The service was great! Friendly, attentive, and pretty quick on food and drinks. We decided to sit on the patio since it was a beautiful night. Plus it was open mic night and we were looking for a quieter option, so the patio fit the bill perfectly. The Detroit style pizza was good. Adult rootbeer float was so yummy. The chip and dip flight was nice but I didn't care much for the salsa ish dip that came with it. The smokehouse platter was not bad. For us the burger and chicken were ok, the pork was good but not great. The cornbread waffle though, now that was tasty. I would go again and try some different things to see if anything was really great. It did look like a great beer selection, that just wasn't what we were looking for this time. read more

Great place to grab food and get a drink. They food was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The beer selection is very good. They offer different entertainment through the year one of the staff told us. We were from out of town so that was cool to find out so we may make another trip to check them out again. The seating was very comfortable. I love that they do community event even though I am not from that comminuty if was cool to see they want to help others. read more

Stopped here before finishing a long ride from Chicago to the Indiana Dunes. Food was mediocre. But the IPA they had on tap was quite good. Maverick from Mashcraft out of Indianapolis. Great suggestion by a bar tender with very good taste in beer. She shared with me that she was pretty into craft beers. Friendly and helpful (offered me sample of other things on tap; but her initial suggestion of the Maverick was spot on). read more

My friend and I stopped by this quaint place after visiting the Indiana Dunes National Park! It was a very large place that had board games, and a small but nice selection of summer beers. We were also hoping for some food, but unfortunately we came around a time where the kitchen wasn't open until 4 pm. Definitely worth checking out the beer selection if you're visiting nearby the area! read more

I just happened to stumble on 219 Taproom during their grand opening night and so glad I did. Great atmosphere. The owners did a really nice job designing the place. Nice and open with plenty of low and high top seating. It was packed for the opening, but staff did a good job of getting orders through and food/drink delivered in a timely manner. A little slower that usual, but definitely good for how busy the place was. I had a Coco D chocolate stout and the Thanksgiving Waffle. Great pairing. For the waffle, they created a batter out of stuffing and threw it in the waffle maker. The stuffing waffle was then topped with turkey, cranberry sauce and gravy. Nice heart entree that was delicious! There was a live band playing for the opening that was really good. Hopefully live music will be a part of the regular culture here. Dropped in for lunch after perusing the Chesterton European Market on a nice warm Saturday afternoon. There was live music on the grass near the outdoor seating which was a real treat. There is a small area for outdoor seating with 4 tables and umbrellas. We ordered their taco trio, which included smoked brisket, chicken and pork options. The meats were all tender and the recipes were delightfully unique and tasty. Particularly intriguing was the peanut butter pepper jam on the pork taco. A small cup of salsa is provided on the side. It was fresh and worked well with the tacos. They have a wide selection of beer on tap, but on this stop we didn't have any beer. Clean bathrooms too! We will be back! read more

Beers were all IPAs with a few lagers sprinkled in and the food was trash. We ordered pulled pork nachos and they were literally round tortilla chips with a little bit of store bought shredded cheese and pulled pork. It was depressing. We also ordered Mac and cheese and mentioned it was for a kid and it was not good and extremely spicy. Very weird to have Mac and cheese on the menu and not disclose it was very spicy. Our chicken salad sandwich was the star of the show. The croissant was decent and the chicken salad was ok but it was on a bed of chip crumbs. It looked like the bottom of a store bought bag was dumped in a serving boat and voila, done. I will not be coming back here for the very limited beer selection nor the bowling alley food. read more

Disappointing, was drawn in by the music while visiting the farmers market, tried to order the Detroit Style Pizza and was told we couldn't order it because they were too busy and it takes a long time to make. 219 Taproom has a decent selection of draft beers from what appears to be breweries out of the Indianapolis area. So I guess this is a satellite for those breweries down there. There is no beer actually brewed on site. The seating area is quite large, and it's a nice location, located in the center of town. There is no wait service, so you will have to get up and go to the bar to order drinks and food. I didn't eat when I went there, but some friends did, and it did not appear that there were any vegan options. The beers they served were pretty average. Nothing that created a "Wow" moment for me. The positive is the size of the space, and again, the ability to walk to it from any residence located in the downtown Chesterton area. read more

I'm sure it was probably a home before the remodel. It has ample parking in the back next to a small little patch of woods, probably about the size of a normal backyard. There were birds all over the trees, reminding me that I had made the stupid decision to leave my camera in San Antonio. My eyes immediately fell on the flight boards. They are set up with 9 spaces so that they can easily match the beer to a number, as they had nine choices to choose from. I asked for all nine to be on one, and she let me have them half-filled. I love beer, but never want to feel buzzed, if I plan to drive. In this situation, I just wanted to taste them. I liked all of the beers here. My two favorites were the Triple XXX Belgian Triple and the Cricket IPA. I also really liked Goliath's Demise barleywine. Barleywines in general are not my favorites, usually because they are not fresh. This one was fresh and not cloyingly sweet. My wife, as most of you know, is not a beer drinker- AT ALL. For that reason, we left after I finished the flight and a couple of small glasses of my two favorites. The atmosphere was very cozy. The local patrons who came in were all very friendly. One lady at the bar spoke with us as if we were there with her every day. The owner's husband came in and placed a plate with smoked salmon and crackers on the bar for everyone. And, most notably, there was not a TV in sight! Imagine, a place to cozily sit and converse with fellow beer drinkers without sports blasting in your ears!

My husband's chicken bacon avocado sandwich was enough for two. You could probably split it if you ordered an extra side. My mother in law ordered the same sandwich and they both agreed that it could use some sauce or maybe even some of their aioli, you could probably order some on the side. My father in law got the pulled pork. He is a picky eater and he said it was good. He didn't like the cole slaw, it wasn't tart enough for him. I don't like cole slaw anyways so I couldn't give you my opinion. The server was attentive and professional. We enjoyed our meal.

It is cash only and even has a sign available for when they run out of that day's barbecue. The pulled pork was perfect and my wife and kids enjoyed their platter of brisket and pulled pork. Traditional sides include homemade coleslaw, baked beans, rolls and potatoes. Everything was fresh and delicious! I also enjoyed a cup of their brisket vegetable soup with my pulled pork sandwich. The sauce options were equally good, including sweet BBQ, hot mustard, mild sauce and hot sauce. Also loved seeing a sign from Kid Rock's visit declaring the "best little grub shack this side of Detroit." We just ate what we could of our meal and left. I would give this place a miss. If they're going to charge what they do, they need to fix the food.
