Called "legal grounds coffee"...inside this amazing thrift store. It is a perfect setting for get together or small group... they even have a room for 10-12 people. We stopped here on our way from beaufort South Carolina to Washington DC. Getting a coffee to have while we make our next stop in Hope mills at a Tesla charging station. I needed a good latte.... I could easily see this being our go to coffee shop if we lived nearby.. although I would probably come home with purchases often if I did!! I forgot to ask what brand oatmilk they use... my fault since I am particular. It has a somewhat chalky feel/taste. I just looked that up. It can be caused by several things:1. Brand of oatmilk, 2. Barista blend yes/no, 3. Temp too high on oatmilk, or 4. Oatmilk not shaken or sediment turning powder on bottom of container. Interesting reading. Anyway, I would come back if I lived here... maybe explore what brand they are using... the setting is idyllic! read more

Coffee shop is not a normal coffee shop, it is inside an antique store . They make many drinks just not the extent of a full coffee shop . Baked goods go fast and are pretty tasteful . For flavored and black coffees they are pretty decent , better than Starbucks . The owners are a very nice couple , family oriented and very giving to the community . This little coffee shop was absolutely adorable and a cozy place to hang out while away on travel. The barista (maybe owner?) was SUPER friendly and I had a delicious latte with almond milk and a bagel. I decided to chill there for a bit. I could tell that it is a spot for the locals to hang out and spend time together because they started their game night while I was there! It almost felt like I was in an episode of Friends! I'll definitely be back the next time I come this way on travel. read more

This place is awesome! The owner Tommy is friendly and made an excellent mocha frappe with a shot of espresso added. The selection of books, antiques, and vinyl is amazing! Definitely recommend 219 Elm! The ambience is super cool also. Enjoyed the music selection playing in the shop. read more

The owners are just an amazing couple who moved to Lumberton a few years ago and jumped right in to revitalize our downtown area. They are super friendly and helpful offering a delicious variety of hot & cold beverages as well as sweets, sandwiches & salads. we were parked outside of this business very early in the morning waiting on another business just down from this business to open and I was enjoying watching the lady set up her shop for the day then a car parked next to us and took a single bag to the lady then the car backed up and pulled to the other side of us and parked almost sideways in the parking spot. the Lady then came to our truck and said what are you sitting there waiting on. what are you doing here? I said I'm waiting on another business to open but she was so rude and snotty towards me and my Elderly husband whom had dozed off in the seat next to me. after hearing her yell at me and questioning me about being parked near her business my Husband woke up and we then moved our vehicle around the corner since she had a major problem with us parking near her shop. I would have never expected such a rude and disrespectful attitude just because I was parked near her shop. I though about going in and looking around but after that she will never have to worry about me or my family spending any money in that hateful store. read more

When road tripping our goal is to stay clear of Starbucks and find coffee shops with character. legal Grounds was a sweet surprise - unique setting of gift shop, antiques, gallery and coffee shop. The owners are very friendly and informed us that they just started live music on Thursday nights. We highly recommend for travelers and locals alike. Great place to sit a spell. read more
