I came in and the staff took my information and had me sit and wait for my exam. It was a very short wait and I was brought back to the see the doctor. I have been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old, so I've had a lot of eye exams. Never mind how many. This one was probably the most thorough I have ever had. Dr. Holifield really did an incredible job of checking out my vision and my eyes in general. He also recommended some eye drops for me, and his staff managed to get a prescription that was normally over $800 for free. Great job! I picked out my new glasses (you can see them in the photo), and while they are not the exact frames I wanted, they'll do. It was a bit pricey, but I have vision insurance so that covered part of it. When I got home I had a notice in the mail that my employer had changed to a new vision insurance carrier. I immediately called the office to apologize and give them the new information, only to find that they had already found it and had billed the correct insurance. That is truly excellent customer service. They told me it would take up to two weeks for the new glasses, which was fine, but it turns out, they were ready in six days. I picked them up and I'm wearing them right now. And I can see, so I guess the visit was a success. And I have a new eye doctor.

The staff I've interacted with have consistently been helpful and kind, which I truly appreciate. Dr. Holifield is patient and caring, and I will continue to return for my yearly checkups. I wear contact lenses and have been happy with the same brand for many years. While Dr. Holifield may occasionally suggest trying a new brand--and I'm open to giving them a try--there's never any pressure. I'm always supported in sticking with what works best for me. I've gotten the run around all week trying to pick my glasses up. Each day another excuse. At this point I just want a refund. I'm on Medicare and wanted to use my advantage benefits for new glasses. Supposedly the benefit is $400 / yr. I was told by the doctor that money is basically Monopoly money. The entire experience has turned me off to this practice.

I had to wait 10 minutes behind some guy who either didn't have insurance or didn't know his insurance simply to pick up glasses that were already paid for. And everyone is nice, very friendly staff. They charged me FULL retail for my exam. I had to submit my charges to the insurance company, that only reimbursed me for the "Reasonable & Customary", $150. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of frames and lenses from Jazzy Eyes over the past 45 years. The least they could have done was charge me the $150 that my insurance covered. They have zero flexibility for their good long time customers. It is not a matter of the money, this will not break me. It was the idea that if they do not take your insurance they charge you a high retail price. For a routine annual visit. So sad. In the past, Jazzy Eyes used to have the largest selection of really funky glass. Their selection has been reduced and many of their brands that they used to carry, they do not have anymore. $50 dollars cost them my business. I am sorry to go, it is just a matter of principle. She initially informed me of and kept watch of my eyes deteriorating cataract conditions for years, eventually referring me to The Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute for cataract surgery.
