Amazing food. Still the best BBQ in San Antonio (meat only). The sauce is new (to me) from what I remember a BBQ syrup that is unique but I like my sauce with some viscosity and spice. Lol The egg salad was good but bland. The corn was outstanding Loved the pulled pork with the salsa verde sauce. Different t and good. The turkey was tender and juicy. The sausage is old world and flavorfully. Might be dry to some.

Overall, the experience was good despite the warm weather. I enjoyed the pork cheese sausage the most since it had a slight spicy kick to it, but I enjoyed the brisket too despite being on a slightly drier side and the slices are kind of thick for brisket which is a good thing. The chicharrón macaroni and cheese was delicious and creamy. The pickles helped balance the richness of the meat and the macaroni and cheese. Overall, it's worth going at least once whenever you happen to be in San Antonio for any reason. Make sure to arrive by 10:45 am for the best selection of meats and sides especially on weekends.

It was about an hour wait but the food was fantastic! The brisket had great flavor, the pork ribs were not overcooked, the beans had tons of flavor and the Mac was very cheesy! The facility lacked a little bit in covered space as we went on a hot and sunny day. It is definitely worth the hype as this place is listed on the top 50 BBQ joints!

Came here on a rainy Sunday so we got our food to-go considering we love less than 10 minutes away. There weren't too many people there I'd assume because of the weather which was an added bonus. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, they moved quickly and efficiently. The food was absolutely delicious! We got the medium family meal with brisket, turkey, and pulled pork; sides were Double Macaroni, Double Corn, and coleslaw. We also got two pork sausages and a pound of ribs in the side. Everything was super flavorful, some of the best ribs I've ever had and the corn was so flavorful it was the best side in our humble opinion. The barbecue sauce was a bit unconventional, had a maple syrup type of consistency and was a little sweet but not a bad sauce. Definitely recommend coming here you will not be disappointed and definitely will be coming back!

Absolutely amazing BBQ for a San Antonio spot, everyone thinks you have to travel OUTSIDE of the city to another for great BBQ, but no, this place is where it's at! I've been coming for a few years now and it has not disappointed, every time I come it's always a HIT! I'm always bragging about this place to friends and family, there's a reason they made it on the Texas Monthly AND have a Michelin star rating. All sides and sauces homemade, gotta love it. The food is fantastic for this lil bbq spot in San Antonio. It rivals to some other spots I have tried, even out performing in some aspects, but that's just me! Now, the service here is immaculate, staff are always willing to talk to you about the food and location, they're very knowledgeable and prideful! Go out there and check them out, support local, you won't regret it! In my most recent photos posting, I got the medium family meal with three drinks and a half dozen tortillas, it came out to $158, split between a few of us and it was a great price. We got 3lbs of meat and 5 16oz sides. Our meats were: 1.5lb of brisket, 1lb of ribs and .5lbs of pork belly. Sides were: double corn, pitmasters helper (picadillo mac), chicharoni mac and Maria's beans. All of the food here is flavorful. I was bummed out because the Oaxaca Serrano pork sausage was sold out! Now that's a sausage you have got to try, you will not be disappointed.

Driving around eating BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. Went to San Antonio Texas on a Friday and 2 M Smokehouse BBQ was our 2nd stop. We have placed an online order to make sure that we got some of their brisket. When we arrived around 12:45pm the line was short so we decided to walk in and get our order. The wait inside was short and they still had everything on the menu. When it was our turn to order we told them that we had placed an online order and they went to work putting it together. The brisket was moist and had a beautiful smoke ring. The sausage was ok, and the pork ribs were on point delicious. There are a few tables to eat inside and lots of tables to eat outside under the trees. I recommend you try 2M Smokehouse BBQ in San Antonio Texas

This review was a long time coming. With my parents recently moving to Castroville about a year ago (time is a construct at this point), my dad was excited to show me Blu Lacy BBQ in Castroville and explained it to me as a spinoff of 2M Smokehouse in San Antonio proper. After trying it and falling in love with its original iteration, I was heartbroken to hear Blu Lacy would be rebranding and splitting off from 2M, and to get that same kick I would have to travel to 2M Smokehouse itself. In late June, the opportunity arose, and with pieces of my BBQ posse, we traveled one fine Sunday morning and waited in line at the consistently recognized and Bib Gourmand recipient, 2M Smokehouse. We arrived at just around 10:30 and luckily were the first in line. Once we stepped in line, it quickly grew to about 40 people behind us. The four of us ordered a large tray and sat down with our BBQ by 11:06 AM. It was also the first place to stamp my Texas Monthly passport, a major excitement for me. I will list everything we had with my thoughts: Brisket: Juicy, tender, melts in your mouth. Your typical craft brisket. Very impressive here. Pork Ribs: Compared to the other giant BBQ spots, these were significantly more candied, which I really enjoyed. They were definitely more unique and special. Pork Belly: I need to work pork belly into my spread more often because I'm always impressed. 2M's pork belly melts in your mouth and is quite delectable. It feels like a dessert on its own. Pork Sausage: This was definitely one of 2M's standouts in my opinion. The serrano peppers had a sharp kick, but the Oaxaca cheese was the star of the order. The link alone was only $6.50 too, so it's a steal on its own. Mexican Street Corn: A definite elevated take on their version from Blu Lacy. It's so creamy and hits the spot. Chicharoni Macaroni: Another superstar of 2M. If the pork sausage is LeBron, this mac is Steph Curry. The macaroni itself is like a perfect shell that makes Velveeta look like a G League player, and Kraft didn't even get minutes in college. The chicharrones on top bring it to a new level, giving a breadcrumb-like consistency to the macaroni. It was so fire. Pickled Nopales: I have no frame of reference for what this was supposed to taste like, but it smacked, and I'd frankly order 32oz of it to fill a mason jar and take home. Coconut Ube Cheesecake: Yam, in my cheesecake? It's more likely than you think. Tastes like the best side at the Thanksgiving table. All in all, the pitmaster was super friendly, and the staff was great. They had no shade where the line was but supplied umbrellas for the eager patrons. San Antonio doesn't play with their BBQ. Don't forget that. 2M stacks up with the heavyweights.

If you want the best barbecue in San Antonio, this is it. There's a reason they sell out! I've been a handful of times, and would encourage you arrive early to get the best selection of their offerings before they sell out. I arrived at 11:30 and waited in line for 45 minutes - very popular place, and for good reason. Their brisket is so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The sausages are great. Got the special most recently which was a wagyu tri tip - incredible. Everything they make here is a piece of edible art. The sides? Call everyone you know, they're amazing!!! Homemade pickles (and pickled bell pepper, nopales, serranos). You can get tortillas as your bread for a few extra dollars. Please check this place out and keep them in business. There is plenty of seating outside and a few tables inside with air conditioning

We got here very early to make sure we didn't have to wait long in the hot sun! We got brisket, pulled pork, all the pickles veggies, egg salad, Mac and cheese and cole slaw. It was work the wait! The food was so fresh and so good. We enjoyed the bbq syrup too! Glad we got the recommendations to come here!!

I wish I could give this place ten stars! We are from Michigan and had one goal in Texas - find the best damn BBQ. Well, thanks to Yelp and Google, articles mentioning a Michelin Guide and James Beard Award for the Pitmaster, we found our hidden gem here! We arrived just after 11am and found a line to the door, the smells of southern BBQ were mesmerizing and the menu was perfect. The counter service was great, the food was OUTSTANDING, the backyard seating was perfect and just enough sun/shade for a nice lunch in the beautiful Texas heat. The sides were a perfect compliment to the meaty meal... of course we spent all of our money here (over $100 on BBQ and worth every darn hard earned dollar)! The homemade sauce went with everything... I am just in awe of how delicious this food was and I cannot wait to come back!

Brisket melts in your mouth. Mac and cheese, bean, pickled cucumber, garlic and onions are all amazing. Definitely recommend.

Review: Consistency Wins--A Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Experience Walking into a joint that holds a Texas Monthly 50 Top BBQ award sets a high bar, and this establishment consistently clears it. The food here is, without exception, very good. While it didn't offer a single, transcendent bite that would dethrone the absolute best places we've visited, the overall quality and consistency across the menu make it a must-try and certainly justify its prestigious designation. The Meats The smokehouse selection demonstrated a strong command of the basics while offering a few standout specialty cuts: * Brisket: The Brisket was a standard bearer--in the best way possible. It was nice and moist with a clean smoke flavor, proving the pitmaster knows how to handle the foundational Texas cut. * Pork Ribs: These were classic, meaty pork ribs. They had a tight pull, indicating proper cooking without falling into the mushy category. Simple, well-executed, and satisfying. * Tri-tip: This cut was a star in flavor, possessing a bold rub that penetrated deep. It was flavorful and juicy, although it was noted as being a little chewy, which kept it from being perfect. * Pork Belly: The true delight of the menu. This generous cut featured a beautiful, sticky glaze that was both savory and sweet. It was very delicious and was elevated further by a topping of bright orange sauce and sesame seeds--a nice departure from traditional flavors. * Serrano Peppers and Oaxaca Cheese Sausage: The specialty sausage was excellent. It offered a great balance of heat and creamy texture, being nice and spicy with a fantastic cheese ooze that made every slice satisfying. The Sides The sides complemented the meat selection with bold flavors and deep comfort: * Pitmaster Mac and Cheese: This was pure, indulgent comfort food. It wasn't a traditional baked mac, but rather resembled something closer to a rich, smoky stroganoff or Hamburger Helper--a pleasant surprise that leans heavily into creamy, savory notes. While the cheese was a little runny, the overall taste was deeply comforting and well-seasoned. * Street Corn: This side delivered big, bold flavors. The kernels had a lovely char and crunch. However, the use of cilantro and lime was a little heavy-handed, potentially overpowering the subtle sweetness of the corn for some palates. Final Verdict This is an establishment that takes its award seriously. Every plate that hit the table was executed to a high standard, demonstrating a clear mastery of the smoker and a willingness to innovate with cuts like the phenomenal Pork Belly. While it may not surpass the handful of truly iconic institutions in the state, the food here is consistently fantastic, making it well worth the trip. This barbecue joint is definitively worthy of its Top 50 designation and is a reliable choice for high-quality barbecue.

Excellent! Worth the drive! Perfect ambiance and setting for great bbq. Service was fast, attentive, and nice. Brisket, egg salad, beans, picadillo mac and cheese were all yummy af! Bbq was different but worked well. Onions and pickles were some of the best I've had period!! For sides this is the best in town. For bbq top 3. Combined score #1 for me.

Do you always have to wait in line? When's the best time to get there before things are sold out?

Yes you have to wait in line. A couple of weeks ago we waited in line starting 1-1/2 hours before opening. We were second in line. Worth it? Yes.

Is there still food for a weekday dinner?

Depends on how much you order. If you order the large meal. You would have enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner for several days.

Does anyone know when the line normally starts forming on Sundays?

    Around 10am

I see under health and safety measures on Yelp that the staff wear gloves but do they also wear masks?

Yes and they are also only doing curbside orders

    Is the patio dog friendly?

I saw folks being their four legged family members this afternoon...I would bring a bowl, they don't have faucets outside - but you can fill up with cups of water from inside.

Do y'all still have the beef ribbs?

Gotta get their early, like Tony A. said. I was there at noon, and they were out by 12:30pm.

The receptionist went over suggestions on the menu on her outdoor podium. Cornbread in the shape of Texas, shareable items like Dino ribs for $82, plus Pork Shank and ice tea completed our order. Everyone was very friendly. We had an exceptional view and we had more than enough food that we had to ask for take out boxes. My favorite was the Mac & cheese though I'm usually not a fan. This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole…read more My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.

Beautiful restaurant. Service is very good. Had ceviche, tuna al pastor, and the corn cakes. The…read morescallop ceviche was a bit bland but I like the crunchiness of the green apple. I didn't need extra fat from avocado after the corn cakes since it doesn't add much flavor to the dish. The corn cakes are good and I will order again but not as good as some other cornbread. It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. I wish it was a fluffy whip cream to cut down from all the sweetness. Overall it's still a better tres leches than other places in the area.

It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The food was flavorful and unique. We had a wonderful dinner with my family at Carriqui.

Initially I wasn't sure what to think about mixing BBQ with curry, but I was quickly won over!…read more We are in Texas, so naturally I had to try the brisket. It is served over green curry, which also happens to be my favorite! The brisket is served on top of the curry bowl, so I first tried just the meat. It was fall apart tender, perfectly moist, and full of flavor! I would pick their brisket over most other BBQ joints in a heartbeat! Next up was the curry by itself. It was also delicious and filled with potatoes and carrots! I am used to green curry being pretty spicy, but this is definitely a milder green curry. When I mixed the brisket in it was the perfect combination! The smokey meat blended with the curry spices was a delight to the palette, and it was just the right amount of food for a big and hungry guy like me! I can't wait to go back to try some of the other dishes! Great food! Fair and reasonable price! Friendly service! Definitely worth checking out!

I would honestly go back just to order those again. The lemongrass BBQ sauce was insanely good!! It was so flavorful and it paired perfectly with the pork belly. I could probably drink that sauce if I'm being honest. And if you're wondering whether to trust my review... you probably should. I'm originally from New Orleans, where the food scene is top-notch and we don't mess around when it comes to good food. This place definitely lived up to the hype. If you're in San Antonio and thinking about trying it, do it. Easy five stars for me
