I am deathly allergic to cinnamon, and because of this i am unable to eat Indian food. At other Indian restaurants i have been unable to eat anything other than salad because the waiters can never tell me what is safe to eat. The owner of 2gingers personally came out and went over the menu with me and told me what was cinnamon free and thus safe for me to eat. My wife and I dined at 2 Gingers during lunch on a Friday and came back for dinner a month or so later. On our first visit, my wife wanted to see how the buffet was to see if it was worth coming back to eat at night. t is! My favorite item on the buffet was the mushroom/pea dish. It was unique and delicious. The korma chicken and chicken tikka masala were both good. The fish dish on the buffet was great. Naan not bad. Wish they had samosas on the buffet. Like I said, this was a good meal. Can't wait to come back and order off the menu. My favs are vindaloo, saag paneer, chicken makhani, with a nice large Taj. Décor aside, the choices where plentiful and portions generous. The Kenan Naan (Naan Bread with lamb inside) was amazing. The herbs and spices were exceptionally fresh and aromatic in the Curry as well as the Briyani. Let us not forget the heat! Their heat choices run from 1-6 with 3 being a medium. The curry we had was a 3 and was fantastic. Then the rice we had was a 4, which the waitress asked me twice to make sure is was what I wanted, made us sweat! Therefore, I can only image what the Scoville is like on a 6 based on the jump in heat from 3 to 4! The restaurant did feel slow for a Friday night; however, based on Dosa "Buffet" Night being on Thursday (definitely going to try again on a Thursday), this is understandable. I likes how they had both plain and spiced naan, however a few pieces that I had were overdone and too crispy. The buffet has a vegetarian side and a meat side with all of the options your heart could desire. I recommend that you try a tiny bit of everything to get the best experience and to see what dishes are your favorite. I have to admit I was a little skeptical when my fiance recommended this place for dinner. I am not a big Indian food fan but I was absolutely Blown Away on how delicious this place was. The atmosphere was clean, it looked well taken care of, and the waiter was very friendly. He could also explain the menu very well and recommend suggestions based on the type of food that you like and the heat level you like. I had the goat while my fiance had the chicken and both were extremely tender , and full of flavor and Spice. Needless to say we will definitely be coming back to try some more items on the menu. This is my fav place in Columbia for Indian food. The tikka masala is always on point and the buffet is a lot of bang for your buck. It's got all my favorites, but there's always something new to try and fall in love with. The sambhar is slowly becoming my new favorite thing, especially in the colder months. I practically lived in this place when Chef Mohan Raj was there. It has always been clean, affordable and the absolute highest quality of food. My wife and I ate there today. We've been out of state for a while and what a homecoming! The food is so good it feeds your body AND your soul. The layers of flavor and how they unfold speak to the care that is being put into each dish. When the food is placed on your table the sight and aroma tell you there is a masterful talent in the kitchen. Five stars just isn't enough. This is edible art. One of Columbia's treasures. I went to 2 Gingers for the first time the other night on the recommendation of a friend who lives down the street. It did not disappoint! I got the chicken makhani (also called butter chicken) and it was delicious! My boyfriend got the chicken rogan josh and it was good as well. We are excited to go back and try more dishes! Only had a couple of minor complaints: the service is a little slow, our finished plates sat in front of us for about 15 mins before they were cleared, our check wasn't brought until about 10 more minutes later. We also had to flag a waiter down to bring us more water, and even so, he only brought enough for one person so we had to split it. This would not have irritated me as much of the food hadn't been so spicy! Everyone at our table ordered "mild" and we were all sweating. Idk if they just have the spice ratings for funsies or what but it was hot, and we all eat spicy food quite often. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but if you're wimpy about spice be careful!
