The owner of this company (whose picture is shown on his website) is an absolute crook! He sent an…read moreemployee to my house to tune my piano and the guy broke the lid off! When I contacted the owner, he agreed to fix my piano right after the Christmas holiday, and then he took a part off my piano to go and match it for parts. Since then, I have not heard ONE WORD from the owner so I have decided to file a case against him in small claims court because he DID NOT FIX MY PIANO and HE STOLE A PART FROM IT and then DISAPPEARED WITHOUT A TRACE! His phone no longer works either! Stay away from this fly by night crook, but if you see him, tell him he's about to pay through the nose for my grandmother's antique piano to be repaired by a true professional! Believe me, the owner of Express Piano tuning is nothing but a shyster and a thief! You have been warned!

I was ripped off by Express Piano Tuning & Repair. I engaged Express to tune my older moderately…read morepriced piano. The piano tuner came out and was unable to complete the tuning. Charge $140. A second tuner came out a couple of months later and was also unable to complete the tuning. Charge $140 again. The following month the third attempt to tune the piano was successful. Charge $160 this time. $440 to tune my piano. The national average according to Google is $100-120. I figured there must have been a mistake, so I texted the company to ask. No mistake. They got me. I am just shocked. They ripped me off and got away with it. I should sue, but is it worth that much more anguish? It isn't, but I feel like I should at least warn others.

It's been 3 months and I can read notes and play with both hands. Keith is my teacher and he's extremely positive even when you know he wants to put plugs in his ears, lol. I am in the market for a baby grand/grand piano. I visited Houston Piano Company (HPC) because a…read morefriend recommended this place. HPC was easy enough to find. It's tucked away a bit from the busy road, but you shouldn't have any problems. The parking lot was small. I visited on a Sunday afternoon so my car was the only car in the parking lot, but I was still thinking, "I better park in a way that I can easily backup or get out with my big SUV." The front door to the business was locked and you have to ring the doorbell. My first impression was, "it is wall-to-wall pianos. It was tight. There really was barely enough room to walk down the "aisle". Think of it as, if you're sitting at one of the pianos, people would have to jump over you like Super Marios Bros. style to get to the other side. They have more than one building and the other building wasn't as "tight". Our salesman, Larry, was quite knowledgeable. He asked us questions such as what we needed, price range, size, etc. He had us play on various pianos and explained to us the intricate details about each piano. Does Larry know pianos? Yes. Is Larry a salesman? Yes. We were in the market for a used piano, but they really didn't have used baby grands. Most of the used pianos were uprights. In the end, Larry helped us narrow our choices down to 3 pianos. Of course, the one that sounded the best was also the most expensive. In the end, we had to think about it. It is a big purchase and one that takes up a lot of physical space in your home so I urge everyone to sleep on this decision. What I appreciated about HPC is that they are knowledgeable about pianos. What I didn't appreciate was the fact they didn't tell me that the fancy piano I almost bought was not actually "German-made". It's made in China. Nothing wrong about Made in China, but if I'm spending this amount of money, I would like to know all the details. In the end, we decided to keep looking. Final verdict: I would not buy a piano from here.
