This is such a cozy local spot! We didn't know where the front door was, it didn't matter. The server we had was so sweet and kind, just as attentive as we needed. The food was filling and yummy, a perfect casual night. Maybe not the most genuine authentic items- just fun! I thought I knew what tacos I would order until my spouse said they wanted to try the walking quesadilla. I knew walking tacos from working with kids... However this was just a level up joy I didn't know I needed. Also included was the live music with Jayce Walsh @JayceWalshMusic on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook that I didn't expect as it was just beginning when we came. Better than I would have thought! We were right next to it and yet (even though we needed to get close) we could still have a conversation! + A thoughtful large monthly event calendar! So neat! read more

I'm genuinely rooting for Bellevue and its growing Lincoln Avenue business district, so I hope this review is taken in the constructive spirit intended. Having lived in and traveled extensively around other U.S. cities, I've seen how a strong, distinctive food scene can help transform a neighborhood into a regional destination. Bellevue has that same potential, and I want to see its local businesses succeed. This place has a cool concept, a great location, and plenty of potential to draw people from across Pittsburgh. I had heard about it for a while and arrived with high hopes, but the experience fell short. The interior felt older and more tired than intentionally "divey." I can appreciate a polished dive-bar atmosphere, but this space needs attention--especially because a strong odor from the restroom was noticeable in the dining area. Unfortunately, the food was equally disappointing. The bean, rice, and cheese burrito was bland and dry, with a tortilla that tasted like something from a grocery-store package. The cod taco resembled a frozen fish stick on a tortilla with tartar sauce. I was hoping for the bright, fresh flavors of a good fish taco--crisp cabbage, pickled onions, lime, and a flavorful sauce. The kids enjoyed the walking taco, but that was the only real hit at our table. The atmosphere and location give this place real potential, but the kitchen needs fresher ingredients, bolder flavors, and more care in the preparation. As it stands, even Chipotle offers a better food experience. Perhaps most people come primarily for the bar, but when "tacos" is in the name, the tacos should be a reason to visit. Bellevue is becoming an exciting destination, and I hope 202 Tacos steps up its food and presentation because the bones of something great are already here. read more

One of my absolute favorite spots! Service is quick (sometimes is a little slow when outside though). Their tacos are always good and pretty substantial. On Tuesdays they have 3 tacos and a marg for $15 and it's great! read more

I'd say I come here pretty often, they renovated the place recently to a more inviting upbeat atmosphere. The food is always good , I recommend the quesadillas and churros with strawberries. The servers are nice and amazing, and I love how they have events happening all the time. They don't have any drafts for beer and prices are moderate but overall a good spot to check out once or twice. read more

Casual location for a Sunday lunch with sports. Trust the waitress to help you pick the most delicious margarita! 2 tacos each sufficed. I remember it being loud despite not being crowded. We'll come back! read more

Order a take out of churros which was 5.35 and gave the person $6 and did not get my change back. Yeah it was only .65 cents but it's the principle and was given a dirty look while waiting for the change. read more

Came for a guest bartending night at the Christmas pop-up called "We Believe". The bar was mostly full, but there were 2 high tops (standing only) and 3 bar style seats along the window available. They have TONS of Christmas decor, ornaments, trees, props, etc. They also have touch tunes and a Santa chair with a Santa hat We tried about half of the featured cocktails and my favorite was definitely the Grinch cosmo. Super fun presentation with a tart taste, not overly sweet. There's one unisex bathroom that was surprisingly clean. The service was mostly prompt, considering the guest bartending situation, and everyone was pleasant. Parking is along the street or a side street. read more

The food was delicious, but WARNING for those with allergies: NO SPECIAL ORDERS! It doesn't say it on the menu, which is even worse, since our waitress had to explain it and that changed some of our orders drastically. I liked the atmosphere & I'm sure I'll like it when it's not holiday themed, too. On karaoke night, if you sing you get a free margarita & thankfully, all the singers were good. The prices are decent and service was very good. We'll definitely return. read more

The new location for the Brown's watch bar in Pittsburgh is pretty decent! It's your typical average American - Mexican bar/restaurant. While nothing necessarily stands out as special, it was all pretty good (except for the street corn dip...that was weirdly cold & mushy). The queso & guac with homemade chips were a good appetizer to share, and the quesadillas were a good sharing size too (although they could have used a lot more flavor in my opinion, the amount of cheese & meat inside was filling). The bartender was quick & friendly (which was impressive because she was the only person working the whole bar). Overall, there are definitely better Mexican spots in the city, but this isn't a bad option for a low key spot to watch a football game. Food: C+ Drinks: B- Service: B+ Ambiance: B+ read more

Had not been there for quite a while. Really enjoyed my last visit. Enjoyed the walking taco burrito had a beer. Felt like a nice neighborhood. Spot was always hoping that's what it would become. I think it has finally reached that status for me, didn't always feel welcome, but the bartenders and waitresses have really stepped up and the service has improved immensely. Always enjoy a good taco or burrito and a beer at a friendly atmosphere, 202 Hometown tacos is living up to its name read more

I ordered some tacos through a third party delivery service and received my order very quickly. The tacos themselves were pretty decent, although I wished they had a little more bbq sauce on them. If you're looking for something quick and a step above fast food, this is a solid option. read more

We stopped by for some margaritas and tacos since it's close to where we live. The place was crowded and seemed like a lot of locals which is terrific because Bellevue needs more local eateries with bar service. The bartenders were cranking out beers, shots, and margaritas left and right while waiting on the bar for food too. They were great! The tacos are pretty straightforward and what you could whip up at home with a bag of shredded cheddar, a can of pickled jalapenos, sour cream and some protein. Nothing seemed homemade here including the margaritas made from Daily's drink mix. They were pretty bland. We liked the neighborhood vibe and wish them great luck on this taco spot. read more

I have!'t been here in over a year but I'm mad today and I was thinking about the last time I went to 202 hometown tacos. Service was slow. Tacos were okay. Margaritas were good. Wouldnt go back. read more

We arrived at 6 and it is first come for seats, which is not a problem. When we sat, the waitress came over to clean-up but only took 2 cups then walked away. We sat for about 30 minutes without anyone addressing us, so I got up to get menus (which we only got 1) then it took another 30 minutes for someone to come over to take our order. it is now 739 and we just got our drinks and appetizers after asking if someone if they were ready. Lets see how long it takes for our dinner. read more

Was disappointed in the different prices from the website vs in store. The menu directly from their website is $3.00 for a mama's taco. However, without being told, I was charged $4.50 per taco. $1.50 unknown upcharge. Called to ask and was told "yea, its wrong". That's a very deceiving practice. Food is good! read more

I had the pleasure of dining at 202 Hometown Tacos. I would more than likely return. My friend and I went for dinner. We shared an order of nachos with 3 dips- salsa, queso, and a corn salsa. The salsa was just ok, I wasn't a fan of the corn dip, but the queso was fabulous. For the main course, I went with a spicy shrimp tact- sooo good, and a regular ground beef taco- it was super salty and I wasn't a fan. But, I'd definitely get the shrimp again. The srvice was top notch. Brandon our server, was amazing. I'd go back just because of him! The ambiance was super cute. They had a great outdoor seating area in the back that I wished we would have seated there. But, the inside was not disappointing. read more

Mehhh very average tacos. Not good, not bad. The fried fish taco was the highlight of the meal, this one was actually pretty tasty. As for everything else I tried, nothing really stood out. Little too pricey for the quality of the taco they serve. read more

I've tried this place out twice, ordering different menu items in hopes of something better I suppose. The food is really sub par. Don't get me wrong, it's good but not the quality I would expect out of somewhere that is specifically a taco shop. My first time around (not pictured) I ordered 3 different tacos. The chicken and jack fruit were good, but the carnita was dry and bland in flavor. This time I ordered a bowl (pictured) and it reminded me of something I would eat stumbling home from a drunken night of bar hopping in college. Like I said not terrible, but not great quality either. I also requested no pork on my bowl and received pork anyways. They were busy so it's an easy mistake when throwing this together and being in a habit of putting this together as you go down the line. Margarita was so sweet it hurt my stomach and gave me heartburn. I actually didn't finish it because of this. The first time I ordered here, I was able to wait inside for the food. While they were offering dine in, due to covid I opted for to go. The vibe inside seems more of a drinking hole with karaoke and happy hour flyers posted throughout. Maybe their food quality matches what they're going for here. I'm giving 4 stars because I think this is what they're going for and if it wasn't for covid, I'd happily drink some beer at their bar while enjoying karaoke.. I'd probably even eat another bowl and think it was great after a few cold ones. It's also nice to have some options in the area. read more

202 Hometown Tacos provides a nice bar, a good location, and good layout. The tacos fall short on taste. The carne asada was downright bad. The meat was tough, large, and dull. The shrimp mayo sauce was not good. The carnitas was ok but plain. The meal wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. Not good enough for a return visit. Best of luck to the establishment. read more

Good bar bad food. I have eaten there 4 times and the food tends to be cold when it's a hot meal.

Detailed Review: Carne asada taco: 4/5 Had pretty good flavor overall. The meat was also very tender and not over cooked. In general I prefer my tacos in corn tortillas but they only offer flour. Chicken tacos: 2/5 Not very flavorful at all. Tasted like unseasoned chicken with plain slaw on top. Overall it's a decent place and the servers were nice but it didn't really stand out. Might return to try some other items and the outdoor area in the back. read more

Happy to see this new edition to the neighborhood. Definitely more thrilled about its arrival to the area than I am with the tacos ordered. They were good, but far from great, and lacked substance. A few pieces of lettuce and tomatoes were observed, and after a few bites, it was all over. Taco portion was very small. I like their simplified menu but it fell short of excitement. One item was already blocked off the menu. Time will tell if it holds its own. I did enjoy the house made dips. Very flavorful, and satisfying. Atmosphere is on the loud side since they have the option of opening up 2 garage doors for a more open feel, but the outside vehicle traffic becomes part of the dining area and bar noise. Overall, worth another visit to see if I missed something the 1st time. Bar area is comfortable, and service provided was helpful. read more

I came here with a group of friends after a Yelp event across the street. I love tacos, so it was an easy decision to stop by- especially after seeing it was a hot, new business. The atmosphere was very odd to say the least... our waiter was a boy who usually works the line... he told his girlfriend that serving is easy so they traded places for the day. It's very odd that a new restaurant would allow this to happen. I found it extremely unprofessional, especially since he couldn't answer any of our questions. I ordered a mango margarita, two tacos, and a side of chips and queso. The queso was pretty cold, which was very disappointing because that's usually my favorite part! In addition, when I asked for pico, they were out. In my opinion, a Mexican restaurant should run out of pico?! On a positive note, the tacos were pretty good and served in large portions. The beef taco was definitely my favorite whereas the buffalo chicken taco didn't have as much flavor. Definitely not a place I'd go back to since there are so many other options for delicious Mexican food and great service! read more

I love this place. Great service. Awesome tacos. Great price and MARGARITAS kick major a$$

So excited that this taco joint is within walking distance of my apartment AND they have a full bar! Parking: limited metered street parking or try a side street for a free spot. You can order predetermined tacos and burrito bowls or you can design your own. It's very affordable with some tacos starting at $3. The chips didn't appear to be homemade the last time I was here. There are vegetarian options (not sure about vegan though). There's a bar area with TVs and a TouchTunes jukebox. The main seating area has tables and some high top wall seats. This place is turning into one of our favorite spots! read more

The service was good until we were overcharged for the cheese quesadilla. The physical menu in the restaurant and the website menu both say $6, yet we were charged $7. The server and manager refused to fix it. Promising one price and then charging another is against the law in Pennsylvania. The food itself was average. The fried cod was the main highlight and was very good. Nothing else was worth returning for. The rice in the build-your-own bowl was crunchy at times, from some of it being either overcooked or undercooked and mixed-in with a fresher batch. The sautéed onions are apparently a 50¢ upcharge (no mention of this by the waitress or the menu) and were not fully cooked (some were still raw). The side of sour cream provided for the cheese quesadilla was served runny (because it was possibly allowed to sit out too long at room temperature). A side of lettuce was inexplicably provided for the cheese quesadilla. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to provide salsa that I can dip the quesadilla in? What am I supposed to do with a side of lettuce? Finally, they charge $7 for chips and dip (if the menu price is to be believed) and they don't even bother to make their own chips in house. You will find more authentic tacos from a Taco Bell. read more

Yummy yummy in my tummy. Came for happy hour and the prices are unbelievable. $5for tasty margherita and 2 for $5 for delicious tacos. Plus the tacos range from $3 to $6 for that price and that taste. Yasss pwease. The drinks were really good and definitely not prepackaged mix. I had the chicken, pork, and steak. The steak was so tender and had some nice heat to it. The pork was smokey and flavorful. The chicken was avacadoy, cilantro goodness. Definitely coming back for more.
