This dentist office is amazing. Dr. Ryan is so friendly and nice, it makes going to the dentist a great experience. I never feel judged about my teeth. Parking is a little hard to find sometimes, but there is a lot of free 2 hour parking around the area, you may just have to park a few blocks away to avoid paying. read more

42 is starting out great. After my crown popped off earlier this week, I was concerned it was going to need to be pulled. It didn't look good. Ended up going to see Ryan Tennet DDS (in LQA) and it was the best damn dentist experience I've ever had. The office was blasting house music. The assistant was into crystals and had even been to my shop, Crystallography Gems. The dentist (Ryan) was gay AF (and y'all know that's a bonus for me) and was so funny, kind, and saucy. AND he was able to pop my crown back on with no problem!!!! Just for added bonus, there were like 40 firemen across the street doing exercises and burning a building down for practice throughout my whole appt. This gets Five Stars plus some HEAT from me! If 42 means experiences like this, taking mundane stuff to a whole new level, I'm ok with that. Happy birthday to me! read more

Hands down BEST dentist experience! Dr. Ryan is professional, caring and funny! There's always a joke or two when he's around! The dental assistants are also amazing - shoutout to Heather & Dana! They are both SO sweet, and walk you through everything they're doing! I went to Dr. Ryan after having intense tooth pain after a root canal treated by a "specialist". Turns out the root canal the "specialist" did was not successful (after 3 attempts) based on the X-Rays they performed and there was still an infection in the tooth. Dr. Ryan fixed the tooth and put an amazing crown on it! He works fast and is very thorough. I absolutely love this office! Dr. Ryan is killin' it! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Ryan's for years. He's simply the best there is. He does good work, and if something isn't right you can go back in and fix it. I've had a ton of crowns, A TON, and he always takes the time to make sure we are putting them in correctly, but if something is off he will insist you come back to get it right. He's also hilarious and I really enjoy having him as my dentist. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and accommodating. If you have to have a long appt (ie: 2 crowns in a single day), they'll offer you a movie to watch. They'll also offer you a blanket that was quilted by Dr.Ryan's mom, which is just the nicest touch. I also have never had the dread of going there because I know everyone there is going to make sure you're comfortable (especially if you're there for a long appt or serious dental issue). They take really good care of their patients, and I've never had a bad experience here. Best in town! read more

Dr. Ryan is fantastic. I've been going to him for several years now and his work is topnotch! He's such a perfectionist, which I appreciate, and his office is beautiful and cutting-edge. I had to have a last-minute root canal last week and he and the hygienist (Heather) were very concerned with my comfort level throughout. They let you pick out a movie for the longer procedures, which is a really nice distraction from what is not the most pleasant procedure. For those of you who think he's unprofessional, maybe you are being a little overly sensitive? He's hilarious and he cracks some R-rated jokes, but so what? I slacked on dental visits while in college and grad school and it had been 3+ years since I had been checked (bad I know). One of my patients recommended Dr Ryan to me. Ryan was so non judgey about how long it's been, made me super comfortable, and his hilarious personality actually made me look forward to my dental visits. I took a chance on going to the closest office to my house and didn't read reviews anywhere except on Cigna's website. Thankfully, I've found my dude and won't need to look elsewhere. They did mention they don't do cleanings in the first visit. However, my teeth were in such good condition after the X-ray and exam, he offered to clean them right then. I was pleasantly surprised and we ended up laughing and chatting so much the visit went over a little on time. Considering he had to do a years worth of flossing for me, I didn't mind at all. Overall, awesome experience. Technicians were great, too. During the exam, since I mentioned I didn't read any reviews, he suggested I take a look. And, wow. I went in for a consultation and brought my x-rays from 6 months prior. They insisted on taking new x-rays and "found" that I had 11 cavities. I called my old dentist who I had been seeing for years in Chicago and she assured me I did not have 11 cavities. I also went to a new dentist in Seattle and he also confirmed this was not true. The office sparkles, everyone who works here is friendly and extremely efficient, and for the first time in my life I truly enjoyed going to the dentist. Members of the staff are young and lively, and they even play EDM in the waiting area! I got my initial exam and cleaning in one hour exactly, and that even includes completing the (paperless) forms. If there's one thing I love about customer service, it has got to be efficiency. I also have sensitive teeth, and my hygienist was very careful while also being thorough. Bite x-rays are never pleasant, but the lady that helped me made sure I felt as comfortable as possible. Both the x-ray lady and the hygienist lady talked me through each step and were really attentive to how I was feeling. Dr. Ryan was delightful, and he answered all of my teeth-related questions. He also poked around in my mouth and looked at my x-rays to give me a report on the condition of my teeth and gums. Most people you encounter at the dentist offices are polite, nice, and sometimes funny. Dr. Ryan is a little bit sassy and absolutely delightful. All four of the staff members that I met were fantastic, and I had a great teeth cleaning/exam experience in record time. read more

My experience was similar to J.J.'s. Decent teeth until I went to Dr. Ryan. He was condescending, rushed, and the experience was very uncomfortable. He used this block to hold my mouth open, which is comfortable for many people, but I have jaw issues - and he just got impatient with me when I expressed discomfort. All this for thousands of dollars of work. Years later, happily with a new dentist, I'm finding that one of the crowns Dr. Ryan installed in my mouth was crummily done, and because of a gap is causing more decay. read more

I agree with other reviewers, I felt like I was being treated by a used car salesman. Dr Ryan is condescending, he makes you feel like crap, and he drops F bombs while he is treating your teeth. Oh and he makes you feel like you have the worst teeth in the world, and told me all my previous dental work was done badly. Not the kind of dentist I want, and I will never go back. Unfortunately my experience of going to Dr. Ryan after about 2 years did not end on a good note. Before reading this review, it's important to know I have never had serious dental issues or had anything more done then tiny preventative fillings. First visit to Dr Ryan, he advised I needed a filling (fine) and a crown (I was surprised). I had the crown procedure done and within 2 months the tooth got overly sensitive which resulted in the need for a root canal. I got the root canal (obviously needed) and all seemed fine. Returned to Dr Ryan 2 months later for my cleaning and all was fine however within 3 weeks of that cleaning, the original crown on my back molar cracked and eventually completely fell apart. I made an appointment to consult with Dr Ryan and discuss the process for repair (someone from the 2th studio said they would fix it at no cost over the phone) - in our consultation, he didn't even look at the tooth, and just told me would NOT repair it and I would need to pay the $1200 out of pocket because insurance would not cover a replacement. He said "sometimes teeth just get mad at me, it's not my fault this one broke." Obviously I was frustrated and decided to not move forward with the procedure. I have now gone to a new dentist that advised the clearance on the original tooth work of the crown was likely not big enough, and the crown itself was very thin in reviewing my ex rays. Maybe just a round of bad luck, but it was the bed side manner that really disappointed me in the end. read more

Dr. Ryan and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary last year. I could NEVER think about going any where else. He is he absolute best!

Dr. Ryan is a nice person, but he said something to me that I felt was very unprofessional: "If you don't get a LOT of work done SOON, you won't have ANY teeth in a few years." He succeeded in scaring the crap out of me, and I left crying. If only I had the $15K to get all the work done! But still...really??? By the way - it has been almost two years since he said that, and I have had about $800 of dental work done (with another dentist who was more professional), and I still have my beautiful, straight, white teeth. I'm going to try to make this balanced, though my two most recent visits have me inclined otherwise. I've had 4-5 appointments at Dr. Ryan's office and while the hygienists do a good job on routine cleanings and are friendly and not your typical dental sadists, Dr. Ryan is not a good dentist, and I've decided to go elsewhere. Here's why. In my last two appointments, I've had two fillings replaced (silver for porcelain). In the first instances, while everything seemed fine when he was done, I noticed when I left that one side of my tooth felt much higher than I remembered, and food kept getting stuck in it. So when I went back for my second filling and mentioned it, Dr. Ryan got testy and said he tried to make it "anatomically correct" and this is what I was noticing. The hygienist called him a "perfectionist". Um, no. So he went in to grind it smooth, and without me mentioning it was higher on one side, he ground that down too. Hm, maybe he did a bad job the first time? Well, the second filling tells that tale. The second filling appeared to go as well as the first had. But as I walked out the door, and was checking my tooth with my tongue, I noticed the entire inside surface was rough. Like someone poured concrete over it. I went back in and the hygienist said that some of the porcelain must have gotten on my tooth. Some? It was *covered*. So she started to scrape. And scrape. And scrape. I was there probably another 20 minutes and all the while she's saying "it's impossible for me to tell where it is since it is the same color as your tootth". then Dr. Ryan comes in and he scrapes, and I still feel it. Then he says "oh it must be this hairline crack in your tooth that you're feeling." What?!? There wasn't a crack before, or if there was, he didn't tell me about it, and anyways that is definitely not what I'm feeling. I just got tired of hearing metal gouging at my tooth and left. And finally, Dr. Ryan's bedside manner, while possibly fun for the hipster crowd, is not appropriate. I almost get the Jennifer Aniston in Horrible Bosses vibe off him. He's made a couple of off color remarks that are not appropriate, and his snarky and somehwat smug demeanor just gets old quick. I'd like to know that the person who puts power tools in my mouth is a professional, and Dr. Ryan doesn't give that impression. read more

Can't say enough good things about The New Face of Dentistry! The space is beautiful & sparkly clean, every patient gets their own large & comfortable room, and you never have to wait too long. I have now seen both Dr. Ryan & Dr. Charlie, both of who are friendly, efficient & obviously good at what they do. The real gem here, at least in my experience, is Kate, receptionist/front desk/insurance extraordinaire. My company recently switched insurance, so I called to make sure they were still in plan before I showed up to my next appointment. Unfortunately they were not, but instead of telling me to either find another dentist or to just see what happens and maybe have to pay out of pocket, Kate spent the next MONTH working her magic (we basically became bff's via phone) and contacting my HR and our insurance companies and figuring out that I was, in fact, covered. Had it not been for Kate's warm and friendly demeanor and persistence in helping, I most likely would have just cut my losses and looked for a new dentist in plan. So, so appreciate friendly & responsive customer service in the medical world. Highly recommend! read more

I have many troubles with my teeth! So i visited him thru my fiancee`s good review! They calculated 14K for 14 teeth,it was more expensive than most of the other places but i really like their office and people in there, especially hygienists are all cool people. DR. Ryan is nice too. So i decided to get treatment in their clinic. On the fifth appointment, i had a company meeting which one was urgent and i e-mailed them one night before that if i delay it to next time. John, the officer guy called me and said that they charged me $50 because i ll not be able to go to my appointment. They have this information on their policy so i could understand it but when he already rescheduled me twice before i did not ask any money from them :)) And i was going to pay them at least 10K more, i can not believe he was trying to punishing me with $50.00 ! Here we go, with the compliment sandwich: The office is very modern and clean--like a high-end city loft. They also have really new and high-end (I presume) equipment. Ryan is pretty full of himself. He talks like he is THE BEST but really wasn't that great. My treatment was no more or less painful or effective compared with dentists in my past. Also, I find him to be a touch unprofessional. At the end of the day, he didn't seem to care about me, my teeth, or anything else. It's all about the money. The dental tech is very pleasant (don't remember her name). Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist. No horror stories to tell like pulling the wrong tooth or anything, but Dr. Ryan is just not a very good dentist in general especially considering the money. I have been to this dentist three times, and I definitely will not go back. Though the hygenists were decent, Dr. Ryan did not show any interest in his job and rushed through evaluations. The last time I went in, he left me waiting in the chair for nearly twenty minutes until he finally got there, and for what do you ask? He litterally glanced in my mouth for less than three seconds, said everything was fine without actually looking, and sent me on my way. Talk about not being respectful of peoples time. I mean, I hate having someone poke around in my mouth, but if I'm going to go to the dentist, I expect them to at least give me a thorough evaluation. My first visit with Dr. Ryan consisted of him filling a small cavity. He rushed through this job as well and I now have a permanent ridge on the front of my tooth because he didn't take the time to carefully grind the filling down smooth. Lets not forget the bill. He is by far the most expensive dentist I have ever been to. You will hear a lot about his plush/modern offices, but it will become pretty apparent who is paying for the swanky office after you get the bill.....you, me, and your insurance if he even takes it. There are no shortages of dentists out there. I have been to many over the years and Dr. Ryan has been the worst and most expensive. Take your money elsewhere and get better treatment....that is my two cents. read more

Sadly, I am removing three stars. My last cleaning visit was the last appointment of the day, and I was finally strapped into the dental chair after at least 30 minutes in the waiting room. During my cleaning, I pointed out some pain I was experiencing. Turns out, two of the fillings he had fixed in the last year had broken. One, I could MAYbe understand. But TWO fillings? Really?? Dr Ryan offered to fill them for free (which was appreciated, but necessary), so I had to make another appointment waste another couple hours while I got those done. I like the feel of the office, and it's nice to watch a movie while getting your teeth cleaned.. but I think I'll have to find another dentist. read more

I cannot say enough about this guy. I fear that once I start with the superlatives, they will not end. Suffice to say, he and his office staff are extraordinary! But let's get down to brass tacks. I knew there was something special about him from early in our relationship. You know...he has a certain "je ne sais quoiz" about him. I wasn't really able to pinpoint it until he asked me about my smile. He inquired if I were happy with it. My response reflected my lack of knowledge about the subject matter at hand. Little did I know my smile was actually quite hideous. Without making me self-conscious he further asked if I would be open to seeing what he could make my smile look like. "Why not?" I said, "Go for it." In a short while he came back with a "smile design." And it blew me away. Sure it was going to involve more work. But how could I say no. He took the time to point out the differences between my 20 year old porcelain crown and bridge work, and the new and improved version. WOW! I could really see a big difference. And most importantly, he promised--emphatically promised--that my new smile would get me laid. Yup, that's right. He knows what's important in life, and makes no bones about it. This really is the new face of dentistry. So we proceeded with the work but it was gonna take some time to complete. From the very first set of temporary dental teeth he had in place, I knew I made the right decision. He was right. He has gotten me laid, again and again. Can your dentist do that? I have had many complements on my "new grille." I kid you not. The first of the lot was from my recent ex-beau. Before we hooked-up he said to me, "you have the most beautiful teeth." I know it's kinda cheesy. But what can I say? Those teeth weren't even the real deal, they were temporary. And now that I got the real deal? Well, what can I say. I'm getting some play. Actually, getting quite a lot. Fine azz sexy men, all over my stuff. Yumm... Okay, so you say you need more than just gratuitous sex appeal? How about this... The dental suite is no ordinary aseptic environment. It's a state of art, au moderne, 21st century environment. Yeah, yeah. It's all about the glass encased dental pods with raw concrete finishes, saturated colors, and stainless steel accents. You are no longer just a common patient in a nondescript medical office building. Enter the dental suite of Dr. Ryan and you are enveloped in an atmosphere of comfort and care. Flat screen TVs and iPods? You bet. They await for your entertainment as you settle into their leather chairs. No this isn't the stuffy sterile dentist of your childhood. This place is over the top. They really do care about your experience. All that said, at the end of the day it really is about high-quality dental care. Whether it's just a cleaning and filling of cavities, or in my case a major overall of your smile, you can expect to get the very best dental science has to offer. I know I sound a little zealous but I've got good reason. Dr. Ryan Tennant, or Ryan as he prefers to be called, really helped me turn my life around. Without getting into the details, just know this guy "gets it." Big time. He's a bit geeky but that's what I love about him. He really loves teeth, understands the importance of a good smile, and is totally devoted to providing the best care. Ryan's practice is new. Check him out. He really is the "new face of dentistry." Dr. Ryan's The New Face of Dentistry is by far the prettiest dentist's office that I've ever seen. It also has the most attractive hygienists and staff. Dr. Ryan is the only male I've ever seen there, though... I'm a bit torn about this place. First, I have to give them huge props for my root canal. I was pretty nervous going into this even though I really don't mind the dentist over all. Amazingly, I had very, very little pain, most of which came from the Novocain shots, as normal. The setup they had kept me relatively comfortable, and the movie to watch during the procedure is a nice distraction. I haven't gotten the crown put on yet, but everything is holding up just fine. I've also been happy with their cleanings. The hygienists are definitely friendly and Dr. Ryan is pretty hilarious. The humor I witnessed wasn't child safe, but then again I'm pretty sure they don't treat kids. This is a plus for some people I know... On the other hand, after my first diagnostic appointment I felt hurried and almost pushed around. They showed me a huge list of procedures they wanted to do in, laid it all out in record time, then started working on setting up appointments. I give them credit for answering questions patiently when I asked, but I prefer when the time is taken to check in with me and see what I think and how I feel. Instead, I definitely felt like money making takes a bit of a higher priority here than I like to see. It figures though... something has to pay for all of the shiny decor. read more

The office is located in the same building I work in, so I'm thinking sweet I can get my teeth cleaned and then go back to work, excellent! I waltz in, am greeted with a smile and I let them know I'm looking for a teeth cleaning. She takes my information and says she can do that for me but first we need to do an entrance exam. I say okay and set up an appointment. I come back for my appointment and they do the X rays and all the stuff and the dentist looks at my teeth and tells me what's wrong with my teeth and what I need to get done and I say okay. They give me two referrals and some estimates for the work that needs to be done on my teeth. Okay, cool. Then when it's time for me to go I have to ask for the appointment to get my teeth cleaned (like hello this is why I came here to begin with). She says sure there is something this Thursday at 3pm. Oh, well I unfortunately will be busy that day and it won't work. What else do you have? Oh we wouldn't be able to give you a cleaning until four weeks from now. I said oh, that's kinda far away. Well let me give you a call in two to three months to set up an appointment. This is where I get completely pissed off! Why would I give you my business when you clearly don't want to attend to my needs with manageable expectations. When I initially came in why didn't they tell me, hey we can do your entrance exam now but your cleaning won't be for a month? If they would have I may have been able to say no thanks or yeah that is a little far out instead they just didn't listen to what I really wanted and therefore will not be getting my business. read more

Not your ordinary dentist office. Not stuffy or conservative. Very laid back, they do play some Lady Gaga but I'm not gonna complain I'd rather have that then regular boring office music. When you walk in you instantly feel at ease. Bright and very open. You can tell that everyone enjoys working here which is always a good sign =) I didn't have to fill out any paper work everything was done on the comp. Paperless the way to go they can email you whatever you want. Dr. Ryan will tell you how it is which I appreciate I don't think he is arrogant, He just knows his SHIT and will let you know! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ryan and his "peeps" as he calls them. From the moment I walked in, I knew this place was different. There's no front desk, but when you walk in, Sean will address you by name. When he did this, I said, "How do you know I'm not Andrea or Rachel or something?" He said, "Because we never overbook. We always know who is coming in." He's super nice- he impressed me from the moment I called in my emergency wisdom teeth troubles to the moment I left. He was also able to fit me in the day I called, because I probably sounded miserable and he could sense my pain. The office looks, literally, like a spa. It's very relaxing, and they have fun magazines to look at in the "lobby" area. They do all their "paperwork" in the actual exam rooms (I have to use quotations because nothing is quite what it sounds like). It's all paperless, all done on the computer, and you sit with them while they type in all your info. You also get to sign the screen when they need your signature. People get a kick out of that. The assistant, I believe her name was Nicole, was so nice and helpful, we chatted, and she took X-rays. Then Dr. Ryan came in. I LOVE this guy. Seriously. It was like having your super smart dentist friend look at your mouth. It wasn't like a typical dentist at all, except for the work he did. He spoke to me so I could understand what he was doing, and he was funny, nice, down-to-earth.... When I left, I called my mom and was so excited about my experience and had to brag that my dentist is better than everyone else's. Ha! But seriously, I can't say enough good things. The next time I went, I had to have a deep cleaning, and the hygenist was totally kickass. I feel like all the people that work here could be my friends, and temporarily are while I'm sitting in that chair. I wish I could go every day. Okay, not EVERY day, but more than once every 6 months. !! **Oh man. Had to bump it down a couple stars. I'm sorry Dr. Ryan, but last night, I had an appointment at 5. I got there early as usual- about 4:50, and waited. Until 5:45. Not once did sometime say, "It'll be about 10 more minutes, we're really sorry for the wait." I was offered water, but I wasn't thirsty. I think of myself as very patient. To wait for 45 minutes when I have an appointment (there's a reason we make appointments- so we don't have to wait) is inexcusable. I asked to reschedule, and when doing so, was made to feel like I was the one being out of line. NO! Wrong. The hygenist was NOT nice and VERY pushy. I really like Nicole, she tried to accomodate but it just wasn't happening. I really like Dr. Ryan still too, but not that hygenist. I was finally seen at 5:55, and my appointment lasted 5 minutes. Dr. Ryan and his staff are fantastic. Over the years, I've had a variety of dentists. The last one seemed good, until he suddenly wanted to do all sorts of fillings (even though I'd never had a cavity in my life.) After that experience I was a bit reticent to see a dentist again. After lots of yelp research, I came upon Dr. Ryan. Dr. Ryan did a complete exam and shockingly said - I had no cavities. Immediately I trusted this guy. Something else about this doctors office - humor is highly encouraged. Some may find it unprofessional, but if you're willing to relax and let your guard down, you'll find that you actually have FUN coming to the dentists office. They have a completely modern office with state of the art equipment. X-Rays are digital and instantaneous. They can show you on tv what your mouth looks like before and after cleaning (if you want.) They even give you warm towels at the end of your appointment to clean off. It's almost like a mini spa! The thing that pushed me to 5 star review for Dr. Ryan was his handling of a procedure that my insurance wouldn't cover. Most doctors would say - the price is X, and quote their standard price. Dr. Ryan said they'd bill my insurance to see if they'd cover it. If they did't cover it, he guaranteed that my total cost would be X amount or less. Turns out, my insurance didn't cover the $800 procedure, and without my prompting him, Dr. Ryans office sent me a bill for LOWER than the original amount that they guaranteed me. Due to all the mixed reviews, I wanted to wait until I'd had a few appointments before coming to any conclusions about this office. I'm happy to report that I am no longer in the "ignore your teeth and they will go away" camp, and it's all thanks to Dr.Charlie and dental tech extraodinaire, Daniel. First off, the office looks amazing. This is the first dental office I've ever been to that didn't feel like a dental office. Everything is clean and open, there's glass and/or windows everywhere, cool music playing and drinks being offered (water, but in a fancy glass). I'm a big scardey-cat when it comes to the dentist. I've had a lot of bad experiences, so it's hard for me to relax, and I will put off going to the dentist for as long as possible. I was years over due for an exam, and I was surprised to find that my initial visit wasn't the least bit scary. Nor was my next visit, the dreaded cleaning. I didn't get jabbed in the gums, not even once! Yay! A few months before going into this office, I'd been to another dentist for an emergency visit as and old filling had come out. After the filling was taken care of, they did a brief exam, xrays and presented me with a two page treatment plan, mostly replacing old fillings. When I mentioned my concern about my gums (the dental tech noted they seemed inflamed, and I do have a few areas of bad gum recession), the dentist advised me to floss more and it would be fine. The dentist advised me to come back asap to get started on replacing my old fillings as a few of them were "severe." Since I didn't have insurance at the time, I decided it would have to wait. In contrast to that, during my initial visit, which was about 4 months after my dental emergency, Dr. Charlie recommended a deep cleaning followed by a month of using a medicated mouthwash, and flossing regularly. He also noted that I did have old work that he recommended replacing, but stated that it was nothing urgent. He felt that getting my gums healthier was the top priority and none of the old dental work needed immediate attention. The cleaning appointments were no problem at all. I was petrified, as expected, but it was soon very clear that I had nothing to worry about. A few visits later, my gums are much better, I no longer have to use the medicated mouthwash, and I'm no longer afraid of the dentist! Quit this office after 10-years as a patient. I liked the staff, but I never liked the policies. This office is only about cash and making money; that dictates everything they do. Being a 10-year patient means nothing here, especially when you have a dental need or emergency; get in line and there is absolutely no flexibility. If you want to build the same type of relationship you have with a good quality MD, this is not the right dental office because they truly couldn't care less. They will not be there for you. Loyalty and years as a patient means absolutely nothing to Dr. Tennant and expect to be treated like a 1st time patient every time. I would find an office interested in true patient care. New Face of Dentistry couldn't care less. If you want a long term dental relationship, I strongly advise against this office. read more

I'm a dental-phobe. In a BIG way. I've had some dentists who weren't terribly kind and/or efficient, so I'm a bit jaded towards the whole dentistry world. They charge me an arm and a leg so that they can go about poking in my mouth with sharp objects. On the other hand, I work in the health care industry and so I hear the worst-case scenarios about what happens when you don't take good care of your teeth. After finally having enough pain and concern and self-guilt (and horrifying exposures to those worst-case scenarios), I took it upon myself to research dentists and came upon Dr. Ryan. Unlike a previous reviewer, I LIKED the fact that there was an initial visit. The reason I like that is not only because it was completely covered by my insurance, but because I like having a game plan when it comes to my healthcare. I don't want to go into an appointment and get a "we need XY and Z done and we're going to do them today" because that makes me feel like I've lost control of the situation. I'm not a total control freak, but I prefer to have some say over what happens to me. Especially when it's going to impact my bank account. Dr. Ryan and the staff I've encountered so far (Audrey, Lauren) have been amazing. Empathetic and entertaining, all in one place. The dentist office doesn't look like a dentist office. When I was a kid, the dentist office I went to had old-time (think old West) dental tools hanging in the waiting room. Dr. Ryan's office? Modern industrial loft meets contemporary. There was a large number of interesting magazines to read while waiting and no muzak. Nothing makes me happier than a Celine Dion/Kenny G-free dentist office. No front desk - they greet you when you come in. No dental chairs with cubicle dividers for "privacy" - you're in a dental suite with big windows, lots of room, and paperless charting. No white coats, for those who suffer white-coat hypertension, and I was the only one wearing scrub pants. (Hey, I came from work.) The first appointment was pretty harmless, involving xrays and a bit of poking and prodding, and then the news on what's needed. What's great is that there's no pressure to sign up for anything then and there - you go at your own pace. (I was told that we could go one tooth at a time if that's what it took for me to feel comfortable.) I went ahead and scheduled a handful of appointments and was back last week for the root canal. No gas, which was my lifeline in previous dentist offices, but you know what? I didn't need it. Because I had a movie to distract me. By the time the movie was over, so was the root canal. They numbed me up really well and I spent most of the time pretty oblivious to what was happening. Afterwards, I popped three motrin as a pre-emptive strike against pain and that was all I needed as far as pain killers. I wasn't that puffy and I was back to eating normally within two days. (Probably could've done it the second day out, but I was babying the area.) Awesome. I have a bit more work to go, dental-wise, but feel that I'm in good hands. Friendly, competent staff, a perfectionist of a dentist, and a patient-centered clinic? I wish ALL my healthcare providers were this rockin'. read more

Dr. Ryan is the best dentist in town. Everyone at my work goes to see him. I have never been to a more modern dentist before, and I dare not change my dentist. The office is clean, Dr. Ryan is amazing. I just don't mind going to the dentist, if the dentist was Dr. Ryan. Trust me, your attitude will change. read more

Er... I 'm not sure why there are bad reviews here but you're all entitled to your opinion.... and here's a confirmation of mine. Got my cleaning yesterday and it was pain free. The gal who scraped away the plaque had the lightest touch. So much so I almost thought she wasn't doing anything. She was also efficient, I was in and out of there in 30 minutes. No pain, no fuss, no problem. And then there's Dr Ryan. Some have written he's unprofessional but I find him hilarious. It is a professional service but I like the fact that he can kick it with his patients and shoot the @#$% with ya. I don't find him cocky rather he's just got a quirky sense of humor. I rather have affable than stale. read more

OMGosh, I can't possibly say enough good things about Dr. Ryan! The two best things about him, is that he is a perfectionist, my teeth have never looked better, what he isn't is a salesman, I love that. In the past I have always left the dentist's office with a long, pricey list of things that didn't seem necessary, (I have pretty great teeth btw) if I wanted sales pressure I'd go buy a used car. The office is like none other I have seen, very state of the art, very spa like, very relaxing. The staff also exceeds all my expectations of what I have experienced in a dental office in the past. Dr. Ryan is such a pleasure to be around, and has the best sense of humor, I get a lilttle sad when my appointment is over, cuz I kinda just want to hang out and talk some more. :) Thank you for making my fear of Dentists go buh-bye! read more

Dentophobia, or a fear of dentists, is pretty common from what I hear. My case was so bad that I didn't step foot in a dentist's office for six years. As you can imagine, it took a pretty awesome dentist to help me overcome my fear. Several coworkers went to see Dr. Ryan and raved about him so I booked an appointment. I even kind of look forward to going back for 6 month check ups now. The dental hygienists I have seen have all been knowledgeable and friendly. You can always tell they try to go as easy as possible, especially during the more excruciating bits to get you out as quickly and as comfortably as possible. You will only see Dr. Ryan for a few minutes in most cases. When you do he'll say something hilarious, flash you a winning smile, and make you want to come back again. Pro tip: Stock up on their amazing vanilla chap stick! read more

First, I'm not the person that writes reviews. I'm the person that will say I will, whether due to poor service or outstanding service, but then never does. Second, Dr. Ryan deserves a 5 star review from me - for many reasons. I've been a patient of his since his office first opened in 2006. Since then he has always provided top of the line dental services (including investing in the technology to provide better services faster) and his staff have been professional, courteous, accommodating, kind and competent. He even refused to whiten my teeth (which he makes $$ on) because he said they were already very white. He refused to take my money when I was literally trying to throw it at him. I should write a review just based on that. However, what really finally tipped me to writing the review was that during a seriously traumatic time for my family, in which my brother flew from Michigan to Seattle last minute, Dr. Ryan was there for me and my brother (who he had never met). When my brother landed he had a mouthful of pain. My brother hates and fears going to the dentist. HATES it. So much so that he has let his teeth rot. I reached out to Dr. Ryan and he, without hesitation, found space in his busy schedule to do an emergency root canal on my brother, eliminating the infected tooth and pain. Getting my brother in the office was a challenge (aforementioned hatred/fear of dentists) but once he was there it was almost miraculous. My brother laid back watching Aquaman, and at one point dozed off (I heard his snores) during the root canal, he was that comfortable with Dr. Ryan and his staff. There was no shame, no judgement, just compassion and caring. And ultimately, in the world these days, I'll write a review for a care provider for providing compassionate, best in class care. Especially when they do it for not the actual patient, but the patient's brother. Thank you Dr. Ryan for being an excellent dentist, but more importantly, for being a good human who leads with kindness and compassion. I appreciate you. read more
