Saw wait staff three times, to put a pitcher of water on our table, 15 minutes later to take our order and next to bring our food. If I could give a place 10 stars, this would be the place. My wife and I love Indian food, but we haven't been here together yet. I'd come to the buffet with a friend a few years ago, and it had set the standard for the staple dishes which will always be my Indian favorites. Tonight we were pushing the limits on time, but there were several diners around us, so we felt comfortable, and even more comfortable after our server assured us that the kitchen was not closed for a little while longer. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was perfection, and the food was absolutely a dream come true. The tandoori chicken was the most tender and juicy we'd ever had. Our favorite dishes surpassed our expectations in every way. The nam bread was the most wonderful combination of crispy and fluffy. My wife lives for spice and heat. Unfortunately, though, I looked like I'd just taken a shower with my clothes on by the time we had to ask for boxes to take the ample leftovers home. Flies were swarming in people's faces and around the food. Very unsanitary! My friend and I used to go to 2Gingers when we wanted good Indian food--not anymore! There weren't a whole lot of people at the restaurant, too. I should have left when I walked in. One of the wait staff just looked at me blankly when I told her there were a lot of flies in the restaurant, and one of them landed on my head. I enjoyed most of the food in the buffet, especially the coconut soup and dish that tasted like grits. I appreciated items like these which are not usually found on Indian buffets. They also had a good selection of chutneys in their salad and dessert bar. Unfortunately there were also some no-nos: the cold onion fritter that tasted really off and the moldy-tasting water. The past 2 times we've been we had to wait a LONG time to get our order taken, and food served. People were walking out. The server wasn't pleasant. The glasses are turned over on the table with the lip on tables that are never truly clean enough between service. Water is served room temperature. Both times our food was brought to us by someone holding the bowl with the tip of one finger in the sauce. I've been here with my husband a couple of times the reason for the three stars is that the first few times it was great with wonderful service. Unfortunately the last time we went for our first wedding anniversary and it was awful. The staff was stretched thin with too many tables and not enough server, we got three dishes two were ok if bland but the third (2 gingers curry with goat) was simply inedible. With shards of bone in the small amount of meat the majority of the dish was large bones covered in gristle. I love Indian food. In fact, I love Indian food so much that one day I want to go to India and just gorge. I watch Indian movies and pay tension to what they're eating. Did I mention I love Indian food? I have been wanting to try out 2 gingers for a while. I was on that side of town, and so decided to treat myself there for lunch. I mean, it might be a little weird eat alone but I wanted to.
