got, they weren't able to get to me until around 7pm that night. (And I think they made a point of squeezing me in since I was a bit of a pest... or just persistent in my request). In retrospect, I can say it was well worth the wait. When Adam from Mr Rooter arrived, he was very nice and professional. He went above and beyond, taking care of the problems I mentioned *and then some*. I am extremely happy with the service I received from them, and would definitely use them again if needed. read more

The diagnostic fee was $69.95 plus tax. The repair man was very nice but didn't know for sure the problem so quoted several variables ending with replacing the hot water tank for $1350. Very expensive! I called another plumber who fixed the problem for less than $200. read more

Top notch experience. Mr. Rooter was recommended by a septic company that suggested we needed someone to jet-clean the drain. James was friendly and professional, and did a fantastic job. Prior to this experience I would have said spending the money for a company that uses a camera down the line was a waste, but without it we never would have seen exactly what the issue was (root ball), nor would we have been able to jet out the problem AND tell me exactly where it is in the line so I can replace the offending section. I imagine this would have been overkill if we had a simple clogged drain, but for this job (backed up line to septic) I don't think I could have asked for more. read more

Their tech Adam W. just saved the day! Had a laundry sink that was draining slow, then backing up into our kitchen sink. Then it was just completely clogged. My husband and I, and my parents had torn everything apart, and tried everything we could to clear it, but failed. I was dreading calling a plumber. Called at 8pm on a Saturday, and he came right away. Went above and beyond with his service, and was very nice to my excited, curious dogs. He even gave us a discount, and an extended warranty on the service. It was $260 to clear our pipe. Which is close to what we had spent on drain cleaners, snakes, and other tools needed to try to clear it ourselves. Definitely calling them again if we ever have a problem! read more

I have some apartments in Kelso. I called this company to come out and jet a sewer line for me, when I asked them what the base price would be they would not tell me. They said they would send someone out and they would give an onsite quote, that is how you get ripped off especially when they know you need the service immediately. be careful I did authorize work on a rental house of mine and I did think it was very expensive for the amount of work I thought I needed and I was right. I paid $445 for a 1.5 hours work labor only no parts. I understand overhead but this is over the top.
