We called Apollo Plumbing for a same-day emergency repair during normal business hours after our angle stop disconnected and we had to turn off water to the house. We have two small children, so restoring water quickly was critical. The technician removed a short section of copper pipe, connected a short section of PEX pipe to the existing plumbing, installed a new angle stop and supply line, and tested for leaks. The total charge for this repair was $1,204.47. After reviewing the invoice and speaking with other plumbers, we learned that this type of repair typically costs a few hundred dollars, even accounting for a service call. Jonathan explained that Apollo operates on flat-rate pricing. He first presented a $13,000 plumbing replacement option, which did not seem relevant to the emergency repair we had requested to restore water service. He also offered a membership plan. The invoice lists a flat-rate package titled "Repair 1/2" Copper Pipe up to 10'." In reality, only a short section of pipe was removed and replaced with PEX. While the repair restored water to the house, the price felt extremely high relative to the scope of work performed. I recommend homeowners get multiple quotes before approving work, especially for emergency repairs. read more

Hired this company to replace my sink disposal. They came out in 1 day. Plumber was professional and got job done quickly! I was charged over $700 and requested an itemized bill because I thought bill was excessive. They refused to tell me the cost of labor vs the cost of the in sinkerator. They said they're not able to tell me. Well 30 min labor for the item and labor are ridiculous! I will not use them again! read more

We had two plumbing issues that I was looking to get fixed- one of which was a substantial issue since it affected the kitchen sink, and the other was a less pressing issue since it was in a spare bathroom. They charge $75 for someone to come by and quote the job, which goes towards the cost of the job, which I figured was fine since I was expecting a couple hundred dollars to fix the kitchen sink. My appointment was at 3pm and I was immediately told they wouldn't have time to fix anything, just quote the job, which was disappointing since we couldn't use the kitchen sink. The tech barely looked at the main problem in the kitchen and decided to focus on the bathroom, and quoted us over $2k, which was about 3x as much as I was expecting. He told us we needed to replace a whole assembly of pipes and fittings to fix the problem. After he left and the sticker shock wore off, I talked to other plumbers. With a photo of our plumbing, other plumbers immediately flagged that the $2k of pipes had been replaced recently, and were unlikely the source of the issue. They said it'll be a couple hundred dollars to fix one fitting. I feel like I could have been totally scammed by this company since they had planned to replace a bunch of perfectly fine parts. I'm still out $75 which is aggravating. read more

I had a pair of leaking valves behind the washing machine, the design of which are obsolete and had to be replaced. The Apollo technician arrived promptly and cheerfully made the necessary replacements with more contemporary valves and switches that are easier to turn on or shut off the water. I also appreciated that he didn't try to push selling Apollo's customer subscription service, which I didn't think was appropriate for me as a non-commercial consumer. read more

Living in a house that's 100yrs old is charming, and challenging. We had a clogged drain in our kitchen sink that I tried fixing myself without chemicals by, plunging, snaking, and disassembling. Apollo charged a non-refundable $75 to show up to: 1) give me a really hard sell on their yearly maintenance/service plan; and 2) give overpriced estimates with confusing/vague details on two straightforward jobs (drain clog & garbage disposal). Their focus seemed to be selling the yearly maintenance plan as opposed to fixing the problems at a reasonable price. read more

My elderly parents called these guys because their furnace wasn't blowing hot air. It is a fairly new furnace. They came out and looked at it, told us that the furnace is cooked and persuaded my parents into getting a new furnace. They quoted us some 9k for the furnace. We called another company and they fixed our issue for $595 parts and labor. read more

1/6/23 Updating: After I posted yesterday's review update, Mario replied once again to my email thread and I accepted their offer of a slightly higher nominal credit off of the total job price. Paid, and settled. 1/5/23 Unfortunately, I am back to share the update relating to Apollo's service. No member of Apollo's management team contacted me in an attempt to resolve the matter. I was forced to work with Mario, the rep that lied to us during the sales process. When Mario and team were in my house on Wednesday 1/4, Mario admitted to not understanding how fan speeds work on the unit that was sold to us. I suggested that maybe we could accept the unit that had been installed if a credit was issued. Mario and Antonio assured me that the team would be in touch that afternoon. I received an email at 5:30pm today, accusing me of coercing the company for additional items, and a $500 check mailed back to me, after I pay for the rest of our $18000 job. I don't trust them. The immaturity in their response, and lack of attention (or any reply) from management demonstrated that this company cannot be trusted with a large project nor resolving any customer service issues. read more

Our furnace wouldn't come on on a Sunday morning in the coldest, January 18th, 30+degree weather a few weeks ago. I called Apollo and was told by their AI generated voice that it would cost $75 for someone to come out and give me an estimate. Ty came out looked at the furnace, took it apart, couldn't fix it as it needed a part which he could order, told me if I signed up for the annual maintenance plan I could get the labor for that for free, so I signed up for the plan $363.79 (I think) bill is confusing. After he put my furnace back together, still didn't work, (needed a pressure switch) but he said he could order one. I said ok, then when I went to pay the $75 and the $363.79 he told me it was $198 to come out on a Sunday, then for the extra hours, I ended up paying $783.79, thinking he would be back the next day on Monday. We are seniors living in a cold house. Anyway, no word on Monday, (house still freezing cold), I called on Tuesday and was told by the office that Ty was the only one who could let me know if the part was ordered. I called Ty and he said the company kept him so busy on Monday he didn't have time to order the part, but that he would do that right away. He did and came out late in the afternoon to install (took him about an hour). Well he left just before I got home from work at 6:00 p.m. and the heater wasn't working again (house still freezing). I called him and he was 1/2 way home but said he would come back on Wed. He did, late in the evening, around 5:30, this time he took the whole furnace apart and put it back together, it worked for 5 minutes, then quit again (with the new part in it). He took it apart again, (put a little crack in some motor housing thing, put silicone on it and said he owed me a replacement part, still didn't work. He went up on the roof to check something about the wind, and that was fine (by the way nothing was really wrong with every part he looked at except the pressure switch. I had to leave for grandkid events (after bringing him dinner when I got food for my grandkids that were there spending the night (house still cold). Anyway, he was there for a total of 5 hours taking things apart and putting them back together. He called me while I was at my granddaughter's event, and told me he got it back together with old pressure switch and it was working just fine, and that I would get a refund for the $350 pressure switch I didn't need. Ty also told me he couldn't tell me what was wrong and what he did to make it work. Needless to say I was happy to have heat back, especially since my grandkids were spending the night. By the way by this time I spent over $1,000. After all this, I decided I did not want the maintenance contract, so I called and cancelled it, told the lady at the office all of this asked for a refund on the maintenance contract, and the pressure switch, and asked for the part that got cracked. She took all my information and said she would have a supervisor call me. Well a week later, still no call or refund. I called the office again, lady said let me go get the supervisor. Came back on the phone to tell me he had left the office, but would call me next day. Another week has gone by with no call whatsoever. I am very disappointed with this company. Just don't know what to do at this point. I work for attorneys, so I guess I will have to have them send a letter to get my refund and part. read more

I just had my the pipes on my water heater replaced due to corrosion on the pipes. I called a few places and Apollo was the first to respond and have someone come out to take a look at it. The representative, Michael T, was super professional and also very efficient at addressing the situation and offering a solution. He was able to take care of the pipes immediately and save me a ton of time and also money from what problems may occur if not taken care of. BUYER BEWARE! I've used Apollo for various services over the years, including plumbing, HVAC, and line repairs. In total, I've spent over $20K with them (a lot of money IMO), but today they lost my business for good! Pushy Sales Tactics: Whenever I've called Apollo for a specific issue, their technicians consistently pressure me into additional services or repairs. Their prices are already on the premium side, but I justified the cost because I believed they would take care of their customers long-term. I was wrong. The Heat Pump Disaster: In April 2023, I had a full furnace and heat pump installation. Within just one month, the heat pump stopped producing heat, and Apollo came out to fix it. I was a little worried at this point considering it was BRAND NEW but wrote it off. Fast forward a year and a half later--same issue, no heat. I called for an appointment, and the receptionist assured me there would be no fee for them to check it out. However, when the technician arrived, they suddenly demanded a fee for diagnostics. When I refused, they pivoted and said they wouldn't waive their "consultation fee" then and I would have to pay - this is extremely pushy! Here's the kicker: this furnace and heat pump are only 1.5 years old! I shouldn't have to pay for a diagnosis on equipment that's practically brand new and still failing. When I escalated to a manager, I was shocked at his response--he essentially blamed me for not having the unit serviced regularly. I didn't expect a brand-new system to break down so quickly! At this point, I've realized Apollo doesn't stand behind their work or their customers. If you're considering them, think twice! Their pushy technicians, high prices, and lack of accountability make them a hard no for me going forward. read more

Expect to pay about $1,000 per hour of work. Mine was more but included some hardware. This is crazy expensive yes. However honestly I'd be fine with that if they did what they advertise. Which is diagnose the problem and be up front about everything that will be needed. I went through four separate times of work done and no improvement. I was willing to pay more for expertise and quality work. Unfortunately you don't get it. 2 stars because honestly some of the employees do really care and try their best to compensate for others. Their knowledge seems siloed. For any one part of a job it's a different person and trip. If you do get new hardware as part of a job go in knowing what you want. They don't give you options. They don't tell you price differences or pros and cons. It just is. Given the nature of plumbing and heating issues the customer just wants it working asap of course. This seems preyed on. After all that I liked a couple of the employees efforts so much I gave them another chance. Wanted a bid on a small job. At this point I had paid them enough to buy a new car and was a member paying monthly fees. No calls back. Voicemails. No calls back. Finally I just cancelled and i am walking away. My small job wasn't worth their time I guess. Shame really. There is a place in the market for "we are expensive but know what we are doing and won't take advantage of you". ***Update on former one star review*** I did reach out to Isabeau as she requested below. She was apologetic and gave me time to explain everything in detail. She offered a refund of $1,000 to make it right, and I agreed that would be great. She said that refund would process right away. I did have to call back two weeks later because we had still not received the refund. The person I spoke to was very nice, apologized for the delay (office turnover) and promptly processed the refund. Absolute predatory thievery. Needed a plumber to come to my home and repair a leaky PVC joint assembly on my water main. Buried about 4 foot down; I dug the hole myself and did not request re-burial. All I needed was a lone plumber to get in there and make the repair. I'll say this: Apollo has a really admirable response time; they were able to accommodate that request within 24 hours. And, the plumber who performed the work was friendly and professional. Here's my problem: The plumber hopped in that hole at 10:36 am, and I watched him drive away at 1:06 pm. Then I get a bill for $2,500. So, for literally 2-1/2 hours of a lone plumber's time, and a handful of simple parts, Apollo wants $2,500, which literally amounts to $1,000 an hour. No dig, no burial, no major material investment, no travel time (my residence is about an 11 minute drive from their shop). I'm a contractor myself, and I understand that you have to establish certain minimums in order to profitably benefit from the time devoted to a given project. But, even the 4 hours' time they claim on the invoice would still amount to an equivalent of $625 an hour. For comparison, Google states that lawyers in the state of Oregon charge between $158 and $485 an hour for their time.) I reached out to the estimator on the project to voice my concern and ask for justification, and amidst his fumbling and stumbling, here's an actual quote: "I don't know how it works. Plumbing's expensive." He also told me that he had no power to change anything, but that he'd get someone in touch with me who possibly could...which didn't happen. Be advised, folks, cuz Apollo ain't your friend. I was in a pickle, needed help, quickly, and they took full advantage to make a bunch of money that wasn't earned. Needless to say, they'll not be getting return business from me, ever, and I would strongly advise any family member, friend, co-worker, client, and even people that I hate, to avoid these folks like the plague. read more

I called them out to flush our completely functioning water heater, as I had seen some debris in our tap water. When they left, my unit started dripping water. I called and they sent someone out in 2 days. The second technician said the first guy had not pressurized the expansion tank. He pressurized it and left. The next day it started leaking again. They came out today and said that the extension tank needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,200. All they tried to do is sell me stuff, and really didn't even look at what is causing the slow leak out of our overflow PVC pipe. Now I have to find another company to come out and fix what they messed up. The totally agreed the unit was working perfectly before they got to my house. We still have hot water and all is functioning, just the leak. So frustrating when you want to use a local company to support them, and it turns out being horrible. read more

The ultimate cost was quite a bit higher than I'd hoped, but the communication and professionalism was top notch. The repairman talked me through each step and was really great to work with. I broke a main valve while I was replacing the shower cartridge. I called the Apollo drain and they sent me an licensed plumber. The main valve was looked easy to replace to me but I wasn't a plumber so I wanted professional to handle it. When he arrived, he told me they need to take out couple yards of the pipe to replace and that will cost $3500. When I rejected the quote, he asked me for $75 for the dispatch fee, which I wasn't aware of, so I didn't pay him. I called few other plumbers and they all quoted $300-$450 and the work didn't even take more than an hour. I cannot believe I almost paid Apollo drain $3500. Beware, this company is neither transparent nor accountable for billing abnormalities. I recently requested service on a leaking garbage disposal and called Apollo because I had used them before. I was given a verbal quote by the tech and he showed me on his tablet a choice which would approve the work he had described at that price. After initialing he scrolled down and I was required to initial two more boxes. This is where it went off the rails. I should have requested a written breakdown of the costs be emailed to me for my review at that point. Lurking in the small print is where the 'gotcha' happened. Because after he did the work, by the time the invoice was emailed to me it was late in the evening and by the next day, when it reached my credit card billing, it was over $700 more!!! When I contacted the billing dept for an explanation, they said the invoice is 'as it is' and they would not provide a line item breakdown. (When I used Apollo before, this breakdown was available, in very good detail with photos). They offered to escalate my question to management, which I authorized, but I did not hear back. After a few days, I called the office and left a message asking to speak to a manager. I have not heard back. I am lodging this complaint as I have not ever dealt with any company who does not provide a line item breakdown of what they are charging you for!! Did they give the tech a bonus for swindling a little old lady? I don't know what has happened to Apollo, they didn't used to be like this. So, lesson learned, be very careful if you do decide to deal with Apollo Plumbing. read more

Submitted a request for a quote to compare companies (no damage just a simple toilet upgrade on a toilet that was only installed a few months ago when we bought our house), basically, this should be the simplest quote to get and be pretty straightforward. The reply did not answer any questions but simply asked us a good time to schedule... Uh... I don't want to schedule I'd like to compare companies first since this isn't a repair job. We know quotes won't be exact at the end of the day but you should be able to provide me a general idea based on the simplicity of this job (as several other plumbers did). Nope. Their reply, we don't work that way, we need to send someone out (which by the way will cost you $75) before we will even tell you our pricing or if we are comparable to other companies. I got the strong impression this company just survives off the $75 fees they charge unsuspecting customers who inevitably decide to go somewhere else. Side note we had multiple other companies provide a complete breakdown of their services and the average cost, I have a very clear idea from those companies what I will get.... these guys? **Shrug** who knows... cuz they won't even tell you without charging you first. BTW the quote WAS NOT "over the phone" it was using the "request a quote" feature on Yelp... so I "Requested a quote". You have someone responding to quote requests, on yelp... who doesn't actually provide quotes. There is no "protection for me" by choosing to charge me for the pleasure of telling me how much you want to charge me. If you need to charge people to provide a quote then clearly it means your pricing alone is a concern or those you quote would just pay for your service, thus negating the need to charge them for the quote. All this tells me is more people walk away from your quotes than accept them, thus your need to charge them for choosing not to go with your company. #YouKeepOnScamming! read more

Apollo Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is top notch!! Justus came by on short notice to see why there was no hot water flowing out of the taps. He checked things out and went under the home and found there was a leak in the supply line. Ugh! Justus is super friendly and helpful and a great communicator, even when you're imagining what damage has been done because of a leak and what's its going to cost to fix everything. He offered 3 different options and we felt that the best value was to replace all pipes and the hot water heater due to their age. Justus gave us plan on when the work would start and how long it would take to complete. They even put us up in a hotel for a few days! As promised, Justus & Gavin showed up on Monday morning and were able to have the guest bathroom functioning before they left for the day. YAY! Apollo plumbing heating and air conditioning, Troutdale, OR I thought this was Apollo sewer based in Gladstone. I had used them 3 years ago. I had another "clog" this month. I called Apollo only now they are Apollo plumbing heating & cooling on Harlow in Troutdale. Different company. I did not realize it and called for service. The office staff was prompt returning my call and scheduling my service. The technician was very nice and professional. Appeared the sewer back up was cleared. It was $700 but with my senior discount it was around $600. Fast forward 1 week. Sewage in bathroom and shower, and we had what we thought was water coming from our washer but it was really seeping from the bottom or the toilet. Brittany said it would be an extra fee for after hours Friday plus whatever the technician charges. I said no I'll call another company. Of course the 2 companies I called ( they were listed on the Better Business Bureau website with A + ratings (I didn't see Apollo on BBB website) . Of course they were also charging an after hours fee since they had not done work for me before. I was told I could wait until Monday and there wouldn't be an extra fee. I couldn't wait until Monday. We had no toilet no shower and no laundry. Stubborn me and on principal would not wait until Monday (from Friday afternoon) so we ended the call. Then on Saturday I called and was told by Oscar that a technician would be at my home Sunday 8am - noon. Also, it's a $199.00 after hours call on weekends. I had no choice so I agreed. Then, when I called back at 2:00 to ask when the technician would arrive they didn't have me on the schedule and no one knew who Oscar was. I still don't know. Anyway the answering service said they would have the emergency technician call me. He did. technician Cameron Cooper. He agreed to come to my house to see what's going on and arrived in a timely manner. He took toilet off and ran a camera down the sewer. There was no clog -maybe it cleared or was frozen at the street. We have not had anymore problems so far. Cameron was really nice and very professional. It was an additional $300+. I planned to dispute the additional fee but since Cameron was such a good technician and our problem is fixed(hopefully we won't have to call again) and I did not do my do diligence on Apollo- I decided not to dispute with my credit card company. I will end in saying that when you call for service they are very polite and timely the first time. It's if you have a problem that it's the worst customer service ever! They got 1 star from me for the technicians Apollo gets no stars at all. read more

As you might expect if you're going to have a sink fail it's going to fail in between Christmas and New years, so I had no expectation of being able to get somebody to come out and take care of it until after the New Year. To my surprise not only could Apollo come before the new year but they actually showed up the next day, this was not an emergency so that was a pleasant surprise. Tyler the service person was pleasant, knowledgeable and got the job done on time and on budget which given this kind of service is pretty much all you can ask for.
